Launching consecutively over the next 3 weeks, future chapters will be available for purchase as a bundle containing all chapters for $19.99 USD, and individually for 700 Gold or $6.99 USD. Both The Dalaran Bank and the Violet Hold will be available on launch day!
Earn Up To 16 Packs
Earn 3 Rise of Shadows Packs by playing through each chapter, and a Golden Classic Pack when you conquer them all. Plus, earn two unique card backs for completing all chapters on Normal or Heroic Mode.
Meanwhile, 700g = 7 of any standard packs in the shop
Unless you think that golden pack is worth 1600g (400g * 4 paid wings), the only value in this adventure is the playable content itself. Of course, there's nothing wrong with spending money on things just for fun. This is a game, after all and if you think its worth it, I'm not going to judge you. However, even though I'm normally a huge advocate of evaluating fun in terms of money, I don't believe this event is a good trade. It's very easy these days to experience games second-hand from streamers and in this instance, that kind of experience is good enough for me. 1600g is a lot of gold
As for Zayle... well, he's not disenchantable. All 5 decks are either competitive archetypes with some sub optimal cards or almost-competitive decks that are good enough to beat up any memers. This makes him less "fun" than Whizbang yet less competitive than regular decks. The f2p aspect is already out the window since we're spending gold sub optimally to get him
I'm posting this because there's bound to be people who missread/didn't stop to do the quick mafs and get scamazed. I admit, I'm a bit peeved (Instead of buying RoS packs immediately on earning my gold, I decided to save up for this event in hopes to get more bang for my buck and ended up crafting several cards that I could have otherwise opened directly) but I'm obviously not going to complain since Blizzard is basically giving us 3 free packs through the first wing being free <3
How stupid do you have to be to compare packs to content with bonus packs?
I'm literally just calculating the raw value of the content by itself, which in this instance is 1600g. I also stated that I'm neither complaining nor mad about this. I just want to make sure people are informed on how much this content is costing them in relation to packs before they make their purchases. Nothing wrong with that
Would have been better if they gave no packs at all. It would keep people from doing these pointless comparisons.
Then people would complain that there is no incentive to play it. They gave 3 Rastakhan packs beforehand and everyone was complaining that there is no reward for completing Rumble Run.
You are right that based on pack value alone, it is not worth it. But, this is not surprising and has been known all along. The value is in the PvE content itself as you alluded to. You must be willing to pay gold or money for the fun of the content, and the packs somewhat offset the cost of that fun.
I realize there are trade offs, but I honestly miss the unique card rewards from the old adventures. Even if it was only 1 card per wing or something. I am F2P, and it was easy enough to save gold for those adventures.
As F2P, I will pay gold for the RoS PvE since I personally value the fun of it. I do wish it was released earlier since I am waiting to craft until I get those packs, but I understand they are trying to spread out the content releases to keep interest/engagement up over time.
This is like comparing seeing a movie at the theater vs staying home and watching TV. 20 bucks on 1.5-2 hours of entertainment with a soda and popcorn vs spending nothing and staying home watching TV.
Or 20 bucks for 15 packs, one golden classic pack, a meme legendary and a lot of fun with the solo content. Which is quite good. Like all adventures, much better buying it with cash than gold
WTF hearthpwn. READ MY OP. I literally say that most of the value in the adventure lies in the content, not packs and that it's completely fine if you decide that it's worth it. Then I literally say that not complaining, rather I'm grateful for the free packs and that this post is for your benefit so that all of you are making informed purchases if you choose to do so
Why am I getting attacked for this?? Do I need to restructure my post so that it's easier to read? Did Ben Brode get the firey war axe nerf right?

I guess it is the title of the thread that makes people think you are against the PvE content. I also only read half of your OP and thought you are telling people not to buy the adventure. The clarification in the last paragraph is easy to miss...

I'm not against the PvE content; I only want to ensure people read and evaluate before making decisions, which ironically is exactly what people are not doing in this very thread
Now I have newfound reverence for Ben Brode who in his infinite wisdom foresaw the fact that hearthstone players cannot read the bottom half of a card, much less a post. What a god
1 chapter = 700g = 3 RoS packs + .25 golden classic pack

Legend with : S65 Freeze Mage, S57 Maly Gonk Druid, S57 "Okay" Shaman, S53 Boom-zooka Hunter, S53 Maly Tog Druid, S52 Wild Tog Druid ft.Blingtron, S50 Quest Rogue, S49 Dead Man's Warrior, S41 Wild Clown Fiesta Druid, S41 Hadronox Jade Druid, S40 Wild OTK Dragon Druid, S35 SMOrc Shaman, S33 Jade Druid, S22 Control Priest, S19 Control Priest
The value for me is not the packs, but the pve content. I saved already 2000 gold and will use that to buy all wings that must be bought.

Is it confirmed that golden Zayle is NOT disenchantable?
In that case, i will take more time to decide. I am still tempted by the content (hard to resist the call of Dalaran).
As a veteran F2P, i could definitely use more gold/value, but i am in no dire need atm.
What this comes down to is this: Is the solo playing experience worth the gold or money to you or not.
And this question everyone has to answer for themselves.
That you'll get fewer packs compared to buying them directly from the store is obvious.
People underrate fun these days

I know I'll show my age here, but does anyone play games for FUN anymore???
Or do we need to get "value" and cosmetics and in-game items or gold to make a game (or in this case, a game mode) worth playing.
This might sound crazy, but I actually enjoying playing the PvE content just for the sake of playing it and having fun.
"When I was young" (I always wanted to use that saying) we would buy games and play them. That's it!
No DLC, no skins, no extra "perks". We payed for the game and played it because it was enjoyable.
Oh well, I guess I just don't understand kids today...LOL...
"There is no spoon"
Or 20 bucks for 15 packs, one golden classic pack, a meme legendary and a lot of fun with the solo content. Which is quite good. Like all adventures, much better buying it with cash than gold
I don't understand this comparison - I can buy 15 ros pack for 19,99€ and thats it.
And now i have adventure for 19,99€ that give me 15 ros pack, golden pack, legendary, card backs and of course pve content.
For me this is better deal.
I stop reading at "It's very easy these days to experience games second-hand from streamer"
1) add adventures with card rewards for 700 gold per wing.
2) remove adventures because not enough people pay for it.
3) bring back adventures, remove card rewards, still pay 700 gold per wing.
Blizzard is blizzard. No calculation needed, RoS adventure is way overpriced.
