Been playing a lot of BG since this patch and have been seeing a lot of salt on how "unfair" pirates are, but I feel like it may actually be pretty fair right now so I'd like to just throw some rare love out there. There is definitely one card that I think needs fixed, but first the love.
Pirates - I think it's easy to hate on this and call them over powered because they're new and in every game right now, but in my experience they're not too crazy. They have an obvious win condition with the Ripsnarl Captain, Seabreaker Goliath, and Dread Admiral Eliza but this combo doesn't even have that much RNG - it's just good... besides that ever other pirate card feels like fair if not below average for the early / mid game.
Mechs - So I think Mechs could be stronger. They still have the best tier 3 card in Deflect-o-Bot but past that what is there? I actually had a ridiculous Junkbot build the other day, but that was so random and just needed so many cards compared to these other builds. I somewhat wonder if they could bring back Cobalt Guardian to go with Deflect-o-Bot, but that might be too powerful. Ultimate the weakness in Mech is that it requires too many cards to build a powerful Divine Shield + Refresh warband
Demons - This is the weakest tribe by far. I think it can be solved with a simple change... tier 5 minion "Whenever a friendly demon dies, give your minions +1/+1" (maybe even +2/+2) I think this could put demons right there with the other tribes and make them viable again. The only real demon I ever see is a Annihilan Battlemaster or an Imp Mama but it seems like they're usually one of the only demons in the build. Sure you can occasionally get a fun Wrath Weaver or Soul Juggler build but it's not any where near as easy (or powerful) as the others
Soul Juggler leads me to the problem card though! Arcane Cannon it's a bit of a love hate with this guy, but more hate... I like the way it makes you think about order, but I feel like there is too much RNG for this card and ultimately too many fights are won / lost on when the Cannon dies. I think moving this to Tier 3 with Soul Juggler would be better and then maybe even making it a 3/3 would be fine... but yeah Tier 2 makes this guy way too common, good, and annoying
TLDR; Pirates, Beasts, Dragons, and Murlocs all feel really balanced at top tier, Mechs and Demons could actually use some buffs, and the only card I'd nerf is Arcane Cannon
I think Hooktusk is absolutely going to be nerfed.
I think Demons could use a little love. I think it's almost impossible to have a winning Demon comp, although you can T4 with it pretty easily. Maybe that's just its intended niche?
Hook tusk is absolutely ridiculous. Easily the best hero atm. You can viably play her tier 1 as long as beast isn’t excluded, and she’ll take the entire lobby if both beast and demon are present.
She gets to fully “reroll” her turn 1 if she doesn’t hit token, and LOL if she does.
Or, just play her “regular” and tier up. Hit triples all day long. Complete your build faster than most. It doesn’t matter.
Other than her, I agree with most of your points here. Demons 100% need help. I have no idea why they have virtually nothing on tier 4 to push them other than watcher, which is really more of a wrathweaver build than a pure demon build.
I also agree with the Pirates thing. They’re not the worst but no where near as good as beasts.
McCaw and hooktusk are definitely getting nerfed though.
Mech are too weak. They never reach a power level that outclasses any other build at any point in the game. They definitely need some better tier 5 cards. The 1/5 is a joke. Tier 6 is also kinda weak, since a Foereaper's 6/8 is way too small at that point. Other comps have strategy-defining cards there or crucial pieces, whereas Foereaper is kind of "meh" to "ok" at best.
The biggest issue I have at the moment is that Pirates are too snowbally too early and fall off too hard later. They need to shift some power level from early to late game. You can die insanely fast now because you get hit for ~20~ damage way too early since everything survives from a snowbally pirate board and that happens waay to early. There is not much strategy involved if you never get to the strategy part of the game.
That issue also only makes demons worse, since you receive too much damage anyway and it takes too long to build a big demon comp. Juggler builds are only to carry you through mid game if you can't translate into a different end-game strategy you'll settle for 4 or so. If you try to get it, you also get punished very early since a 1/1 will die to every other tier 1 minion. You also get damage from Humonculus... Demons need to be redesigned. Make Wrath Weaver a 3/3 with the same effect on tier 2.
The card that sells for three gold is genius and great design. The meta, though, is far too fast. Having you be down to the top two before anyone is at TT6? That's fast. And just happened. Also, yeah, cannon needs something. 1 damage would kill it, Maybe have it be to the leftmost or rightmost minion so you can counter it before Zapp?
A pure mech build was never so strong even before the latest patch. The best you could do with mechs is transition to a divine shield build but with the Mackerel gone this is now much weaker...
It seems Cap'n Hoggarr in late game will make pirate OP. You can earn gold from buying and selling any pirates. Probably a nerf target.
Needing four of the same TT5 is not nerf-worthy, I feel. Two or three have the same effect as each other of free cycling of pirates, gain gold from the sellf for 3 one. But because you're refreshing the tavern, it's not infinite unless you see the 3 gold sale one every other refresh, which you don't )at least in my experience).
Macaw easily made this patch not so fun too quickly. It should be t4 unit. It is too easy to find it and too easy to use. It is a key support cards. Other key support cards can be fould only on t4-t5, who thought it is a good idea to make it a t2 unit is beyond me...

Mechs suck and pirates are super too powerful. Fun, though.
I've only just returned to my favourite mode (BG) after a short hiatus from the game. I have noticed there seem to be a few seemingly OP cards / synergies just now, but will have to play a few more games to be convinced.
I did find that Murloc builds are still seemingly the easiest way to 1st place wins (myself), with the last 3 games just winning with those - though there were a few scary builds that came up and probably would have been stronger if the game wasn't as fast as it is at the moment.
I was hot and heavy on BG when it first launched and exclusively played that over constructed for about 2+ months after release. I started to fall off in the coming months because it just became harder and harder to find a slot of time large enough to fit in the games. Eventually I just stopped playing all together because there were too many changes being made and I couldn't keep up (this isn't a complaint as I think the frequent changes are amazing for a game like this but my lifestyle and schedule are a conflict).
I read about this patch and decided to give it another try this weekend and by my second game I said, "oh...so this cannon and parrot pretty much win you the game now...that seems broken".
Personally it's my least favorite patch since Demons were tier S.
I love variety, I love trying out different builds, and I don't like metas where there is one dominant comp and everything else is playing for second place. Right now the meta is slow enough where even an average at best player like myself can get a strong murloc comp pretty much every single lobby without too much pressure. I will say this is the easiest meta to rank up that I've ever seen and I've been steadily climbing towards 7k when I don't think I'm that skilled of a player, but it's boring as sin to just try to do the exact same thing every game.
I honestly think pirates are fine at the moment. It's a big hit or miss, you either get your spike or you just get stomped on by missing your core units.
Meanwhile I see 4-5 murloc players every game and it's just starting to get boring and frustrating. Doesn't matter how big you minions are, murlocs will either be too big or just have poison while having 40 hp (so you can't ping them of with juggler or whelp). I think if blizzard nerfs or removes murlocs (or make poison more exclusive like our now kinda worse than any murloc 6 drop spider) the game would be so much more fun and easier to balance for them.
And most build just don't have enough freedom imo, mech has too many bad cards and demon has too little late game (I mean, imp mama is the only 6 drop and it doesn't even do that much compared to most since she's hard to buff at that point in the game)
And then you have heroes like brann that are just a clownfest for balance, he either goes murlocs, and if there are no murlocs, he'll have 4 golden pogo's going from 200 hp to 60 hp lategame while being tavern tier 2 all game. I just don't think these kind of always top 4 strats should exist.
But this is just my opinion, I'm just a casual BG player, but I see SO MANY people complain about murlocs, it's like blizzard just doesn't give a shit. (I get that it's beta tho, but it's been beta for over a year now, they can't keep hiding behind that excuse)
Mechs are unplayable, Demons and Beasts are playable, but honestly visibly weaker than two top tribes. Dragons are playable, but it's a potential for either a huge win or a huge miss.
Overall I feel it's the worst state of the game since the very beginning - one tribe is rendered obsolete, 3 others are too weak to compete for the first spot. Go Murlocs or go Pirates or accept that you won't win.
Where are the days, when you could have won with every tribe?
In my opinion it's way too fast now. Battlegrounds was never too flexible because, unlike some other autobattlers, you can't accumulate gold and plan ahead too much. Now it feels even worse in that regard, because on top of everything else, you have less time to adjust and games seems to be decided earlier than ever before (not in the sense of picking the winner, but of determining top 4 players). I've noticed that if you fail to get at least one good scaling minion (that can last to final build) before turn 6-7, you will likely be crushed (mid game build hits hard now and getting like 20 dmg on turn 8 from highrolling player is nothing unusual). You can do it either by lucky roll from Bob, either by lucky roll from golden minion (but that requires luck on top of luck...). if RNG gods won't bless you, then well, try another game...
Eudora needs a nerf. Why must there always be a god tier hero?
Cannon is still obnoxious. But outside of that, I'm really digging it right now. Murlocs are king, but I've had a really nice top four stretch lately with everything from mechs to demons to menagerie. I feel like there's a viable hero in every offer pool and early game options are as diverse as ever (whereas in previous patches you may have had just one or two heroes total who didn't buy on T1 and upgrade on T2).

Beasts - This is probably the strongest class IMO. They have some good early game if you get a Rat Pack + Scavenging Hyena but it's obviously the Monstrous Macaw, Goldrinn, the Great Wolf, and Baron Rivendare combo. and you really only need Macaw + Goldrinn in some cases.
Murlocs - Murlocs gonna Murloc... This will always be viable so long as there is Brann + Megasaur
Dragons - Dragons gonna Dragon... you get big bois with Razorgore, the Untamed or Kalecgos, Arcane Aspect and this is a viable build
Mechs - So I think Mechs could be stronger. They still have the best tier 3 card in Deflect-o-Bot but past that what is there?
