Imagine telling people they can't open their mouths in real life because there is a high chance they will say something offensive to somebody somewhere. The loss of chat in online games is a tragedy.
Also there simply would be no time. Maybe in early turns... But the more the game progresses, the less time you have to do everything and I can't imagine having time to chat. Unless during battles, at which point, yes, it would be only cancer.
One thing to consider is that this mode is heavily luck based. I have no issue with this, but more luck involved = more likely people are to butthurt.

You hit the point so well like a sudden OTK on the face with exactly 30 HP, catching the happy opponent who think you are weak completely off guard. :P~~~
Afraid of offensive speech may only be a dummy reason for the audience. The problem can be solved easily by a mute and block function.
I guess the real reason is that, giving players a completely free chatroom is a very sensitive matter in some countries. Imagine some countries censor every sentence and image you post in a messaging APP... so that any uncensored chatroom is considered criminal in some way.
Ummm... I dont want to go political but it seems we naturally come to this observation. BTW I support super free chatroom :P~~~

Hey yeah, I always want to be bombarded with racism and sexism and homophobia while I play videogames for fun and to relieve stress.
F*** chat rooms. The tragedy is that too many gamers are utter trash people. Once they're no longer s**t for brains jack***es, then we'll talk. Chat functions in games weren't ruined by political correctness, they were ruined by folks deciding to be a**holes.

That is some people for you. You have to learn to deal with it. Or complain about to it the likes of Blizzard so we lose chat in all our games, which is what has happened.
I hate the phrase snowflake...but this as a rare time when I feel it's appropriate - we have lost chat functions in online games (which used to be an absolute standard) because of snowflakes. Not racists, not homophobes, bigots, not salty gamers with no f-bomb control, not kids who are too young to know any better, or offended feminists, hard right or left polticos, chinese censors....but perpetually whining Snowflakes with thin skin.
Exposure to these types is educational. Chatting with anyone is educational, especially if they are from other parts of the world. Over the course of my life I learned a lot from online chat in games one way or another. For the next generation, it will be gone, for fear of being offensive.
In theory I agree but this game more than most others that I've played has a particularly toxic and immature player base. It would just be a shit show.

That's such a strawman of the actual argument that I don't think it's even worth addressing but I'll bite a bit. It isn't educational to have someone add you, send you a load of expletives whilst saying they are going to rape a member of your family and then blocking you so you can't even respond. Educational is a strange word to use to be honest.
When a community is generally so immature and toxic they have to be treated like children. This isn't about people getting wound up because someone doesn't agree with them which is what you're alluding to. I would say 90% of the interactions I've had in this game have been abuse and block style communication. It doesn't offend me at all, it's obviously just empty words but at the same time it adds absolutely no value to my experience so I'm not going to bother with wanting that communication to be increased. I have literally nothing to gain from it and if you get 3 or 4 arse holes in quick succession it just becomes tiresome. I'm not interested in enabling people to act like absolute cunts because they enjoy having the freedom to do so. No one should be a sounding board for abuse simply because that's what makes someone feel better about themselves and its quite astounding that you think this should be fine.
What you are in favour of is someon being entitled to walk up to someone in the street, scream racial abuse at them without reply and then walk off before doing it to the next person they see. That doesn't happen because it's pathetic, unacceptable behaviour so don't try and take some form of high ground because you feel it should be acceptable in a game. If you think it's right to speak to people online in a completely different way to how you would if you were face to face then it says an awful lot about you. That or you genuinely would be fine with someone approaching a teenager and telling them that they are a piece of shit and they hope their family dies.
For every overly sensitive person, there is someone on the opposite end as well, the disgusting little keyboard warriors and they are just as responsible as the sensitive lot. It is then the people in the middle unfortunately that suffer.
I can already see what a chat room in this game would look like and it would just be spam, insults and mindless swearing. There is zero gain there for a socially normal person.

They do that because of nature of the communication between players in this game. Those toxic people are made worse, by the method of communcation they have left, which is duping people into friend acceptance, then quickly getting their insults in before being blocked. It makes toxic players even worse than they would toherwise be, adding another layer of percieved competition. If they could just chat freely, in an open room between 8 players, maybe only for the first few rounds do oyu really think they would be so toxic?
Absolutely online chat in games is educational. Emotionally educational and culturally educational (especially when the platform is global). Online friendships can't form if we can't communicate... for the sake of a giant safe space safety-bubble.
Those who want to block the chat automatically should be free to do so, but not giving the rest of us with spines the ability to communicate, especially in a mode like Battlegrounds...it's sad. That is no straw-man.

Imagine a chat room with all 8 players, talking about the game, their start, comp, thoughts.. just talkin bout stuff.
IMO this would make the game way more social - which makes any game more fun.
Anybody agree? I think Blizzard should totally implement this... but then again when does blizzard do things people want...
It would 100% just be BM.
Thats why blizz wont ever do it...it won't be all nice and chatty, it would become real toxic real quick.
FB thought that was a good idea for their games. And then it became junksville.
Naaah, they should add more offensive emoticons ;)
Ever played video games online?
chat in hearthstone, you gotta be out of your mind
the toxicity levels would be through the roof
video games dont have chat rooms anymore. People cant handle it anymore.
Not keen on reading some knob talking bout my mum or sister while I’m forcing murlocs

yeah i guess i see that now.... wish people werent all dicks

All we need is an "end turn" button.

No, its the worst idea. When someone sent me a friend request almost the 99% of the times are insults.
If the people takes time to do that imagine this with no restriction.
