Since the Patch, i see Murlocs winning more and more again. (8725 MMR) And thats no good Sign for me, because it means the good old "Midrange Builds" got weaker. Before the Patch everyone was fighting with like the Divine Shield Dragon and a Highmane until the End very often, and it was solid when you grew them( #Menagerie Builds u know) Now we go for Macaw most of the times( who eliminates the "'Midrange" Deathrattle beast) and then it gets quite Highrollie. And then there are Lobbies were are 1- up to freaking 3!!! Low Tier Players, who force the buff Saurolisk, which punish the Highroller neither. So the best Midrange build somehow PPl go for is Pirates, but to speak for myself, most of the Times i try to avoid them xD ( Still dont find them that good, as much as i like them, but somehow the Buff Guy is stupid, and you also need High Tier Pirates to pop-off)
So guess who is the Profiteur of this Meta??- yes youre Right! -- Its Murlocs again! At least thats what i experienced beteween 8500-9000MMR.
Seems like it. When those mid-game losses aren't as punishing, it gives you a lot more time to assemble the right pieces for it. I've had a lot of games lately where I felt like I was so weak going into my T5 turns that I'd never survive long enough to scale, but then just didn't take a whole lot of damage over the next few turns and eventually stabilized.
Sucks that menagerie is no longer viable. I wonder if un-nerfing Lightfang Enforcer would move the needle at all? I thought it should have been done after they removed Amalgam, anyways.
Yeah, I guess the risk of pushing Mechs or Beasts out of the pool weakens menagerie to begin with. I'm not sure what the ideal Pirate is, either. Most of them are so synergy dependent that they're not very useful in a menagerie comp. I guess Goldgrubber is decent. Nat Pagle, Extreme Angler is so-so. Would you ever run Yo-Ho-Ogre?
Still seems like they're the weakest menagerie tribe other than Demons, though.
Managerie issue is there are no real support cards except for Lightfang Enforcer which comes in too late and it is usually just a desperate pick in case you failed to find core cards that'd allow you to commit to a tribe and your board is a multi-race mess.
Both Zoobot and Menagerie Magician are just tools to get thru early game AND they got huge indirect nerf since tribe rotation means their ability gets cut from 3 to 2 targets most of the time.
IMO after the first round of balance changes, the next card people will complain about is Goldgrubber.
Typically, if I'm playing Pirate, it's because i happened into one of the keystone pieces in the late midgame. I think YoHo is just a good card in general, and it helps guarantee Admiral buffs in the endgame.
Yes, murlocs are more consistent now because Sarolisk strats are popular which make matches go longer, longer matches mean late-game strategies like murlocs are more viable.
Maybe Blizz could ad a new Buff Card, too. Like "give a Beast/and a Pirate +1/+1" at T3 or so too.
I mean somehow i feel that the whole Buff- aspect, went short after the last Patches, to some degree. Imagine "Amalgam" Meta, it was all about Buffing those in every Comp. I mean the new Cards, made a build (the beast one) available where you need no buffed up Minion theoretically. Or a Card like Goldgrubber(I like it) that just buffs itself. Im not sure, and dont want to "overanalize" it, and im not even a Fan of "Menagerie", but maybe if theres some Buff Card, or some new Card at T3 or maybe 4, that would be more healthy for the Game.
(sry for my bad England, me no Murican or Englishman)
If murlocs aren't banned, someone usually wins the lobby going murlocs. However you still have like 1 in 3 chance to win vs 2 in 3 to go 6th or 8th. But some lucky person tends to make it with murlocs now, though if you play pirates you can sometimes just push them out of the game fast enough with a 20+ damage hit.
having tried many times, murlocs is truly not viable at all. The game is too fast. Yes as usual some people will high roll it but you have almost zero chance to make it work.

FWIW, I just won a 7K lobby with Lightfang, but I got her and Hydra really early.
Menagerie is still possible, but I agree it is worse than it used to be. Pirates appear to have pushed it down a peg.

Piloted Shredder, Knife Juggler, Mad Scientist, Dr. Boom
Need to be removed from this game

Yes, murlocs are likely to win against Macaw so that's why.

Edit: It seems Mechs are the best kinda "Midrange Build" right now. I feel somehow they are quite underrated atm

It's so incredibly stupid... poison needs to just go away... or give it to every other tribe. It is the one mechanic that breaks the game
Good Point!
You get at Least a fair Chance if those Shitters cant trade 1v2 most of the Time.
I would appreciate such a Change!

Are you sure? I have been second place for 5 games in a row now lost to murlocs as the first.
That dude just complains about everything. Nothing is good except for the 1 thing he things is good at the moment. And that 1 thing changes daily.
Like, he literally contradicted himself one day later.
