the amount of ppl here with the attention span of a 5 year old is incredible. the games are fast i dont know what u guys are smoking.
go play ur aggro deck on ladder like u have been doing for the past 5 years and leave this new and fresh mode. its actually an entirely different game that im happy that its on HS client so i can use my gold for it
You have to do quest to make your dudes efficient. the best activity to do quest is lvl 13 barrens.
While doing it, less than 6% of the 12 minutes it takes to complete the shit is clicks from you. You have the hand on nothing, you just wait and wait and wait and wait. this is not a pay to win, this is a grin to win. wait... this is all we 've ever wished ! but not like that, watching cinematics is not fun let us play the game fast and efficient please
Pros: seems less random more tactical than heartstone nowadays (except maybe treasure mechanics)
Cons: buggy, graphically underwhelming, merc progression is kinda underwhelming too (I mean I didn't expect to much depth in terms of skill upgrades but the equipment could give you better variety than +1 damage to skill X or +2 to skill Y [sth like avoid all damage in a turn one time use, decrease damage taken, ignore taunts, increase all skills speed, anti-magic but with -50% attack etc.).
the pve is fine, i'm in no rush to power though it, i'm not going to spend any money, but i'll play it sometimes when standard gets me down. i have no interest in pvp, i cannot be bothered to learn every character's every ability and speed, and i know there will only be like 3 meta comps after a few days at max level anyway, which will be very boring
Ok, so actually started to play a little, yea PvE content is kinda fun for a while, since it's so simple and straight forward, but no way this is going to have much longevity as soon as you have your main comp maxed out to level 99 or whatever most people will lay this aside. PvP will be mostly mirror matchups once the best comp has been figured out. (it will....likely by next week or even sooner) so it seems this will have as much longevity as Classic mode pretty much, unless they introduce new stuff on a monthly base, which they probably will, but it's probably gonna be PvE content again mostly.
so far doing well with Xyrella (first ability), Cornelius Roame (2nd ability) and Samuro (1st ability) then there is Thrall with the Windfury stuff...
After watching the first few videos on Mercenaries it did not appeal to me at all. But, in a moment of pure FOMO I pre-ordered the Lich King bundle on Monday the day before launch. Last night I played for a little just to get the feel of it. All PvE.
Still too early to know if I will really enjoy this mode but I had fun last night. It was a little annoying having to complete the tutorials before I could open my packs but I suppose it gave me a very basic understanding of how the game works even though I'd watched the intro videos so it wasn't really necessary.
My first impressions after playing it for a little were better than I expected. The game looks good and doesn't feel very clunky once you get used to the combat sequence. Some of the fights were actually quite enjoyable. Some of the character portraits are gorgeous and I definitely get the appeal of customizing your character.
There seems to be an excellent variety of characters which is cool but maybe a little too many when you consider that you have to earn coins for each character in order to upgrade abilities and equipment. Does anyone know if there is a complete list of all the mercenaries available?
Mercenaries seems like an ideal mode to play on iPad or tablet. Playing BG's on a tablet is super frustrating but I think Mercenaries will be great. Little to no APM required.
My main concern is that I think Mercenaries has been hyper monetized and designed with monetization in mind from the very beginning. I've read some people getting 8 characters to level 30 in one decent sitting so maybe it is possible to F2P the mode and still enjoy it but with so many characters, each with his own currency, it seems like those who spend $$ will have a significant advantage over those who don't.
Conclusion: it's better than I thought it would be. Game feels good to play which is no surprise. Let's see how long it takes for the novelty to wear off or how long until someone discovers the best combination of characters and we get a standard meta like PvP experience.
The little I've played feels more like Darkest Dungeon Lite than Slay the Spire.
I like it so far and i expect the complexity to ramp up as i progress further.
P.S. every mode that had been launched got significant improvements and increased depth over time. The original Battlegrounds, although great, wasn't half what the current version is.
The thing is, there are dozens of character collection gacha games with similar or more interesting mechanics and better graphics. The only thing that would make me interested in this is the Warcraft IP, and even then it's just portraits, not animated sprites or 3D character models.
I'm not even saying it's bad mechanically or anything, it's just an obvious, lazy cash grab to retrofit Hearthstone with a gacha RPG that plays nothing like Hearthstone.
Once it's fixed for mobile I think I could have fun with it, like battlegrounds. I dislike playing ranked on my phone due to some slip-ups from the past, but both battlegrounds and hopefully mercs would work fine.
First of all, I wanted to buy about 30 packs with gold, so I have used the double click... and nothing happened. So I had to purchase them 1 by 1... After that I have opened 1 of the 3 legendaries I really wanted, Malfurion, so I could start farming with my nature dream-team from the start, which was nice. I also like that you can get tasks from bounties.
Actually I have theorycrafted a lot before release, but I have miscalculated with something: cooldowns. I mean I presumed that you can use any skill at the start of the battle, because in pretty much every RPG when you start a battle your skills are ready. The cooldown applies only when you use the actual skill, but its not the case in mercenaries. At this point it should be called "heatup" instead of "cooldown".
My other problem is that merc packs seems hard to get. The daily PVP rewards are just coins, the monthly reward is 1 pack if you get your rating high enough AFAIK. You can get packs from tasks, but you need to do 30 tasks to get 3 packs. You can also get packs with gold, but it seems hard to get meaningful reward track xp from playing the mode, especially since you cant do your normal daily/weekly quests in mercenaries.
Overall I had a lot fun with the game mode so far, but I hope they will fix the quest problem.
This must be a joke! No patch on Android yet. And they have managed somehow to break even the Play store with their buggy piece of crap software. Incredible!

This morning I tried to open HS and it said that my account has a newer version of the game (because I played on PC last night) and wouldn't let me play on mobile...
I was about to toss my phone across the room for that nonsense - but in a brief moment of clarity, I decided to just check the Play Store and sure enough, the update was sitting there, waiting to be clicked.
Manually updated and good to go, no issues so far.
The first impression it gives you is terrible, then it gets better, then the pointless grind/pay to win aspect rears it's ugly head.
The real issue is lack of variety, there are very few mercs in general and no goofy stuff you can just have fun with, even if it's ineffective, like most of the other modes have. While all the abilities aren't completely identical, there is a samey feel to everything.
I feel like it could get good with updates, right now there's just so little to this mode.

-snip-
Exactly my feelings on it. Once it became apparent that this mode is effectively an "Experience Bar Pushing Simulator", I lost what little initial interest I had. And opening packs to flip "legendary" coins is such an incredibly empty feeling, that this mode somehow made PACK BUSTING boring.
In the end, I hope it doesn't creep too much into the traditional player-vs-player cardgame I'm here to enjoy, and start polluting the quest draws like Battle Grounds and Duels did.
One day in and I am enjoying the PVE content. I have always like turn based JRPGs, so the combat is fine for me.
The thing that surprised me the most is how much I grew to like the "Mercenaries" characters. Going in, I figured I would like the traditional characters more, but I really like the new guys.
Have not played PVP yet. There was an error when trying to get in. Either not any players in lobby or some other issue. Going to try it out tonight.

Go manually to play store, search hearthstone and click update. The client somehow not made you open google play for update.
I already play it on android 3 hours after pc release lol.
For that I had no interest before and thought it will be a new garbage mode like duels I have a lot of fun!
Well done so far. I am impressed.
Every new patch.. every new expansion youre complaining about anything.. get a life dude.. realy.. wtf

Missing lethal since June 2015.

I see some players like it, good for them. It's just pure BS for me.
