Months of no content or updates. Removing prizes was a terrible idea. Meta has devolved into mid-range bully boards with taunt. It is very boring and predictable. I just YOLO every game hoping to high roll and punish the tavern 3 cowards. Some even stay on 2 and 1 longer.
Such a popular mode and so neglected. Makes me sad. Wont spend money on this expac.
Removing cards prizes was fine, but they also removed the likes of Zerus..the game feels a bit stale.
It's highlighted my main issue with the mode - the first few turns you have no freedom. See a sellemental or token on 1, you must buy. on 6 gold you can't roll, you must buy whatever shit is in tavern, level after that and again buy whatever shit is in tavern, then you must go to four asap, sometimes a turn early but you need to be on 4 so you can tripple into a 5 if you get a tripple.
Tavern tiers 1 to 3 become irrrelevant, unless playing a hero like Arianna. When you hit that tripple on 4 you get either a baron or a nomi or a brann or Hoggar or lightfang...or hell even a Mythrax or Razorgore you can finally start to actually play the game.
The mode is becoming played out, it needs more complexity. Badly. I don't really mean Prizes back, that is just more power spikes. I'm talking more tavern tiers. I'm talking more health for the heroes. I'm talking more cool minions with cool effects. I'm talking making the endgame more than just stats vs poisonous vs divine shields. Blizzard will look at the numbers and think "people are still loving playing, we shouldn't change it up too much" but this would be a mistake - they need to be brave and innovate.
I guess BG sees less support cause they have introduced a lot of other new content they have to contiuously work on: Duels, mercenaries. BGs earns to little cash for the company to focus on .
Its a shame, this mode is really fun, but becomes stale too quickly. About 10-15 old heroes need revision. Taunt meta is boring, I would prefere they fixed beasts and demons to be viable instead. But hey, they add 1 new hero and call it a "patch " ... ridiculous

Exactly, the mode has no choices. It is Bob playing Solitaire.
And my last few games, I would be a Tier 1-2 hero and get smacked around a bit by guys with actual synergy and be at 22 health at 7 mana. What choices did I make? Well -- none, actually. You can't re-roll on 6 Mana or 7 Mana. Or on 3 Mana or 4 Mana.
And if you get a Triple or get to Tier 4 or Tier 5, apparently Bob has to like you or you won't find a build-around unit and then lose to guy that has 3 build around units.
At some point Battlegrounds derailed from decision points game to a Bob's Favor game.

Getting really sick of taunts. Arm of the Empire buff wasn't necessary. It's become an auto-buy for pretty much everyone, along with Champion of Y'Shaarj if you can find it relatively early. Paired with Acolyte of C'Thun you basically cruise past anybody without some significant HP buffs on their minions early and mid-game and it removes tribal flavor from all but the late game (where it's usually just replaced by Amalgadons, anyways).

I quit playing it.
Now it is actually Bob playing solitaire.
They did a great job of removing all the strategy and decision-based factors from the game mode.

That's general discussion... Someone give this person a kool aid please lol
Great art can never be created without great suffering.
bgs is a very "its fun until it isn't" mode for me, I have fun for 15 min then I quit and play something else
I dropped about 1000 points in MMR because i keep resetting for a fun hero. Climbing is boring, playing fun heroes is the only way
Too many underpowered and boring heroes. Taunt meta is really dull. Amalgadon needs to go.

Aren't we getting an update in a few days? It's understandable for a mode to be stale the last week(s) before an update...

This + 100%.
My magic will tear you......oh.
Well Said!

Very true, now game plan in most of my BG matches looks like this:
There's indeed very little decision making, because midrange builds crush everything and game ends too fast.
It feels played out to me. I've stopped playing it mostly and didn't get the pass this time.
The whole game feels played out actually. Passing the time with an aggro Mage deck out of spite.

Thank you for that post !
Number 1 change necessary : ban Amalgadon
Really fun to die on turn 8 thanks to playing against a high rolling Patches 3 times due to the amazing match making system. Great state LOL
