I don't play Battlegrounds very much, before the last update my rating was ~ 8k. After the most recent update I got up to 8k again, but all of a sudden in the last month or so, I can't play a single game and get better than 8th place.
I'm down to 5.8k rating. I have no idea how this happened. I feel like I'm making max tempo plays all the time just to try to scrape out a 7th, which I can never do.
Do I feel like I'm getting unlucky? Absolutely. If I'm favoured to win a fight by 85% or something I ALWAYS lose it. I never get triples. Sometimes I'll play 6 games in a row and not win or tie a single fight in all 6 of those games. I'm semi-convinced my account is tagged to always run bad.
Anyway. I understand variance. Theres probably some definitely bias in what I'm saying. I would love someone who is good to watch a couple of games and maybe they can help / reset my account's luck.
There was a meta change a few weeks or so ago; no real reason for it, just everyone seems to have decided in unison to be less greedy and aim at midgame. There's a huge RNG swing in BGs, though. Less synergy focus, more just fat stats and tempo.
Blizzard has been steadily increasing the RNG in battlegrounds. Just like the rest of the game they need casuals and whales to be able to LuLz into wins over more skillful players. The dark moon prizes and minion changes have made the game almost entirely based on you getting a good hero (which you buy the battle pass to help with) or the roulette wheel of the minion pool.
assuming you are playing at least competently you need to play ALOT of games to reach 8k. Over the holidays I played every day for hours and got to 10k. Since work picked back up I’m having around 7k.
it’s just like ranked ladder. Pick an abusive deck and play 600-700 games and congrats you’re legend.
hearthstone isn’t a skill game beyond basics it’s a grind fest. Unless you’re a moron the answer is your not playing enough games to mitigate bad rng.
