Iam passionate Duels player. I enjoyed almost every meta, but now I feel like now it's insanely terrible and I dont understand why is nobody talking about it. Noone is playing Duels or what?
So I know Duels power level is very high and Iam ok with it. Most times every deck has decks that beat it most of times, but now some decks are just unfair and insanely frustrating to play against.
Mostly Priest/Elise with deck full of dragons and passive that reduces cost of dragons by 2 and that would be strong enough on its own, but combined with Emerald googles that reduces left most card by another 2 it's just insane and unfair. They vomit midrange dragons from turn 1, you must clear their board all the time because they can burn you to 15 health with Alexstrasza or finish you with 8 damage from another Alexa. If you manage to make stromg turn they deny it with Murozond. If you have any ace in your deck dont worry they can have it too with multiple Drakonid Operatives. I dont know if i faced something stronger before in Duels and dont understand why Blizzard isnt taking any action. The Dragon treasure should reduce cost only by 1 and Googles shouldnt be offerend that often.
Another cancer in duels are mechs decks which are insanely strong, but Iam ok with them for now because they are 100% more beatable than these dragon priest decks.
Also Marvelous Mycelum needs change to only discover one card because its card that wins game on its own.
Another maybe even bigger nonsence is Shaman that cant be overloaded with treasures that reduces cost of spells by 2 and overload for 1 and second that gives him fireball after casting fire spell. Its very ineractive and fun to get fireball in face for 2 mana every turn. One of those treasures need to go or needs to be made very rare. You can get it in 50% cases. The Dragon one in like 30%. But still I meet these decks every run when I get more than 4 wins.
I only recently really got into Duels about two weeks ago, but still more or less agree with you. I noticed very quickly that Elise/Illucia Dragon deck with DA and Goggles is probably the strongest deck atm in Duels. I got a couple 12-wins with them at little to no effort other than dropping big dragons asap.
I think a quick fix here would be to remove Goggles as a secondary passive. It would still be strong, but imo Goggles is what puts it over the top. I'm mostly fine with DA discounting by 2. Dragons are super expensive on their own and not getting DA means your deck will probably get 3 wins at most. I know I barely make it to 2-3 wins myself when not getting DA.
My other grievance is Omu with Mycellium as you say. It has ridiculous value and can pivot a game all on its own. An early Guff into mushroom is pretty much gg for most decks.
Shaman is really strong too with Plaguebringer and Flames of the KT... But I think I'm ok with it. I've tried out Shaman a bunch of times, and Plaguebringer is kinda rare, and I have yet to see Plaguebringer + KT being offered after. Shaman pretty much has no other deck that can make it to 12 wins as far as I know, so... I guess it's ok?
Druid is batshit broken but other than that everything is mostly fine outside of some busted treasure combos, but hey it's duels, it's supposed to be pretty nutty. If omu is available, you'll always pick him because marvelous mycelium was a marvelous mistake to print. Along with all their other tools, giving druid access to a self-containing card win condition that prevents fatigue, wins over boards like it's nothing and gains unlimited health+armor, it's just too much.
Make it 0 mana, add 2 combined choose one cards to your hand and NOT shuffle an extra copy and we'll be good. As it stands mycelium druid is just too polarising.
Oh, and ban twig. Pretty ridiculous to be facing a 16 mana opponent on turn 6 that seems to happen all the time.
I agree, marvelous mycelium is too good. I think it warps the meta a bit. You have to plan your deck with a way to beat it. I have chosen to go with the priest insta-win quest. But, I've seen lots of other ways to combat it.
I think I'd be less harsh against it though. Make it the same, but you only get the standard version of the choose one card. Still infinite, still pretty good. But, a bit less impactful. I think it would be enough to bring it into line with some other rewards, instead of being an outlier like it is now.
Twig I don't mind as much. It's pretty strong in the early games, but it starts to lose power as it's consistency drops in the later games. A lot of cards are like that. I play against a ton of decks/cards that are OP in the first 3 matches, but by the 6th match I'm sure they just can't compete. I'm not really sure why folks enjoy playing decks like that, I prefer building a deck that can go 12 wins. But, I see them constantly in the early matches. They beat me, I tip my hat, and once I get my 2nd passive, I know they are toast forevermore.
I haven't played much Duels since the latest expac. but watching Regis Killbin just highlights the frustration and consistency that's possible with the decks in duels. There doesn't seem to be much scope for off-meta decks as they just get steamrollered by the meta decks.
Personally I think they should lower the consistency of the treasure offerings and have more generically usefull treasures to compensate (rather than consistently offering treasures based on your deck). That way you might get one good synergistic treasure but you would be unlikely to get two.
Also, infinte loop type effects (e.g. vanish every turn) should get removed or altered in some way as soon as they become apparent (particulalry those which are due to the dual-class rather than treasures). It isn't fun to play against the same cheese mechanic all the time.

What do you think?

Welp. DA is done. RIP. That settles that debate.
Have you played vs the tess/bleed/vanish deck? Stomps anything minion based. Probably loses hard to the fireball to the face passive tho.
I guess it is kinda cool. But it does bug me that Tess thinks rogue spells are from another class. Feels like a bug and not a feature to me.
Most annyoing is brann with the discover hero power. They take 5min to choose and most of the time its zephyr level discover.
I will say I have been enjoying the meta. I can actually play a control deck.
They have done a pretty good job with duels IMHO. I would like new sets more often though. Would like to play shudderwock again

OP decks for the first 3 battles are a quick way to progress the weekly quest. I usually grind that one out in half an hour that way.
