I am confused just because something is hard it is considered impossible now? I fought the darkness and figured out the second time around that he will come because of a boss (Darkheart?) giving me a vague warning... I got cloak of shadows and his entire deck is single target removal so gg =D Pirate warrior op
no, the darkness has Psychic Scream . Found out the hard way by playing Wish
I've beaten him twice. Shaman with 5 Unstable Evolution in my deck for 0 mana and 4 dudes on the board. And Hunter, by steaking his hand and pressuring him.
I must say, this boss is hard, but not as hard as Darkness, when you play heavy minion decks.
Funny how it goes. I beat him first time I faced him, with a deathrattle-stealth priest. It was also my first completed run with priest after defeating near 70 bosses with priest before getting past the final one.
I beat him first time i saw him and he is my first time i beat first boss he only burn your deck and deal dmg to himself with warlock demons, i had upgraded HP that costs 1 ( paladin ) minion cost 5 and adapt treasure that i didnt use
I faced him once and beaten him with stealth lyra priest, i had two in the deck he managed to mill one and my razakus, fortunetly one survived and i mixed our deck with 2 mana card taking his Doom and abyssal so he couldnt clear me, i had a lot of value before that from lyra but after it was just over kill.
Some visuals from that encounter.
Nice malganis you got there... it would be a shame... if someone...
stole it
In conlusion yes it comes down to rng like most end game bosses he could get lucky and mill both of my lyras and i would be screwed.
Beaten him 2 times before and I just completed it for the 3rd time when he burned one of my win conditions. I won by clearing his board over and over and just pinging him in the face! Was the most insulting way to kill the boss haha! :D

Took Azari down with a small minions/spell damage warlock, by chance turned out Azari was easier to deal with than Overseer Mogark at Boss 7, I was very lucky to slip by that matchup.
Found this thread after losing really bad with an aggro hunter deck, and I just faced Azari with priest. I somehow managed to draw raza, velen, and dk. I even had multiple duplicates in the deck, but his burn allowed be to use raza on turn 9 when I drew him. +6 spell damage allowed me to clear the board a number of times and last long enough into fatigue to gun him down. So that worked, but extremely lucky. I didn't expect my deck to make it past 5 or 6.
Milling one card each turn would be a reasonable challenge. Milling two is just stupid, way too harsh, unnecessarily annoying, turning it into a RNG fest.
The whole point of the Dungeon Run is to build a good deck with synergy and picking treasures that compliment them. Why come up with a boss like this that shits all over the concept? What kind of message does that send players? Oh well lol nice job, now we'll toss a coin and see if you are lucky.
I just don't understand what is wrong with these game designers.
Just dropped this fool on turn 3 with Warrior! Went all dragon deck...boots of haste on turn 1 and played 2 Dragonhatchers that drew a Deathwing, then played card to take an extra turn, drew another Deathwing. Perfect scenario.
He's certainly one of the more difficult bosses. I've beat him several times though. strategies that work against him are mill, jade with double battlecries (sometimes), broken boots of haste as others have pointed out. I'd say he's very difficult for specific classes.
I've been trying to clear the dungeon run using Druid class and have run into him the last 3 times in a row. I have had decks that were full of ways to win but every single card i needed ended up getting burned. I know it isn't impossible but it is incredibly frustrating when i can' t even draw a single power card during the mulligan stage and then I have at least 5 possibly 6 cards that would give me the edge and every single card gets burned!!! AAAARRGGGGHHHH!

Yeah it's pretty sad watching him burn all your important cards and leave you with the garbage you've accumulated throughout the run.

Casual Azari counter (#10th time )

Friend of mine milled him to death when Azari had two Malchezaar's Imp out. He was playing rogue.

I destroyed Azari with Jade Druid, I had six Ayas and a lot of more jade stuff, I did not care about Azari hero power.

what these people arent counting is that not every deck can be quick in this run and that this whole dungeon run is 60% luck based
