So I'm a 5k rated player, so am aware of my limitations, but I've never seen anything like it. I know some people luck out hard but this didn't feel that way at all. Picked new hero for lulz, +3 attack all round.
Sweet lord, I've never had a run this easy.
Turn 1, the 1/1 divine shield dude,
Turn 2, level up,
Turn 3, there's a rat pack and a hyena, (this is fortunate I know but rat pack is the problem card - hyena died very early on in most battles). I sell the divine shield, reluctantly, and buy both.
Then i fast teched with 2 minions, wiping the floor with everyone, my next 7 turns consisted of 5 level ups, and 2 purchases of rat pack and hyena. Never traded perfectly favourably.
Got to level 5 in short order, matched up a hyena for level 6 mama bear (agree is helpful) and then wiped the floor with anyone I faced.
tl;dr - rat pack and deathwing is massively strong, given how accessible the combo is from an early stage. I'm not the first person to find it, but not fun to play against.
I wonder if he'd still be good if he was only +2 attack to everyone instead of +3...
That feels like a really substantial breakpoint going from 3 attack to 4 attack. While there's a lot of 3-health stuff, it's also not too hard for a lot of things to get a +1 health buff, and there's enough 4-health stuff that players could choose to try instead. If Deathwing was only +2 attack, something like a Spawn of N'Zoth might allow an opponent to trade more favorably against otherwise 1/1 tokens. This also makes it so that Deathwing players care about attack buffs in the early game.
Would Rat Pack still be really good? To be sure, but a 4/2 who spawns four 3/1s is a lot more manageable than a 5/2 who spawns five 4/1s. That goes from 25 attack down to 16. Compared to the 4 attack of a plain Rat Pack, that's still amazing, but a lot more reasonable.
And I think a nerfed to +2 attack Deathwing would still be rather solid.
He's crazy, but every time I've seen a deathwing player in my game, I start picking things like rat pack myself. His hero power is a huge double edge effect.
One game I got 2 rat packs and spent next 4 turns only pressing tier up until I was 6. You pretty much can't lose early/early mid game unless enemy has a rat pack as well.
Other game I went mechs and wiped floor clean for 40 hp victory. Replicating menace is a menace when your tokens deal total of 12 dmg instead of 3. Additionally eggs can run into enemies without any buff.
I have this lingering feeling of Rat Pack being broken in general, especially as far as synergies go. But right now it's the only card carrying early beast builds so removing/replacing it with something else would be quite tricky as far as balancing goes.
I have a 7k rating. Mid game power high roll potential is out of hand right now...and this new hero is leading the way on that.
I hope we get a fairly quick patch...I'm already tired of taking 19ish damage when I have a great board by any standards on tier 4 or around that point.
I think he's really good, but also think his power level is a bit inflated right now because people are still trying to force dragons which are both really bad early/mid game and really bad against deathwing's hero power. Give it few more days when people get back to playing more normal builds, though I'm sure he'll still be a big power house when the dust settles.
Maybe something like "For each tier of deathwing tavern give +1 attack to ALL minions" starting with tier 1 as +0 (or +1, don't really know). It should slow deathwing, with retainning some value to late game.
This hero is insane power level. I dont understand how could they release such a passive, given recent nerfs. +1/1 MECH ONLY was wayyy to strong, now they give +3 too everything.
First of all, there are no limitations based on your rating, dude, that I can guarantee. One day RNG makes you godlike, next day it wipes the floor with you. Deathwing is alright in the early and mid game. In the late game all you need is good beast deck with buffs or you lose to everything. Played against him today, we were the only two left. He had a good board - strong hydra, golden summoning wolf, golden rat, 2 or golden mamas etc. Still lost to mechs
You gotta do some more BG coz u clearly dont undestand why heroes like Yogg, Sindragosa, Arch villan, Curator are super strong early game. DW'early is not strong - he is INSANE strong and it only escalets in mid game. I guess their balance idea was the fact the +3 atack is insignificant in late game UNLESS u have many tokens
No he’s not. He’s only winning all the fights if he manages to get a lot of tokens and deathrattles early (the thing many other players do). So without them he is above average. Now let’s see how many games out of 10 you get couple of rats/wolfs + hyena by turn 5. And then talk about INSANE power levels. Never but once saw a deathwing win a game.

Alright, let me tell you how u can improve ur's or ur friends winrate with DW. Turn 1 : pick any token, any 2/3 u pick always give u draw, 2/4 demon gives u win against everything, 1/1 divine shield always draws or wins etc. Turn 2: always upgrade, u win or draw with everything so u just search for strong cards. T3: go with ur guts, buy/refill. T4: crucial 6 mana for 2 strongest minions
Then its up to your skill and sure also luck. Any microbots, any imps, any divine shields have insane power lvl coz its hard to find dmg or poisonous in first 5-8 turns

GOOD LUCK :* ill post mine % if u want
Do you realize, it gives +3 attack to ALL minions, like to deathwing and his oponent as well. How could somebody take 2/4 demon as his first card, it is worst choice of all on tier 1.
Kripp is right - they need to take the star damage of tokens. Without that Deathwing would be not that powerful in the late game. I still think that he is too OP in early and mid game though. Every other player has to adapt to his strategy from early on, which is very annoying.
I just absolutely annihilated a storng deathwing build with a fairly basic demon ping build, so that seems like a good option if you are in the game vs one and don't get the opportunity to pick up your own rat packs.
Deathwing is the only hero that made me adapt my buy when I face him so I don't get destroyed. Like I can see myself buying Rat Pack and Replicating Menace even if I don't have synergy for it just for one fight.
I totally agree on the +2 attack change, it will be not an auto win anymore if you roll Rat Pack on tavern 2 now.
Also, Tirion is still top 1 hero, and everybody agree that he is just the best one and by far margin, if they nerf Deathwing they should nerf Tirion aswell with a 2 gold cost hero power.
The issue with Deathwing is that even though the effect is technically symmetrical, Deathwing is the only one that really benefits from it. He knows that he will always have that effect - thus, he's basically playing a whole different game with different rules from everyone else. Meanwhile, you only face him 1/7 of the time, which means that you aren't incentivized to play around his ability. If you do choose to purposely buy things like rat pack for his ability, you get screwed by every other player.
Deathwing also negates scaling - meaning that he forces other people not to scale well into the late game. He effectively ignores attack scaling because he buys units with low hp that are going to get killed regardless of attack. He limits hp scaling because his passive combined with token summoning amplifies damage, making it almost as if all hp stats are cut in half.
So he has a ridiculous early game, is impossible to play around, and can't even get outscaled. Hoping he's nerfed soon.

Piloted Shredder, Knife Juggler, Mad Scientist, Dr. Boom
Need to be removed from this game

Yes, DW is sick. Just got 1st place with 40 HP remaining.

I don't think so, it would make tech even more powerful with deathwing. You're T4 really quickly, and at that point deathwing is equal in strength

Cobalt mech builds farm death wing late game. His tokens just aren’t big enough,
