HTF can you counter this? They have taunt and a divine shield and never lose it.

I don't know the situation you're describing (because you didn't really describe it) but Automaton doesn't inherit any buffs so I don't think it can be the card you're describing. 

That means its either: 1) a bug or 2) it's not automaton.  If I was to guess, it's Adaptive Amalgam which does inherit things like divine shield and taunt and can be played multiple times.

Solution:  If it's a bug - do nothing.  Blizzard will fix.  If it's Adaptive Amalgam, either stop them from buffing their little dude to moon or tech in a silence (Royal Librarian), steal (Yogg-Saron, Unleashed) or poof effect (Reno, Lone Ranger) into your deck.  All of these will remove current buffs or prevent the deathrattle for your opponent.

The only deck that I know which currently uses this is Rogue, in which case they can probably duplicate Adaptive Amalgam.  That being the case, one silence, poof or steal may not be enough.

And how to stop IT? High roll something even more Broken. Automatons Are OP only because you can build end game board from first trinket. But IT does not mean, you can not outvalue them.
