I had my first game with Illidan and it worked pretty well, even though I had pretty shitty start. I had a Mech/Deathrattle build which I think is one of the better strategies with Illidan.
I don't think that he is a top tier Hero, but if you hit a Rivendare you can do pretty good with him.
I ended up being second. Picture shows my final comp.
Do you have other strategies or comps with Illidan? Feel free to share :)
He works really well with cleave. You don’t have to worry about your hydras or Reapers dying before they can attack, and if they kill a Red Whelp it doesn’t get to activate.
Yeah I think cleave is pretty good aswell. I was offered a Hydra but thought it was to late for it to get it buffed enough - otherwise I would have picked her.
I think he'll end up being in the middle, around where Toki, Elise, etc. are tiered.
He offers no early game benefits like Yogg or Millhouse, so the early game can still be tough. But his ability to dictate much of the combat in the end game is certainly powerful.
He will be top tier for a while, at least in standard. Time will tell I suppose. This game has been historically hard to predict. Some cards which seem amazing turned out to be trash, while some cards that look terrible end up being meta defining
I’ve been playing Blizzard games for nearly half my life, and if I’ve learned anything it’s that when they introduce a new hero / class / way to play, it’s usually designed to be overpowered or powerful enough to compete with the best stuff currently. It’s very likely the Demon Hunter will eviscerate most of matchups and have some of its cards tuned down later. If they want to get a lot of players back the Demon Hunter has to be super fun, which usually means super powerful too. Blizzard wants people to keep playing their game.

HOW DID YOU PLAY ILLIDAN?
I was talking about Battlegrounds, not constructed.
