I just hit someone for 42 dmg on turn 8...... This describes pretty well the current state of BGs..... I can't count how often I was just kicked out of the lobby by some insane highrolling people.
Elementals, obviously. This faction has introduced power levels that inflate way too fast, and way too reliably, to effectively make it a loser’s game to go anything else, unless you get an insane reason to go into another faction early on. Elementals get so big, so fast, that the only way to deal with it is poison, meaning demons and pirates are almost always non-viable to win. And demons especially feel turgid in the late game where your 3 damage shots are utterly laughable versus the 200 health Garr which is eating your entire board. Elementals need nerfed, obviously.
Some heroes are also just too strong early game, and if you end up chaining against several of them in a row at the start, such as sindragosa, mill house, Rafaam, you have no chance and can be almost dead by turn six which makes the rng feel so acute. You end up dependent on getting one big turn to stabilise, or you can end up blown out in a way that feels unfair.
My MMR has skyrocketed from 8000 --> 11300 in the last week.
What I have been doing is NOT playing elementals --- specifically Dragons or Divine Shield + poisonous.
I look for either Razorgore + Brann or Kalegos + anything and hope to run into a Nadina later. Alternatively I collect Selfless Heroes and try to get some Murlocs with some health + Riverdare.
I will abuse a Djinn, but I don't want the Djinn for the elementals --- I hope for a Battlecry Elemental for Kalegos or a Sellemental so I can have +2 gold for buying Battlecry minions.
Ragnaros and Garr? Trash --- I just sell those for the +1 gold.
I don't like the Djinn but find this is the easiest and most skill oriented meta Battlegrounds has ever had.
One other tip: In this meta --- DO NOT REFRESH trying to triple up unless it is that or die. Just Tier up. Do Tavern Refreshes on Tier 4 is foolish, just go to 5 and your Tier 5 minion might be right there.
Djinn is annoying and I hope he goes -- but what is incredible about Battlegrounds right now is the number of viable heroes.
You can't get a top tier hero every time, but some of the crappier heroes like Mukla with the slight buff he got -- can be strategically abused.

Oh I do love naive players like you. Love players that think they can start a game of Battegrounds and just "choose" to go Dragons or Divine Shield Poison. Your luck would have to be through the roof to be able to do this consistently. You have to take what Bob gives you.
This meta has skill? It's literally whoever triples into a Djinni/Lil Rag/Nomi first enjoys a top 4 finish. You sir are high.
I am a far better player than you, perhaps instead of being salty about how you perform poorly in this game mode, you might improve yourself by listening to superior player's advice.

you said you "skyrocketed" from 8k to 11.3k. In Poker it's called upswing and has nothing to do with skill.
That's enough of a jump to not be merely attributable to luck.

I appreciate your advice here. This is a point in the game I am having difficulty with decisions recently. I have had the feeling that I have been siding on staying at 4 and waiting for triples and elementals to cycle perhaps too long lately. Particularly if I have a Majordomo in play already or a couple potential long play triples available. It's a hard point in the game if your are behind the stat curve and or low on health to decide what to do. I think I only ever jump to 5 quickly if I feel I am at or above the average stat curve with enough life to take a beating for a couple of turns. I think I may try taking more chances here.
Game literally is Rush to Tier 5 without dying or going below 10 Hp at the moment.
Am I doing it right?
When i try anything like that with Omu, I'm dead. it just... doesn't seem to work, buying one every turn and tiering up. Try tiering up on 2, 4, 6, 7, dead. And usually a tier up on 2 wastes 2g most of the time. If I delay that, you're tiering up on 2, 5, 7,9 just like literally everyone else. Buy one and tier up each turn means you are buying tier two minions on turn 4-6. Not really cutting it. Mainly use Omu to get a slightly better board with the same tier ups as others; I'm sometimes one turn ahead and I have to spend that trying to catch up on board because you can only buy utter chaff with the start of tuen tavern refresh.
And that's not even counting the turn nine 30 damage turns, or similar stupidity.

Hahaha I’m so glad you replied in this way because it’s the truth. They don’t want decent advice. Hats off to you for speaking the truth!

Good job on the climb and thanks for trying to give tips to people, but this is just plain wrong. This is BY FAR the most RNG the game has been and LEAST skilled.

Well, I wouldn't talk that much, I still shudder at that freaking Arcane Cannon meta.
I still think they really have to tone down elementals if they want pirates to have any chance tho.

Game breaking lag.

Game is very frustrating atm.
in my experience there are two primary problems.
Elementals, obviously. Elementals are literally winning almost every single one of my lobbies. And the other things winning are Amalgadon comps.
Games are a joke right now.

That genie is such a killer. The amount of times it spawns garr or little rag to push the damage really high stinks.
Please Blizz, fix the card so it only spawns elementals at or below your tavern tier.
100% sign

Is that a murloc? Yawn....conceede!
WAIT, did'nt that already happen? I have played an awful lot of genies and never ever got those unless I jumped to tier 6.

Who cares about battlegrounds ?
When are elementals going out?
When I say going out I mean being rotated as every other tribe?
