1 build and 3 or 4 heroes are just OP at the moment. If you dont get at least 1 of those factors, if not both then you're going to lose. I don't play much (around 6000 - 6500) but like to watch a bit. Macaw + Goldrinn + Baron finish the game so early due to the massive amount of dmg that combo does. I've seen winning boards now with less starting stats than 1 minion had at end game in the past.
// I fell you brother. I plundged to 7100 about month ago. I just lost some gene or understanding or goddamn luck and most likely a combination of these 3 and cant get back to 8k
Yeah, settle down, and stop believing urban dictionary posts.
Meta is not an acronym. Meta means "of itself"
As in "meta tags", the tags hidden in a website
Or, "meta analysis" an analysis of a product or company itself...
The Hearthstone "meta" is the performance of the game itself. It's a Greek word that has been used for much longer than any of the English words that could be in an acronym.
Due to how fast games are now, you generally get less chances to turn something into a working comp or get a few good key pieces. it's way, way more highroll than before and luck is even more emphasized.
That in itself, might be a winning strategy tho (in the long run). Roll aggressively or go bust.
Meta is a greek term that has many meanings, one of which is « over and above ». It is thus used to refer to the theory you get when you place yourself on a higher level of analysis (meta-ethics is the science of different ethical views, each of which gives you a theory of human actions). So, in video games, the meta is the gamestate as it exists across many different particular games, and can be contrasted with « in game ».
clever acronym though !
As for BG, it is nice to see I’m not alone loosing like mad. Explanations given above seem accurate. I’ll add that Arcane canon seems too strong and swingy in the early game, preventing your attacks to ever go off when combined with the 2/1 deathrattle pirate. This makes me take 10+ damage quite frequently early on...
You can force saurolisk and almost always top 4. It's pretty boring but it works. I quit doing that after going from 7500 to 9000 with just 2 hero choices.
The game is very fast and lots of people never achieve any build, if you just protect your life total you get to make it to the end and top 3-4.
The game got a lot more random with so many "attack first and win" mechanics.
Watching Dog, Savjz, and other high rated streamers. Yet I still lose like mad.
What am I missing? What is happening to this game? I have the biggest frustration that I can`t tell how I lose game after game. What am I missing?
You’re not missing anything, this game mode has increased in RNG significantly over time also while the skill gap has narrowed. I’ve seen huge streaks of both wins and losses, from 8K to 6k and back. Blizzard desires every mode to have a a wide RNG span so casuals can still win because those are the people who are more likely to spend money. High skill caps and rng mean casuals lose, don’t understand why and never come back.
if you want to consistently and slowly climb like the streamers you have to play like them. 6-8 hrs a day to minimize rng. It’s just like ladder.except you have no control over what you are playing with.

darn it. This makes sense. I mean, I have some friends that worked their ways up from low MMR such as 3-4k because they keep rolling high or get the new heroes which are OP. Also, reading through different threads and posts on bnet. forums, I understand that there`s a change in how fast the game spans right now, due to exactly what a @pox said: RNG attacks, and no more building up a synergy with minions. Heck, I haven`t been able to play Menagerie at all since the release of the new patch.
Menagerie is completely dead. There's basically almost no builds anymore, the game is so fast you just take whatever crap you can and the game is over when one person gets murlocs or beast assembled.
Canon, macaw and pirates make the "go first win" an insanely huge problem.
The game desperately need a damage cap but every time I suggest this on reddit, the waterbrains hate it. So there's no hope to balance this mode, they all play at 4-5k mmr and perceive the game to be like 3 turns slower than it really is. They were concerned with mackerel, which was not an actual problem. It game divine shield comp a chance late-game and it gave a losing comp a comeback. Now that it's gone menagerie, mechs and divine shield comps are not viable first place strategies.
People just hated it because it could juggle shields and randomly win. But now they love the pirate boat. Idiots.
Idk so far ive been winning with beast comps, i literally forced it every game when that tribe was playable. Got numerous b2b wins, other than that, murlocs and some weird menagerie builds work for me.

Beast Macaw Build is beyond broken and Macaw needs to be removed asap. Most unhealthiest thing they brought so far.
EVERY heroes best build is the same. Only 8% of wins stated from hsreplay are not that build in some way. Other way around, you don't get it you get fucked.
Kinda strange how things fluctuate. When Dragons came out I felt like I had a really firm grasp of the meta early on, but I ended up just treading water for a few weeks.
With this patch, I'm not watching streamers, I still have no idea how to take Pirates late game, and I feel like I'm forcing Murlocs way too often, yet I've climbed from 7800-8800 over the last week in relatively few games.
My thought is that it's easy to develop bad habits depending on how you perceive the meta. It may help to watch some different streamers who may take slightly different angles or at least explain things in a different way. Otherwise there are just so many decision points in each round that it's tough to self-correct and tell where you're making your mistakes.

Get out of here with your well-reasoned, calm approach! This is no place for such tom foolery!

Like I said in one thread, betting on high-roll is a valid strategy in the long run currently. So forcing murlocs in most games will most likely result in a net positive.

META - most effective tactics available.
Plot: 8400 rating, steady climb for myself.
Pirate patch is released.
I plunge to 6900' loss after loss.
Watching Dog, Savjz, and other high rated streamers. Yet I still lose like mad.

Let’s start with mode it a auto battler and 100% RnG
to all people who say meta is not an acronym: it is, for me now (:
