Alexstraza used to be a workable hero, but in this taunt meta even highrolling the dragons is not nearly enough, even with a triple wired.
The taunt minions grant so much attack that even supposed "Tier 5" minions like Razorgore not only are no longer big minions, but often cannot kill even a single taunt even with 2 turns of all full dragon's board of buffs.
The "taunt" minions really need to go, they are unfair and not fun. I thought they were part of the Darkmoon event.
Speaking of needing to go ... why is Cthun still here or the other old gods? Cthun is the only great one, Nzoth is nearly unplayable. And Cthun makes several heroes silly like Van Cleef (hero power that buffs +14 or one that maybe buffs +3?)
Alex is not a dragon only hero, her hero power more often helps you to not die immediately when you go to tier 5 rather than go dragons. Worst case scenario it is two gold. She is not good, but not the worst hero in the game, same with Van Cleef, Deryl, Deathwing etc. It's not about taunt meta, it's about power creep. Some heroes are always gonna be worse than the others. I agree about C'Thun though, looks a bit too strong (still not the most oppressive hero we ever seen).
I agree that taunt shit need to go. It is not a tribe, it just pollutes minion pool. I hope they remove it soon.
Cthun is really token dependant hero, it also almost never takes 1st place, therefore he is perfectly fine. Alexstraza needs to be buffed to discover dragons from tier 3 and above. There are lots of old heroes that need real buff, like Pudge, AFK, Edwin, murloc, etc.
Also, demons need a real buff. Whos idea was it to remove floating watcher, only real demon minion to scale "early"? Maybe they need to add some resource generator demon, that puts random demon in your hand each turn (there is even a unit for that in wild I believe). Beasts are really hard to pull off as well, no scaling there. Murlocs can need a slight buff too.
I can win just fine with the "taunt shit" as you call it, but yeah it completely destroys tribal synergies and makes the game ridiculous.
Buying a couple of reborn 1 mana taunts, a couple of orange rock elementals and getting 2 Tier 3/4 taunt jackers and you'll be in final 4.
But except for the ridiculous Patches the Pirate (why hasn't he been nerfed?), all other use of Tribal synergies get blown away because making Tier 1 and Tier 2 Taunt minions into God Level Killers is stupid.
Patches the Pirate is joke level strong. Unless you get the worst luck or don't know how to play him, it is likely you'll finish at least #2 with a 9 game win streak and have 4 triples by the time everyone has 10 mana.
Why the hell is that something one specific hero can do?
And although she is my favorite hero to play because she produces easy blowout wins like no other hero, something needs done about Janice Barov. But truth be told, why is she so incredibly broken? Because you can re-roll the Tavern 10 times and not find anything useful to what you are doing -- this actually wasn't a problem in 2019 first release Battlegrounds -- so Janice is only so strong because the Tavern offerings are so very poor on average that being able to replay 1 solid battlecry minion every turn is "game breaking".
I am hoping the Battlegrounds update with the next expansion somehow fixes/addresses these problems.
Patches is pretty nuts, but he's so much fun to play, imo... I'd hate to lose him. Pirates have their issues at high ranks, so it's nice to have the ability to finish strong with them every once in a while.
C'thun is just boring. Even if he weren't t1, he's just the most simplistic powerful hero since Tirion. There's no deeper strategy to him that a reasonably intelligent person couldn't figure out the first time they played him.
Dragons are in a weird state; always have been, though. Controllable divine shield makes them uber powerful when you have all the pieces, but they have no real scaling potential aside from a single T6 minion. They need midgame help. Murozond dilutes the Alex pool for sure, and T4 probably needs a rework. Herald of Flame is a fun meme card when you obliterate a board of tokens, but I'd like to see it replaced with a permanent scaler.
Patches never seems to feel nuts, though, obviously, I'm offered him very rarely (and doing little BGs due to meta anyway). Half the lobby goes pirates if they're available, so he's just so neutered that you're dead early (or, rather, into the sub-20 HP range early, which is still one shot, even on turn seven, because highrollers by then have Ghastcoilers and boats). Maybe it's the low MMR range I'm at; feels very much like another meta where no pass means don't bother turning up, just this time you don't get a rating floor to fall back on. Getting a free small pirate every turn or a cheap one every other turn doesn't compensate for being unable to adapt to getting cut.
Dragons have no good reason to be in them before TT6, and that makes Maly often too late. I mean, Razorgore is okay, but doesn't scale enough to compensate for everything else being meh before you get Maly and then get him running. Can only really work if you're rushing to 6.
(ETA - no, I will not spend most of my limited time to play on twitch. Just because I know it'll be recommended, I'll get this in first.)

English is not my native language, so, with a high probability, mistakes were made.
