Situation, Had golden macaw, golden baron, and 2 reg Goldrin + some rando other beasts. I ended up going second to elementals 4 times in a god damn row.... I hadn’t lost a single round until then. Weak ass 25/25 mega wind fury elemental singlehandedly beat my team every round. The guy had 5 hp left and I couldn’t go first a single time.
They should track going firsts so that it’s closer to 50/50 cause it is a bigger part then building a team or econ.
Solution : coin flip if both people the same number of times going first, otherwise whom ever has gone first less, goes first. Simple effective way to help balance the game a little more.
I’m not saying it’s “Rigged” I’ve been on the awesome end of that coin flip too. I also know the mode is 90% RNG. But as a dev they should implement fixes that make it feel less shitty and promote the overall experience/fairness cause happier people play games longer and spend more money....
These McCaw + Baron + Godrinn builds are extremely sensitive to who attacks first. I remember going up against a guy with such a build and my deck tracker's simulation gave each one a 50% chance to win (with a flat 0% chance of a tie) and expected average damage around 30-35 either way...
Assuming battlegrounds players understand the basics of the mode it’s 99% rng. The player that gets a better hero will likely win, the player offered stronger minions will likely win, the player who goes first will likely win,
there is no fairness in battlegrounds by design. Players who want to take pride in playing intelligently should go play chess. Hearthstone is for kids who like to lulz about crazy rng.
First of all, some of the comments here are laughable.
"Assuming everyone is equally skilled, it's all luck" can be said about anything.
Now on to the particular subject, when playing Beast builds far in the late game, Elistra the Immortal is unfortunately a necessity to avoid being destroyed by a Windfury minion. Another solution is to look for a golden Selfless Hero and taunt it, but often there is not enough time for that.

I like how you invent statements that were never said to support your argument, it’s called a strawman and it shows you for the complete idiot you are. If you’re going to quote someone quote them you retard don’t change words to pump your fragile ego.
I also like how your follow up “strategy” is completely based on being randomly offered minions in a process you have no control over.
I bet your real nice in person and only those big of a douche online though.

I didn't quote anyone because i did not want to answer one person, but rather a number of comments claiming Battlegrounds is almost entirely luck.
Your statement in particular was the most ridiculous, so i understand why you would take offense and think i was targeting you specifically.
Luck is a large factor in a single game of Battlegrounds, however it doesn't take a large number of games, or a large skill gap for the better player to shine. If you want to witness it personally, all you have to do is watch a friend who is 1k rating above or below yours and you will see that the number of different choices they make from what you would have made will be much higher than you expect.
As for the argument about "being randomly offered a minion", the odds of not finding a specific minion when you are rolling only for that are pretty damn low, unless most of it's copies have been snatched up.
One match I counted attacking 2nd 8 times in a row!! And I would've been favored every time if I just attacked first. Sometimes the game just wants you to lose I guess :D
I dont understand why Blizz cant implement a system whereby after R1 (which is just random), whomever has the lower placing attacks first.
Unless you're Illidan of course.
But that aside, can anyone point out any flaws to this, which seems (IMO) much fairer than it being apparent RNG, or bias, or whatever its currently based on....?
I'd rather that they keep track of whether each player attacked first or second in the previous round and try to alternate that as much as possible, with a hard rule that you can't go first (or second) 3 matches in a row. A very similar logic is applied for example to pairings at open chess tournaments w.r.t white/black color.

It would make powerleveling the only option, as having high health in the mid-to-late game would be a huge disadvantage.
Even with rebalancing, whenever you lower the RNG of any game like this you run the risk of the game getting "solved". Meaning players may figure out an optimal build that everyone needs to follow religiously. That is a common problem board game designers face.
It feels a little like a no win situation then. Game is chuntered at as first attack is too OP in certain areas - but then put in a measure to balance it up, and the game becomes 'solvable'.
This was not a problem at all before they added Pirates and Parrots. First attack still had significance, but not so much that it could feel like a coinflip.
It is still rarely as bad as in the specific situation that is described in the original post, but now that they've even added a hero like Al'Akir, first attack feels too important.
This was always a problem - the game is rigged and software driven. this shouldn’t come as a surprise as it’s obvious.
and I don’t mean rigged towards you / me personally. I mean rigged as it’s programmed to help one / two players in each lobby. You are lucky once, “unlucky” multiple times by default

you do realize the game IS, indeed, rigged towards one player
I do agree with you on this tbh...but they won’t do anything about.

Let's cut out the personal attacks. Discuss the topic, not eachother.
