Ratharian, the Demon General guy does not look impressive on paper. He's a fighter with low attack, who doesn't do anything special on the first turn. But after running him a bit in a Demon build, he's actually super fun. His summon has to be one of the strongest in the game. He's fast, and has ways around Taunt.
Natalie Seline has been good for me too. I don't have any particular synergies. But she can blast hard and fast, and is the best healer in the game. And heals are surprisingly good at the rank I'm at, where it takes two turns to focus down a Merc.
Nothing surprising for me, really. Not got a huge selection, so mainly sticking with Samuro stupidity - with one fire user (who I got from my final Q pack) and two shadow, it's tricky getting many synergies. Always a bit surprised by how solid Grom actually is, considering he doesn't look anything special.
Rathorian looks decent; main benefit, I guess, is that he's not taking as much damage?
No clue on Seline considering you can't preview abilities in-game. That to do with benediction/anathema? Looks interesting to use, swapping there. I'll use some healing with Xyrella, but she gets outmatched quickly - same with Cariel. The random attacking animals with free attacks and silencing taunts are my main bottlenecks - trying to do each bounty in order (though going back and farming earlier ones, or later normals) - so ST healing isn't my focus.
Rathorian gives +5 attack to every friendly Demon when they attack
Mannaroth gives +13 Health to all Demons every turn (not healing, just +13 Health)
Jaraxxus can deal CRAZY AoE damage if you can time your Legion Burst correctly to get Deathblow (3 fists @ 17 damage each and that's without any summoned demons on board)
Mutanus in pve can be really good if you get that treasure where hé can only take 1 damage at a time.
Saurfang is upgraded very good in an orc deck same as rokara.
Was it Mutanus? I had a Lvl 5 murloc on a PvE to gather XP and it had an ability where it gains taunt and has health set to 6 but only takes 1 damage at a time, then I picked up a treasure where my guys get 1 less damage and he was literally unkillable
Besides demon stuff I got, I am kind of amazed at Anacondra, even if I don't have anything to make a beast build with.
She managed to pack a surprising amount of punch, and her heal got me through hard times, specially since it is fast and I can take her to encounters with aggressors without fearing she gets torn to shreds.

If you are amazed at Anacondra and you don't even have Mukla or King Krush, wait until you have the full team, she is actually insane, and there is a treasure that boosts the attack of elves and beast by 7 and increase speed of all attacks by 3.
Her A1 also doubles any nature spell damage you might have.
I've been using Anacondra - Malfurion - Guff to great success. Anacondra is fast, does some healing and decent damage to casters. Malfurion reduces the speed of all nature skills next round to almost 0 as well as doing some healing and crowd control with root, and Guff is the killer with his second skill, which does obscene damage to protectors and even does well against other targets. When doing runs with this crew, you almost all of the time get the "Tauren / Elf" + 2 nature damage and HP/Attack buff, on multiple targets. Guff frequently does 80+ damage with his second skill, and he can tank in a pinch. Placement actually matters with this crew, you want them positioned as i described above, in order to consistently get of Guff's combo skill.

Anyone else having some surprise successes?

Demons are definitely being slept on IMHO

She is staple in nature builds and beast builds.
I had a run with Mukla where all my mercs except him were dead mid-run, an I got offered this (quite rare) treasure.
He soloed the entire run just by using the A1, basically takes 3-4 damage per turn, and gains 12 health per turn with bananas
