Not a fan of quests so far. Maybe they aren't balanced because it hasn't been a week yet. But it feels like you either complete a quest quickly and steamroll everyone else, or you struggle to get it done and fail because everyone else was lucky enough to get low-risk, high-reward quests.
My quest was "Trigger 5 Deathrattle Minions." Which was easy to complete in 2 turns, and the reward was "Gain a plain copy of the last minion that died." Hence the 10 Fish of N'Zoth and triple Baron Rivendare. This may look like I really love the quest since it gave me an easy win. But it was just boring. I didn't do anything to progress my board. The one time I put in Tunnel Blaster just to mix things up, I lost because my deathrattles went off too early. Blah blah blah complaining about winning a BG. The point is it has dumbed down the lobby to the point of standard when Stormwind questlines were released.
What are your thoughts on the new BG Quests?
P.S. On a hypocritical note, I think Baron Rivendare should be removed from BGs. But that's another thread.
They're pretty damn fun. I quit BGs since they removed Buddies and this is close enough to that again. Some rewards are just much worse than other though, it's coin-flippy
And no, Baron should stay. Beasts as a whole (and sometimes Mech too) rely on the guy. Mechs got the whole Grease Bot sweatshop now but Beasts don't have an alternative. He also has to stay on your board (and alive) for him to even work, other comps don't really have the same issue.
I think they are ok. Not great, but ok. I think they learned with Buddies that their technical skills do not match up with their creative ones. Thus, quests are quite bland by comparison. Frankly, I am ok with this as they are working within their limits. I'm curious how long these will stay in though. I feel like it will get boring fast.
I’m not a fan. They can make some blowout games and sometimes you’re completely screwed by the third turn. Denathrius can have some combos that are unbeatable, the make left and rightmost minions golden combined with theotars parasol in a beast build comes to mind. If you get stuck with a bad quest, either it takes too long or doesn’t have a good payoff, you can just be out of the game. There are quests that conflict with hero’s too, like ones that make you buy elementals and naga when you are playing patches or menagerie rewards when you are ysera. I think that quests were a cool idea, but in practice they leave a lot to be desired.
They suck. The mode has been in a MAJOR decline ever since they removed buddies.
At first I was like, well this is sort of like buddies, obviously not as good, but better than nothing!
I still think it's better than the "regular" meta, but it's already getting old, and boring. Where I wasn't bored of buddies when they removed them.
I think the major problem is most of the quest rewards aren't that clever. Granted, the more clever ones, like the refresh one, are pretty op.
Generally I like that they seem to have responded to the buddy love with quests, but I'm not sure if even several updates will solve the malaise I am feeling. I'm doing pretty well too, was as high as rank 50, but I haven't been playing much since then.
One thing I think they should've done, in addition to quests, is drastically change each class. Dragons are massively upgraded with a pretty op tier 2 dragon, the new demon however is more a "for everyone and every class" kind of thing, not demon specific.
I came back to BG after they removed buddies, quest gave it a refreshing twist without relying on hero choice.
they should remove a bit of the rng or make the conditions at the same completion level for the quest
Sometimes you need to trigger 5 death rattle minions(very easy especially with demons)
two games later you can pick the same quest but now you have to spent like 45 gold ffs😂😂
The 45 gold quests are usually hefty rewards like the yogg saron or free 5 or 6 star minion
