I always go discover first, go to tavern 3, and then choose to tier up in 5 turns. Goes very well with gold especially if you roll token on turn 1. Also if you manage to get 3 minions from tavern 3 at turn 4, it gives you a huge advantage at the start without sacrificing much HP. What's more, is on tier 3 you can find more minions that will stay with you for the whole game so it's nice to increase your chance of finding those minions.
But I've seen pro players stick with discovers only or tier up in 5 turns at turn 1. Tho usually its as I said.
It´s hard to say. Typically people go Iron Forge turn 1 and then upgrade tier once they get their discover. This seems better than going for the tavern upgrade on turn 1. Going for the upgrade on t1 makes you rush to level and you usually just level from 3 - 4 or 4 - 5. Going with discover a minion quest on t1 gives you more time and then the tavern upgrade is usually from 5 - 6 which is the best value.
Lately some people go with the +2 attack on t1 into discover a minion on t2 and then tavern upgrade once you discover the minion. This gives a lot of time and the upgrade is usually guaranteed to be from 5 - 6.
I've also seen Dog just go with the discover a minion quest the entire game and destroy lobbies so I suppose the answer depends. Personally I find +2 attack, discover into tavern upgrade works best for me. Gives me time to build a decent board and not have to stress about power leveling while my crotch is getting stomped on.
I've had success with both discover and upgrade as the first, followed by discover all until the last two rounds. I think the discover is better if you can get a 2gold minion on turn 1 in order to tier up to 3 on turn 3.
You pick 5 turn level up, you stay on 1 for an extra turn or 2 trying to accumulate pairs then level up hoping to have triples lined up to get Tier 6 units.
I did extremely well. I finished first place and had 3 units with over 100 health (one was a 200/200).
I am not saying this is the "right" strategy -- but I think the theory for 5-3-3 goes like this:
1. It is easiest to triple Tier 1 units, there are more copies of Tier 1 units. 2. While on Tier 1, you can only get Tier 1 units, increasing the odds of finding pairs. 3. If you have a couple of triples in the Tavern, do not buy --- freeze and buy when you are Tier 5 to get Tier 6 triples. 4. You want to be at Tier 5 on 8 mana. Tier up on 6 (2), 7 (3), 8 (4) and the free Tier puts you at Tier 5.
Anyway, I tried this and it worked for this particular game. I did fall to 12 health assisted a little by the new 15 damage cap until someone dies.
But maybe it is risky and 3-5-3 is the safe way.

What is proper Galewing strategy?

Missing lethal since June 2015.
I found a google doc at reddit with the different level up stats for the heroes: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1emiRqID1NNDf3NiQxkaKrrbdO891Hl7MWr48DewAhLQ/edit#gid=0
This strategy works the best for me as well.

I've used the 3-5-3 strategy and do ok, but HSReplay say 24% chance for first place -- but I don't feel I get those results.
Just 5 minutes ago, I tried the 5-3-3 strategy I saw Savjz do in this video:
