Imagine thinking that rolling is skill in bgs it’s RnG the mode is RnG your choice is where you put things is not cause you have control of it every thing else is RnG a streamer can tell me until there blue in the face that is skill and I just shrug and wonder what crack they are smoking.

Another thing to consider that's worked for me is getting better at reading the lobby. Sometimes depending on my comp I just stay at the 3 to 4 level and it's often good. Sure there may be that 1 lucky person that lucked into an early bran or baron, so I have a chance to come in second or third instead of 1st (though I still come in 1st sometimes. )
Also seconded on Deryl, I don't even think so "pros" play him that well. He is by far my most winingest hero.
That is such an underrated and not often discussed skill. You're playing the room, not just building a comp and fighting RNG. The most obvious example is deathwing, where an Anti-deathwing comp can usually get you, at least, into the top 4. But things like picking up on who has murlocs and when can be relevant for keeping an eye out for unstable ghoul. if it's an aggro room or an economy room. Etc.
This isn't to say that BG is without balance issues ATM. Kalecgos basically turns any aggro hero into an economy hero, giving them the best of both worlds. But that can be fixed.
Unrelated, I fucking suck with Deryl. He's like an auto Top-4 for me, but I never make the transition to an endgame comp well.

Ditto. And I have the same issue with Deathwing. I mean, you could pilot him blindfolded to top 4, but I just dunno what the hell to do with him once I get beyond the Rat Pack carry stage.
And to people who think there's no skill involved, I'd especially encourage them to try a Flurgl run on their own, then watch a 10k+ MMR player stream their late game Flurgl turns. It's like they're playing a different game.
I just think there are a couple minions that are too strong in the current state of the game and I'm talking specifically about Red Whelp and Razorgore, the Untamed. Whelp can win you every game of the early game, giving yo ua huge advantage, and there's no counterplay for this. Razorgore in the other hand is absurd if you manage to pull it on the mid game, all those stats are almst unbeatable, the only thing that beats a gigantic Razorgore is poisonous murlocs. Razorgore is somewhat balance as he's usually a late gae unit but Whelp is too easy to get a triple early and if you do then that card carries you all the way through the mid to late game.
Red Whelp runs out of steam pretty quickly. Unless I hit early Kalecgos, I'm moving on from Golden Whelp not long after Tier 4. 4 or 5 damage isn't often doing anything relevant in the mid-late game, unless you're lucky enough to pick off Soul Jugglers or Packleaders.

I rarely ever struggled against Whelp and I don't even like picking it.
You need to have at least 3 other dragons on board for it to be as effective as Kaboom Bot. So. Unless you play Ysera or maybe Rafaam or Millhouse, you are more likely to pick up a Kaboom Bot before you get your Whelp to be better, and the Whelp forces you into buying more dragons, which isn't really all that good or rewarding. Glyph Guardian and Steward of Time are just ok, and not really worth keeping. You are mostly looking for Bronze Warden if you want to stick with Dragons. And even then, there are not many dragon buffs available, making it difficult to keep up with other strategies. I have rarely ever seen someone succeeding with Dragons in the midgame.
Razorgore is kind of the same issue in the lategame: You need to have/keep 3 or 4 more dragons, which oftentimes isn't worth it, unless you get Kalecgos. Sure, a huge Razorgore is tough to beat, but to get Razorgore to huge stats takes time. It's not gonna happen often, and without support, he's too slow on his own.

yeah usually i don't get red whelp unless I'm rafaam... great for rafaam because rw can snipe better minions to steal

Cool. What's your MMR?
right? thinking that it's ALL rng basically short circuits your brain into not actually noticing the patterns and methods where you can make a difference. ie thinking it's just rng is a sure way to suck or not improve more

Don't see much of a problem with either of them.
yeah though rg is decent with around 2 dragons if you get him early. he can bring you into the too 4 and you imorove your comp in the mean time

Deathwing makes the early/mid game so easy that you can generally afford to tier up a lot faster than the rest of the competition. So ok, his power is not so relevant in the late game but you often get to reach it first which is a big bonus

My guess is that his is not good.

For sure, he's a strong early game unit. All things considered though, I'd probably still take a Tidecaller or Allycat.
Long term, I think Whelp is more bait than not.
