They are removing buddies. I never thought they'd reverse that.
I may actually play BG again.
I never stopped playing, but I did prefer the mode before buddies. I got tired of it pretty quick as well as all the bugs they introduced. Happy to go back to boring old Battlegrounds lol.
I'm actually surprised that more people than not seem to dislike buddies. I personally really liked them and hope they'll return someday. The first few BG games felt kinda boring without them, even with the addition of nagas.

I also had to "gear down" my excitement first. A new tribe is a big change, just not half as big as an extra dimension to every hero. I get that all tribes should have a chance to be played without any external influence and it's fine with a break, but I'll be looking forward to buddies return.

I would like to see a poll of this. As with all things you usually don't go talk about something unless you are dissatisfied with it. Which in this case was definitely me lol. I genuinely liked them at first. Then after a couple weeks I was apathetic. Then after a month or so I just wanted them gone.
The things I disliked started to add up quickly too. First it was balance (which I thought was great before buddies), then the fact that the buddy takes up board space, then it was the broken interactions (my favorite was one with Bigglesworth and getting an Amalgadon from Faelin that I couldn't play lol), then it was that it ruined certain heroes for me. The last few weeks I was conceding so many games because I just didn't want to play the vast majority of heroes.
To be fair last night's games felt boring, but it was kind of nice lol. I didn't have to panic going to tier 5 and felt less like I was going to die every turn. There are many issues I want fixed as noted in another thread, and I think buddies was another throw shit at the wall and see what sticks situation. Probably the design philosophy of the entirety of Hearthstone these days frankly.
I think buddies were not healthy for the game, but we are all kind of high-roll junkies and got addicted to the power plays that were possible. Now the game slowed down a lot and we are missing this 'high'
High rolling has always been a thing, it's really just how unique every class became, with their own little unique gameplans tied to their hero powers and buddies. It's not the buddies fault that dong end games became more prevalent. Anyways before that other things were a problem, but the biggest problem to me was a lack of variety, options, routes you could take. Buddies solved that and unfortunately I don't think buddies will be back anytime soon, maybe a once a year thing. Personally I think they should be a staple.
This game is utterly boring now, with new mechanics not helping in mitigating that. Removing buddies was a step back, as Battlegrounds became less strategy oriented, and more RNG based... once again.
A few yers back (Patch 20.8.0.86601 - Patch 21.2.0.91456) were avaliable Darkmoon prize and had 25% chance to appear in a Battlegrounds game. Maybe this could be a good solution for buddies.

Buddies were a fun addition for a while but definitely glad it's not permanent. They made the game a lot messier, with a bunch of broken interactions
Glad to see buddies leave
They were fun while they lasted. I’m glad they are leaving, but there were some fun and over the top builds.
Count me as someone who loved the variety buddies added, I will probably be playing the mode less.
