I know that In the early days of Battlegrounds, it was ok, and on some rare occasions starred in specific builds with Kaboom Bots, Sneeds or Mechano Eggs. But these builds have only become harder to pull off and less worthwhile as time passed.
I can't recall the last time I intentionally picked him. Neither can I recall the last time I've seen it played by anyone else. I only get reminded of its existence when I get a 6 in a game with mechs. And it's actually getting a little annoying. When I try to go for an early 6 and take a good amount of damage taking that risks, it just feels like a bad joke when I can choose between Kangor's, Zapp and maybe Imp Mama. Even with Mechs in my comp (admittedly, I also rarely pick Sneeds), Imp Mama seems to be better to fill an empty spot, just to survive another turn.
With Kangor's Apprentice not being an effective endgame tool for mech builds, not being useful as a 6-star minion in general, and not having been adjusted the slightest since the first day of Battlegrounds (aside from its stats being reduced a few days after launch), it honestly feels like it's deliberately kept as a bad minion, a dud you can only hope to never see. And keep in mind that The Beast, The Boogeymonster and other low value cards were sorted out.
So, is there something I'm missing? Am I wrong and just not get it?
I was hoping someone could help me see it as something other than a waste of space, before the next time I see it.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he (she?) can summon back your big, taunty, poison amalgams, right? So I would guess that it could work in a menagerie build.
Personally, I see this as being a pretty difficult card to put into any specific build because there are usually better options, but this is one way I see it being useful.
would like to see him getting moved to 5*, junkbot removed/ down to 4* and a new 6* mech which has an impact... mechs right now have an okay midgame if you're lucky, but that's all they can offer
This is the only time I've used it. Put the magnetic taunt on a golden deathrattle mech and get a divine shield refresh when it dies, when Kangor's dies, and then when the golden mech dies again, but this always seems too attack order dependant to consistently win
If you have golden mechs it can still be somewhat decent if you get it as a triple early in tavern 5. It's another deflecto reset.
Doesn't work well with taunted senseis and other mechs you don't want resurrected, but can still get you some good laughs if the deflecto resets line up.
It was a pretty good card in the Junkbot meta, but it is at its weakest point ever rn. i think the whole T6 Pool is underwhelming anyway. Tripling into a 6 star minion is too much of a gamble. T5 has way stronger cards rn.
Considering they are maintaining Junkbot at 5* despite it being the weakest card in Battlegrounds for a long time, I'm pretty sure the design team intentionally wants Mechs to be one of the builds with a weak endgame.

Just a simple question I struggle finding an answer for:
What is the purpose of Kangor's Apprentice?

Low ranking BG player, out!
No, they will come back as normal 6/6 with no key-words
Long years I have studied, now I serve the Lich KIng
it's a waste of space for the most part, but you can mega scam people early on with sneed's for some hilarious fun
That's Incredible!
It is a bad minion now, used to be good when BG came out. Last 2 seasons I have seen less than 5 Kangor builds, nobody plays it anymore.
Pretty awful. Mechs need a rework.
At least it can summon gold mechs I think.

100% agree with you, at this moment Kangor's Apprentice is very weak as a T6 unit.
Same with Junkbot, very weak for a T5 unit.
Those 2 should be looked at for sure.
Used it with eggs and khadgar in greybough, ez wins. Animations are horridly long, though.

My comments refer mostly to the wild format.

mechs need a general overhaul imo.

Rank in a random game? hmmm
It's just a deflecto reset.
