So I have been playing Battlegrounds since the first day and i'm enjoying it soo much for some reason... At the moment of Writing i'm in the top 200.
The question I have is about the MMR system, when I started on my first 2 days I got like 100+ for 1st place. Now I only get around +20 for first place. Now I see that if you're a higher ranked player, you won't get that much more MMR. Now I watch a lot of different streamers and they are also in the top 50 or even better and they still get around +100 MMR. I couldn't find any answer on how the MMR works and I hoped you guys could help me out.
I'm just curious about you're experience with the MMR system of this game.
I guess (compared to other games that use the MMR system) that the MMR your earn is also based on the MMR of your opponents. Someone finishing the game rank 1 will earn points depending on his own MMR, but also on the opponents' MMR. Winning against noobs and winning against pro's should give a different amount of points.
The fact that the difference between you and some streamers (and others) is so big, tells us that the matchmaking system isn't that balanced? Maybe everyone can get matched with eachother?
I'm sure that's one of the reasons this is being called a "beta." They probably need a fair amount of usage data in order to balance the "gap tolerance" of MMR against queue times and whatnot.
In any single player's specific case, you'd need to record the exact ratings of all the players you see in every match, your own position at the end of each match, and the rating change for the match. You'd then need to compare that to other players' data to have any way of seeing if there's anything inconsistent going on.
Thanks for the Answers, I think that the more players are now playing, the MMR is getting way more slow.
I checked many of the streams and the wins and the people I play with. The weird thing is that hitting 5th place still grants MMR sometimes instead of losing. I guess I'll have to wait for a smart person the get more specific once the game is out of META and calculate the MMR.
For now i'm actually enjoying the more than I should.
I was enjoying the game a lot too, but, a couple of days ago, lost a substantial amount of points for a third place finish. Based on what people have speculated, maybe this was because first and second place in that game were fairly low-ranked. I got some pretty bad draws on the game, and some pretty poor luck during the auto-battling phase, so maybe having a decent rank hurt me because things going wrong caused me to lose to a couple of lower-ranked players. And I know it's beta and things are still being worked out, but 4th place and up were described as being wins, and losing points for fourth and third place is obviously not winning. Seems like things could be adjusted where you might get small gains for fourth and third in that type of situation, but it just doesn't seem to me that there should be six loosing positions and two winning positions if you have a decent overall rank. I mean, I know the game is designed so that differences in skill levels don't translate into a corresponding difference in winrate. Meaning it's not like chess where a really strong player beats a weak player every single time, and, of course, it's like that to hold on to more customers that it would if it wasn't like that, but this seems like too much of a compensation to me. Long story long, I haven't played it since. Regardless of the fact that I play well, I play to have fun and not have to worry about having to come in first place every time just to see some progress.

In Dota 2 Autochess it is the exact same thing. When u were for example Bishop 5 and you played with 7 Knights you lost points for finishing third. It's logical for me, because that's how it should work. You play against weaker players, you have more to lose. You play against stronger players, you gain more. They should implement a better matchmaking, so that always players from the same MMR play against each other. That way it would work as intended.
So firstly I know you made this post a month ago, however I have some questions.
1. How/Where can you tell your ranking. I have a number, but the better you play the higher it goes. So at what point is your ranking the best?
2. I have not experienced it myself as i get 20-40 points for 4th place and 130-200 points for first place. Have you figured out the ranking system yet? If not please lmk.
3. During a game I had an impossibly lucky run. One of my characters hit 168 health, and as the death night IF they managed to kill it it would respawn as a reborn with 162 or something. Is that a record, and if not is there a website to view hearthstone records.

3. no such page that I know of, but definitely not a record. I think I had a demon with around 270 health one time.
