that Battlegrounds is going to cost $20 after the next expansion.
I personally am happy that they are going to monetize Battlegrounds because that means they will continually work on Battlegrounds and evolve it further.
They say that instead of $20, you can use 2000 gold. I myself basically quit playing Ranked in Standard after Battlegrounds came out, so I don't have any good reason to buy packs so should have that amount of gold accumulated.
It's controversial for sure, but I really don't mind it personally. I understand why alot of people do, but it ultimately makes sense to me that they monetize it properly if they want to keep it running long-term.
Hopefully there will be ranked reward. I've finally managed to climb back to the 7000's and would enjoy some kind of rewards at the end of the month for it.
You're happy that they are taking away quality of life features just to sell them back to you? And you don't mind that they're going to do it EVERY expansion cycle?
I liked it more last expansion where you just had to buy packs.
It seems a bit dumb they're saying: 'With the introduction of the Tavern Pass ... players will no longer have to purchase card packs in order to unlock Battlegrounds Perks.' as if this is a good change for the players, but it really is not.
You need to pay pretty much the same amount of gold/money to get the Battlegrounds perks now as last expansion, but before you at least also got a lot of packs. Now you don't get anything aside from the perks, so this change is definitely for the worse.

I mean it sucks as a F2P to spend 25 worth of packs when I save around 5K gold for each expansion, but I still consider Battlegrounds to be a side mode and while I wish I could get the 4 heroes and stats, I will keep playing it, just enjoying it a bit less since being offered 2 heroes is kinda lame.
However, giving up 25 packs for extra 2 heroes and stats is not worth it to me, also I don't play arena so I'm gonna say the 4 arena passes are worth around 2 packs.
I'm not really a fan of the direction. I understand that Bliz wants to monetize this a bit more, that's fine. Well, as fine as anything under Caplitalism, I guess. But overall, I feel like the cost is perhaps a bit steep, and the non-BGs rewards a bit weak.
Costs: I like that the old way allowed someone to build up rewards incrementally, and not just in one go. Someone could buy half the packs needed, earn more gold, and buy the other half. With the way they moved to four choices being shown for your hero, it'd be really easy to have a midway point at 3 heroes shown, for part of the purchase. Taking advantage of that would allow someone to make a smaller initial purchase, same way that packs can be bought by the 7 or the 60.
Rewards: Four Arena runs is a pretty slim benefit, but the old system was that you wound up with 20 packs. That's a really big difference, since Arena won't be a reward for a lot of folks, but a chore. Splitting the benefit up between some Arena runs and some latest-expansion packs wouldn't be bad. I'm willing to "overpay" for some HS packs for BGs perks, but I'd appreciate getting more for the purchase. The adventures last year struck a good balance, I think, in providing enough packs and cards as a reward to justify the price.
What I'd have been more comfortable with:
Two layers of Tavern Pass. Buy one or two, buying both at once has a discount, say $12.50 USD each, or $20 for the pair, or 1500/2500 gold. The contents would be 3 packs and 3 arena runs, and one extra hero to choose at start of game for each Pass purchased (so 2 heroes without, 3 heroes with one Tavern Pass, 4 heroes with two Tavern Passes). That's not a huge difference, but it'd be easier to have a smaller buy-in for half-benefit, and the non-BGs rewards are a little bit better.
//
Side point: BG wins should provide a bit more gold. Maybe that's more credit towards the "3 wins = 10 gold" ticker, maybe that's better quest interaction so that it's easier to claim quest gold from BGs. Doesn't need to be a tonne, but it'd be nice if it were a little better.

I think that the arena tickets should be around 5 packs at least (even if you retire the runs as soon as you drafted your deck)

After doing my research I found out that the pink 'stuff' that appeared onto hearthstone cards must, in fact, have been coronavirus. It has through hearthstone spread across the globe and infected all computers. And because too few people played hearthstone with plastic gloves on they got infected through their computer. Thus coronavirus is Hearthstone's fault and I expect a total of 3 packs from each expansion to be given to all coronavirus victims.

Do you think they work for free? Jezzz...
Yeah man I love when other games remove features and hold them hostage for $20 three times a year.
As a sidenote, it won't bother me that Battlegrounds players may be falling for this shit. I knew you had to be clinically braindead to prefer auto-battler modes, but I was still surprised to see someone welcome a change that actively makes the game more expensive without adding any new content.
If they change it so you can earn a decent amount of gold through BGs then it's fine. If they keep it how it is now then ... nah. I think I'll be done for good (it's an incredibly flawed, though addictive, game mode).

You aren't being forced its a pass. It gives rewards. it only makes sense.

Do we need to pay 2000 gold for battlegrounds or just buy 20 packs from that expansion, like it was with DoD?
Hopefully there will be ranked reward. I've finally managed to climb back to the 7000's and would enjoy some kind of rewards at the end of the month for it.
why they are making it pay to win or solely with money tho there are many other ways to monetize it without ruining bg for everyone

2500gold for 2y perks
It's still free, but with two hero picks and less stats. No biggie.

If they offer blitz BG I would go for the pass, but playing a 30-40 minute game is a big turn off for me from this mode.
2500 gold. Fucking Christ.
2500 for 2 years time frame is fine if you play BG regularly.
I just can't see myself playing this mode for more than an hour per month due to it's extremely slow pace.
