Hello, i was wondering how to build my deck lineup. What to play and what to ban, etc.
The tournament i'm going is "Single Elimination - Best of 5 / Conquest Format. 4 decks, 1 ban."
I can make all top decks, except the following: Odd Paladin, Big Mage, Recruit Hunter.
I'm almost certain it will be full of Odd Paladins and Even Warlocks. If it is anythign like ladder, i'm thinking about using an Even Shaman variant. It has over 75% winrate for me. Or i could pick decks that are strong vs Paladin and ban Lock?
What would you guys suggest i pick and what to ban?
Even Shaman seems like a good move, after that the other decks in your lineup could be targeted either for the aggro deck you expect or for the control deck and then ban the other.
Also, Even Warlock and Odd Paladin are popular but don't underestimate the popularity/strength of things like Control Priest, Dead Man's Warrior, and Zoolock. They are the kinds of decks that see more tournament play and have the capability to take some games off of you, if you aren't familiar with the matchup
Not following tournaments so I wouldn't know what the meta is, but I'd suggest sticking to whats working for you, if you are familiar playing even shaman, then go for it. It's better to play a deck you've played lots and know in what matchups to mulligan what and so on.
Anyways, good luck! shall the luck of cards be with you!
I just entered my first tournament a couple months ago. It was just one week after the nerfs, so recruit hunter didn't "exist" yet.
I won the tournament with big spell mage, control priest, odd rogue (was just a best of 3 conquest). I expected a lot of odd paladin too, but I think there was only one in the tournament. There were a ton of taunt druids and big spell mages, and a decent number of even warlocks.
Most importantly, pick decks you are comfortable with. Even shaman is pretty strong, so that should be good. Be sure to tech in a Skulking Geist in, honestly, all of your decks haha. Killing Naturalize is very important in a tournament. Quest warrior is pretty strong if you know what you're up against. Zoolock is honestly good for tournament too because it can simply punish any bad draws from the opponent. I still think control priest is very good (in both ladder and tournament), although tricky to play at times.
Expect to see a lot of Shudderwocks too, those will be everywhere. You could bring an even warlock as well. I'd also recommend taunt druid, but the games can drag on and be a bit boring (in my opinion lol).
If I were to enter a tournament today with 4 decks, my lineup would be Shudderwock shaman, Recruit Hunter, Big Spell Mage, and Control Priest. I know you don't have two of those lol, but that's just what I would do.
