The presence of a Deathwing in a Battlegrounds game basically ruins the game. Every player will have rats and rats and Deathrattle. And often the Deathwing player has some truly idiotic name like "SmarterThanYou" or "DoMiNaToR" because apparently this hero appeals to dumpsters.
Instead of a peaceful board building game, you'll have close matches on 6 mana where you take 13 damage due to a rat being the last minion. Rinse repeat.
I don't enjoy the games with Deathwing in them and I found a "solution".
Concede! Let that game be missing a player and I'll find another game while that Deathwing gets to play a broken match with a missing guy.
Deathwing was oppressive before the nerf when it was +3. Now it's challenging early game but by I find that by end game the buffs don't scale enough to keep up with minion scaling.
But yes people who choose Deathwing are definitely scum. Even worse? People who pick Deathwing off of the Sir Finley discover.
All I want is for Deathwing (and Rat Pack) to be removed, and for everyone who has ever selected him as a hero to be perma-banned. Is that so much to ask?
Deathwing is good only in the early to mid game. I hardly see Deathwing winning, because the hero, like some others, forces a certain playstyle. It is easy to get top 4 with Deathwing, not as easy to win.

Got to disagree here, Deathwing is still a great candidate for getting first if you know how to play him.
Not sure what ranking you’re playing at, but what you’re describing is a typical low-mid ranking pitfall. Deathwing doesn’t force any play style that hinders him from winning, and if the player recognizes that, he’s a prime candidate for winning also. His hero power makes it so that with the right picks in early and mid-game, you can power level with taking minimum damage. That’s when the play style changes for a good DW player. Scrap the token focus and aim for a viable end game strategy. You have a higher chance ofpulling it off than others, as you are likely to have hit the higher tiers sooner.
I thought this post was at least a month old, but nope. Deathwing was nerfed, and it is only good in the early game, also people in the lobby can easily play against him by picking rat for example. I’m yet to witness a single game where he is a clear favorite in the late game.

I play at 6k-7k. The problem with Deathwing is that you are almost forced to search for Rat Pack in early game and it can carry you till like Tier 4. The problem is after this you either go for full out Beasts/Tokens or you don't have benefit from your Hero Power at all. Deathwing most certainly does force a playstyle - tokens. You can of course go for another one, but then what's good in your HP? In the late game 2 attack boost hardly matters, unless you have something to benefit from it. Much more important stat in BG is Defense.
Sure you can go for Demons or Dragons with Deathwing and win. I won a game with Ysera using Demons or with Jaraxxus using Beasts. But it was due to the fact my boards were good, I had no benefit from my HP at all. And same goes for Deathwing if you choose a non-token strategy.
EDIT: I didn't say switching strategy hinders it. I merely say that if you abandon your playstyle for the other late game strategy, you are less likely to get anything relevant from your HP, while for other heros impact of their hero power can be crucial in the late game.

Well this is exactly the point! You need to abstract from the hero power and play as if you had none after the mid game. Some heroes have HP that are only viable in late game, some, like DW, only viable in the early game, and that’s fine. By getting to tier 5 before others, you increase your chances of picking up key minions that you rebuild your board and end-game strategy around. Because you are absolutely right, if you try to stick to tokes or tunnel vision to beasts, you are not likely to take first place.
It is a common mistake to try and force play styles due to Hero Power. Use it to reach end game faster than others, then build an end game board independent of the hero power

Deathwing is one of mine main picks. If I see Deathwing, I pick Deathwing. My fav tribes are beasts and murlocs. Deathwing allows me to get the rat and rush upgrade to tier 6 while still having a competitive board during the rush. Love it!
Before nerf I agree. Post nerf I do not, love the dynamic a Deathwing in your lobby brings, as all too often Battlegrounds are samey. Deathwing is one the few to change it up for everyone, and now he doesn't feel too OP.
Um are we talking about the same post-nerf DW lol?
When I pick DW I always fail to roll rat and everyone else does meaning gg in the mid game. The problem isnt rat pack, the problem is identical tokens should only count for 1 total damage.
I just adjust my play style early game and then go for whatever normal build late game. I'll add the 2/1 divine shield giver early game because once you get 2 minions it basically counts as 2 against deathwing, favor the 1/1 deathrattle beast and the 2/3 deathrattle mech. I actually appriciate deathwing because it adds complexity to the game, I don't actually want each game to be consistently like the last.
I'd actually prefer more disrupters like deathwing. Please bring on Deathwing 2.0 and 3.0.
I also like the fact that Deathwing is in the game. It forces you to think about your matchup and to make the right choices in the recruitment phase. And he is not even that hard to counter: you can find rats and token yourself, which are good early game anyway. If the other players play around DW, this means the probability of him getting the stuff he needs is lower, which means his hero power can actually backfire.
It sure sucks when they do get the rat early game, but it's not like there are no counter plays.

But what if you don't find Rat Pack? It makes the round even more high-rolly and just adds another strong element of RNG that the format doesn't need. If you have the misfortune of running into him at the wrong time and you didn't find the Rat Pack, there's a high likelihood that you're gonna take 8-10 damage. There aren't any other cards that counter it that early in the game.
I like things that change the meta of a round. But not when it's so singularly focused on one specific card during those crucial early turns.
What? I don't even think DW is that good anymore. Rafaam is by far the most bullshit hero right now. Top 4'ing with Rafaam is almost a guarantee. DW is only good early with Rat Pack and other token generating minions. In the late game, he's just not that rough.
I understand that when you get bad luck, and you get hit for 8-10 on turn 3 because you had a 50/50 at the end of the fight and you hit the rat instead of the other minion, it totally sucks. However, you have 7 other players who are also looking for the same card. I currently play at around 7,5k MMR, and I rarely see DW finish in the top four. He is a powerful hero, but when you have the others that know how to play around his hero power, he doesn't have enough steam to power through in the late game.
And if you ask me, I almost always buy Rat Pack at 5-6 coins, whether DW is in the game or not, just because it's a solid card and it scales well into the midgame.

Deathwing is a good hero but he is so easy to metagame. If you are an "anti-deathwing deck" you can nearly guarantee a top 4 finish.

I mean, Deathwing is good, but he's not oppressive like he used to be. He's upper tier-2 now instead of being a solid tier 1 pre-nerf.
