Firstly, im a fan of the Buddies and the difference they bring to BGS.
However, to me, they have made my old friend Lightfang Enforcer pretty much unplayable in the current game - especially at Tier 5 - he is now just too slow and weak to help scale your tribe, with Menagerie builds all but gone from the game.
Its a shame, as playing Menagerie used to be a real favourite of mine and a go to if Bob didnt give you a clear tribe strategy earlier on, with Lightfang being central to that build.
I dont even think Lightfang would be much of a factor if he was buffed down to Tier 4....maybe even Tier 3?
Cant claim to be a top player - im usually somewhere around the 7k mark, but watch alot of Super JJ, RDU, Kripp, Sjow etc and dont ever really see Lightfang used at higher levels....but would be interested to hear if anyone still sees a place for one of my favourite BG minions whilst the Buddies are around?
It was dead before buddies. I think it was the change that changed a lot of the tribe's cards, the one that added cards like lightspawn and tarecgosa, it boosted the power level and scaling of all the tribes to a point that lightfang couldn't keep up anymore.

Even with Ragnaros he eventually becomes your pivot and almost never makes it to the end comp. A buff by bringing him down to t4 would be quite weclome frankly...
Lightfang's felt weak for a while even in menagerie when compared to Brann shenanigans (brannigans?) or Blackthorne. Menagerie's not too bad, I find; currently sitting at about 7k without pass, though, so not top-tier, and generally only have three tribes because of space until I get amalgams.
If the buddies didn't eat up a space with tribeless then Lightfang would stand more of a chance.
Yeah, it was week before.. even extremely early discovered LF with Toggwagle for example is not gonna help against Elementals, Dragons etc, the scale is just week. I would like to see it buffed, or some changes to managerie strategies overall..

As per my OP, im not even sure making him a T4 minion would make that much difference....wonder what others think?
The problem is that menagerie isnt as strong as it was 2 metas (or so) before. And with buddies, it got even worse (except of course a few heroes) because some buddies push you to stick to 1 tribe. If you get lightfang now, it is usually too late, just like Nomi. On tier 4, lightfang in my opinion would be way too strong, that could totally snowball out of control if you get it early.
LF at tier 4 IS OP, but I reckon that although it's not the better half of tier 5, it's viable. Yeah, Reno and Rag are classic, Curator doesn't Really need it, Whelp Smuggler is MUCH better for it, but also with George (because contant buffing DS minions is very strong), Zephrys (who triples its initial 5er), some tribal buddies who stay (cookie, alakir, etc), and even rafaam Gala finding LF turn 4 makes for easy scaling that allows powerlevelling.
Much like Nomi it's a late addition pretty early, but unlike Nomi it scales immediately, and as such a better short-term minion which Jugs without spending gold.
As far as 'solution' - buffing it ti give +2/+3 seems good enough for me. It's not much, but it's more than enough.
It's fine as a spot buff, but Menagerie is no longer something you go for when things aren't going well, it's a build where you have to be super lucky from the first turn on to pull off. Often involving quilboars, and rarely ever planned, just usually a, "oh, I have 4 big good minions from different tribes, fancy that". Even then Lightfang has little to do with it working out.

I fully agree - but thats exactly what i feel is the biggest shame of all, as we have really lost what was a true effective build with Lightfang at the centre of it. It wasnt unbeatable - no build really is - but it was effective and very much was an option when Bob was being a dick, as he often is.
I guess it is what it is nowadays. And probably worse for us 7k plebs than the top players to boot.
At the very least it should buff itself. The scaling won't ever keep up with full tribal comps, but would at least make your 7th spot not a complete liability.

My magic will tear you......oh.

If you have ragnaros or reno it's pretty sweet. Otherwise it's often just a filler for slot 7 before the last round.
Quite probably right to be honest.

Maybe t4 and a slight buff incease like +1/1 more.
At t5 lightfang comes way to late considering the upgrade to 5 is slower now and other scaling minions are in avg around t3
It should probably move to tier 4, as of now its only somewhat decent with Ragnaros and Curator if they get it early
