It's less that mechs have been nerfed so much as other strategies have been buffed. The increase of Junkbot from 4 star to 5 star was a pretty big hit but that isn't the only contributing factor. Murlocs got major buffs around the same time mechs were nerfed. Primalfin Lookout and Coldlight Seer were both lowered a tier, allowing them to not only be purchased earlier but having more of them available overall.
Of course when murlocs became more powerful, menagerie also by extension became slightly more viable as well, edging mechs out of their comfortable top spot to where things were slightly more balanced and competitive. However, with the even more recent updates and the introduction of King Bagurgle, I think murlocs have now become the uncontested best strategy currently in the game. I think Blizzard took things 1 step too far in bringing up murloc power.
So, Junkbot being nerfed to 5 star definitely played a small role but ultimately it's the buffing of the other archetypes that's made mechs less competitive as a whole. That's just my 2 cents.
Nope, people are just getting more smarter about including silence in their decks.
Pretty sure the topic creator means in Battlegrounds, not constructed.
Pretty sure this is a Hearthstone forum.
Okay? I'm not sure what your point is.
Guy was asking if mechs got nerfed in Battlegrounds, the Hearthstone game mode, you responded with a comment about Silence, which doesn't exist in Battlegrounds.

My point is, that I am unable to muster up enough force of will to stomach this line of reasoning any further.

Cool, you're really strange. Anyway, have a good day!
The problem isn't silence. I don't think most people are including a silence card in their decks (except Priest.)
The problem is discover cards and Zephrys. I've tried Mech Paladin vs. Druid and they always get to discover the silence minion. And that bloody Zephyrs has ruined the game. It obliterates class identity and permits nonsense comeback moves so there's really little to no downside to not including specific tech cards in your deck.
Murlocs are by far the best because it is simple to make all of them poisonous or to give them divine shield. They are all also mostly battlecry abilities, so brann in murlocs makes it out of control fast.
The menagerie strat has always been ok, but it’s the amalgams that really tip the scales. Dual or triple having two or even three amalgams with any tribe early in the game can get you top four, while not being able to find them is a loss.
So yes you are right, the junkbot nerf made the mechs far less competitive, while murloc buffs surged. However, you can still win with mechs if you have 2 or 3 amalgams on the board and endlessly buff them with poison and divine shield.
Amalgam is healthy and a disease for Battlegrounds at the same time. As long as it's around murloc or menagerie comps will always prevail. But it's necessary for other tribes, especially demons and beasts to have access to divine shield + poisonous as well. It doesn't matter if your massive Annihilan Battlemaster sits on the board with 250+ health as long as your opponent has multiple poisonous minions on his side.
In regards to Murlocs, it just gets tiresome really fast. They went too far with the recent buffs so the mid game devolved into "who can stack their murlocs first?" and if they aren't available everyone switches to mechs (say hi to Cobalt Guardian + Replicating Menace). That's another problem I'd like to see adressed in a further update. For now, there is no counterplay to a bunch of tokens, especially when they also support a tier 3 minion which is presumably more powerful than any other minion at this level (even outperforms some of the tier 4 ones)
First 2-3 weeks I almost always got top-4 with mechs, with many wins as well, and it wasn't always thanks to junk bot.
Now, I'm struggling to reach even top-4. have they nerfed mechs somehow?
Murlocs are the new hot now.

They were needed with good reason but still strong. Second best tribe right now imo.
but they weren’t exactly nerfed into the Battleground :p
Missing lethal since June 2015.
Mechs are okay problem is the poison now. who ever have too much poison divine shield minion wins.
Also beasts are worst tribe right now.

Someone obviously needs to include silence in their deck....
Cool, you're really strange. Anyway, have a good day!
They just made Murlocs more powerful with early buffs and King Bagurgle

Hearthstone Game Modes > Battlegrounds. It's right there on the top. This aint about constructed
