has to be the timer. It's insane how much it ruins but also kinda benefits the game. The timer being there makes me nervous every turn but it's extremely swingy if it is enjoyable thrill or frustration.
In early game timer is ok / little too long. You can make max 2-3 plays, you don't usually think those too heavily. In mid game, where you have to be most flexible you might make 10+ moves easily, because you can fill board with crap that you bank for later plays, you might make Khadgar golden card plays because you actually have board space or some other things. 30 seconds is just not enough time for seeing the path for the play, deciding how to go for it and then executing the plan. In late game, sure, long timer is ok but lets be honest you have maximum 2 board space open late game, sometimes 1. This limits your play making a lot and makes decisions faster / easier to make, so sometimes 70+ seconds might just prolong the game time awfully lot.
There is also something funky with how the timer for turns actually works, it assume the timer starts the instant combat turn starts, so if you are unlucky and had long combat with deathrattles you might have 10+ seconds less time vs other players. For this reason I have to be ready the second the combat stops and I always check timer to know if I have time to think or if I have to just move instantly and wish I make the right plays.
The animations are part of this problem ofc but to me the most hassle in the game is the timer. It's like living/random referee of the game mode that I just have to deal with, not constant norm like the animations are.
especially on mobile where my game constantly freezes or crashes. very annoying to say the least. lost plenty of games just from falling behind bcuz of animations as well
I literally get only 20-30 seconds at all the stages of the battleground progression on mobile as well as laptop. Sometimes it makes me skip turns all together.
If you hate the timer don't become one of us mobile players. When you get 20 seconds to shop it is more than stressful it's impossible. Blizzard oddly was unconcerned about this even though the game should be targetting mobile players. Otherwise they would include a minimal animation option. Blizzard isnt known for fixing obvious problems quickly so rip us.
Um this is the most fun I have had in Hearthstone in years. Beats ranked and arena any day. Why even bother buying packs when you can just play BG all day. Nothing is more thrilling than being 1st place.
As you play the mode more you would be able to make your plays in your head 3 turns in advance, and therefore get faster at using the time allotted to you, and as you said the timer alludes part of the entrigue of the game and skill/apm testing. With that said I do agree some of the animations have to be tweaked especially for the tavern section.
Worst thing for me when there is 3 people left I fight and win against both of them but don't get free turn while they get twice free turn that sucks finally a bad attack order and I lose this happens a lot to me? Why I am the only one who doesn't get a free turn? if I get my free turn I will be able to pull another pogo but no just go against former first place who didn't even lose hp before facing against me and get the worst order of attack and lose.
I don't have much problem with timer tho I always know what I am looking for.
Need to fix the way pack leader interact with beast summoned... Take too long.
The main problem with the timer is animation times in general -- but I think poisonous is by far the worst.
They need to create abbreviated animations for this mode, even if they choose to leave them alone for the normal game.
Gotta agree on animations.
With poisonous I get the extra animation, but it has no effect when it's post-lethal. Lifesteal shouldn't trigger when life's already full, just flag cards like Auchenai Soulpriest.
Then BG's animations... the Golden is time consuming - create, cast, discover higher tier- 15 sec at best prior to making the 'discovery'.
Then again, I still suck at late game even though I had 8 t4s last 10. The twice I had 2nd I had no luck from Bob, while my opponents continued to pump their minions. Seems I'm learning, but no "basic" luck (with that kind of tier-1 minions).
In Demons "department" - there are those who get the pumping tier 1, have a golden one by third turn, and me who never saw a 3rd of it. How does this work? Is there a finite amount of those? (P.S. same for mech getting pumped each turn).
how exactly would you propose planning ahead(in regards to reducing timer and making more efficient plays in tavern) when the available cards are not only random but also in a shared pool and can be removed?

Hasn’t been to much of a problem me so far except for one time when it straight up skipped my turn...that was unfortunate to say the least.
The fact that the timer stars at the start of combat sucks, and makes it unequal. Ran out of time a few times, but not often.
Have you ever played any other autobattler? This one is unique in so many ways

It's still in beta, i believe the problems we have on phones, and android will be adjusted.
