I predict LOE will completely shake up the meta. The cards are detached from the meta; but, that doesn't mean the current meta is the "right" meta or more powerful.
The discover mechanic may not appear notable at first glance but is completely OP. Like how players from other card games knew Mad Scientist or Mysterious Challenger were powerful because they tutored out a card of your deck and played them for you, cards that draw other cards are usually very powerful especially when you can pick from 3 of them.
I have enough gold to buy this crap and I will do so because of card collection thing.. It is true though that this is the only adventure that you can skip easily
This is what I hate in Hearthstone. The only modes where we are able to use our collection are filled with Face Hunters and Secret Paladins because it's the most effective there. Plus, there is barely any training grounds for testing decks that might be good for competitions only.
What Hearthstone needs is a new game mode that is unable to be abused by aggro, or ladder needs to change.
But Blizzard seems to have made it a tradition to have there big games drop to there lowest point before trying to fix everything, much like SC2 and D3. So expect to see most streamers quit Hearthstone before we are getting the necessary fix.
Thats why the thread title says optional. Wow people get really defensive in order to justify their purchases man, i swear.
I replied to zamrai not to the opening post? The undertone there is that people are stupid for buying anything. I don't think buying this for fun is stupid. It would be stupid if you do it for the wrong reasons (because you think you'd be OP or whatever). I don't see how I contradict anything you said in the opening post.
Oh my apologies. Your response is similar to a guy in another thread who got offended when i implied this expansion was optional. So i responded on instinct.
Id venture to say non of these cards are good enough to make a new deck type over. None of new 2 drops beat Knife Juggler, None of the new 4 drops beat piloted Shredder... Someone them dont even trade with it since they only get 2 attack. Face hunter only got stronger with this adventure making control decks even worse. Pally got another secret for christmas tree... i dont need to explain that.
Priest begs for 2 drop... It gets 1/2 body... Jeez nothx. rogue cards are strong but they dont generate a new archetype. Druid cards are cool but not better then current played druid cards. shaman got a nice 1 drop finaly... still 28 other bad shaman cards required. so guess what shaman still wont be played. shaman 4 drop doesnt trade with shredder and is too slow. Wont see play. Warlock 2 drop might see play? rest of the warlock cards added suck. warrior cards... HAHA bolster. the only legendary the might see play is sir finley.... he atleast 1/3 body... decent stats for 1 drop. Brann might see play also his stats are okish. Rest are just plain bad or too slow. the rest of neutrals are too situational or plain bad.
That would not be a problem if a card can't beat Knife Juggler or Piloted Shroud. On the contrary, it would be problematic if they do. If you keep pushing the bar higher and higher, a lot of old cards just get to be even more trash. That would be plainly worse.
And many cards can enter constructed games imo. Warrior's 3/4 Taunt is an interesting card, maybe it can be included into a CW deck in place of a Bash. The 3/4 and 5/4 Rogue minions are not bad, I appreciate the effort Blizzard made to push a minion-Rogue archetype. Brann in a Mill Rogue deck might be insane. And Elisa might be played in a Fatigue/Control Warrior deck to help against mirror matchups. And Entomb is a very good tool for Dragon Priests.
i think this adventure will open a more wide meta and deckbuilding options, since lot of cards have their own mechanics like earie statue seems ok but in druid where it could be played t1(with coin) a 7/7 mostly will hit you face twice vs almost all clases, tomb pillager seems clunky at first but mixed with cupturse and galliwix you get a good amount of psycological value (they have to choice if leaving in field or trading spells/board in responcses) that kinds of plays make a bait to waste a spell in a lesser threat leaving windows your big minions/spells gadgetzan back? also mill rouge is finally a thing with bronzebread he could easy sneak bronze+ conceal then next turn coldight oralce+ shadowstep to doom or 16 heal for antique healbot or the ultimate responces to handlock bronzebread+ BGH at 6 mana if you are rouge at 7 mana and shadowstepthis means 4 +7 attack creatures there are a lot of new interactions discover means midrange decks have some kind of value mechanic like in MTG cantrips does little efects with draws to have reach in mid game where they shine and need fuel to fight vs control im really happy with this adventure. :D
While some of the cards do not have any real constructed applications, the arena is a different story. Essentially you get a creature on the table, get presented with three different cards and draw one of them. That is not a bad deal.
We have so many high legend players and great deck builders here on hearthpwn and I am pretty sure none of them have judged the cards already to this degree. However everyone else that only reaches about rank 10 and maybe gets close to rank 5 and had never built a semi decent on his own is already judging the cards without playing them.
You cant analyse cards just because pros havent judge them yet? And yet you are implying people who cant make decks(think) on their own are bad. Quite the contradiction here.
This can be a reason to buy LoE for competitive players

That's where you and I disagree. Your Tomb Spider or your Gorillabot A-3 rams into a Piloted Shredder. You did NOT lose! These cards had a battlecry that gave you an extra card.
Now Shredder has the tempo advantage in that it played the 2-drop for you; but, that 2-drop is completely random and the discover cards you got to pick among 3. So it isn't clear who comes out on top.
Also, Mounted Raptor is a 3-drop Druid solution to Shredder, especially considering that many 1-drops happen to be 2/1s.

No I am just implying that it's stupid to judge the new cards to this degree especially when people should know better what their limits are. It's ok to say you think they they may not influence the meta to any great degree, but just saying the cards are unimportant and there is no need to get them if you are competitive player is just ignorant especially when everyone should know the limit of their skill.
I dont get you, the post simply implies the possibility of the expansion being optional. Are people not allowed to speculate and make opinions unless they are top ten legend or something? You have a very low opinion of yourself if you cant even form your own speculations.

The problem with that theory is not you are fighting to get board advantage... for entire rest of the game. some of them wont go more 2-3 more turns and you are dead cause you played minion that drew you cards that you will never get to play.

I agree that you will be at a tempo disadvantage; but, it's really difficult to judge discover cards atm because it's not a draw but a pick from 3. It could be tech card that wrecks your opponent's entire deck. For sure you will have an opportunity to play it at the very least because picking from 3 cards there will probably be 1 that fits your mana curve.
Also, the Shredder has potential to spawn something completely worthless. If it spawns a 2/3 or 3/2 or better, the Shredder probably comes out ahead but we all know that there are a lot of lower stat 2-drops in the game as well. Another point to make is that many classes have AoE so it could be better to draw a card sometimes rather than play it.
Finally, late game, the discover cards actually have a tempo advantage versus Piloted Shredder because your 2-drop only spawns upon deathrattle while you discover your card instantly.
These cards are a bunch of bullshit. It's like they needed to motivate non-aggro players to still queue, but to do so in a way that won't actually disrupt the aggro meta. The best part is they actually gave another secret to paladins instead of some sort of anti-secret tech to everyone else.

For neutrals, Gorillabot A-3 and Tomb Spider have potential and even Jeweled Scarab may appear in some decks. Among class cards, Museum Curator, Ethereal Conjurer, and Dark Peddler are powerful. For non-discover cards, Tunnel Trogg and Fierce Monkey will make waves.
Potential hit/miss cards are Brann Bronzebeard, Unearthed Raptor, Reno Jackson, Animated Armor, and Everyfin is Awesome. Either they will never see play or they could spawn entire deck archetypes that revolve around them, much like Mysterious Challenger.

Give a man a Murloc, and he'll eat for a day.
Give him a Murloc Knight, and people will hate him.

People are quick to judge.. but in general TGT was a bad expasio most cards didn't saw play even after the patron nerf.

I love that this adventure will bring new deck archetypes no matter how weak, as long as it's fun then I'm in.
