Hello everyone! I have just established myself as a Fireside Tavern innkeeper and the process couldn't be easier. There are a few joke guides I've found on other sites like /r/hearthstone, but I ran into some roadblocks that I didn't understand and those threads didn't help, so let me give you all my knowledge on the subject.
Requirements: Two mobile devices, 4 Blizzard accounts, a wireless router
Step 1: Register a Fireside Gathering with Blizzard at the official site. I was pretty much instantly approved, the only caveat is that the soonest you can register the event is 2 days minimum. It's also very easy to change times, location, any data you want to.
Step 2: The day before your Fireside Gathering (in my case it was the next day) your innkeeper account will be prompted to set-up the event, establishing access points in the local wireless router. I have no idea what this means, but you're not ready for game time yet! That's tomorrow.
Step 3: When it is time for your scheduled appointment, log into different accounts with both devices (probably one of them should be the innkeeper and that account shouldn't be logged out). Play the Fireside Gathering brawl against yourself. Once done, log out and log in another account. Repeat.
Step 4: Once the third account has begun to brawl, you're done! On the fireside gathering's page, there should be a prompt to establish a tavern. Have fun designing your banner!
Now that you're a tavern, you'll sadly have to repeat this silliness again in 2 days once you sign up for another gathering, but that one should be as simple as joining the brawl and participants get the Gnome skin. I will admit I haven't done this yet, but I can't see how it will fail.
Useful lessons I learned:
24 hours before your fireside gathering, Blizzard will prompt you to enter your FG if you're on the account that set it up. When this happened to me, I thought the FG was all set and I gleefully tried to get other accounts to access it but nothing worked. I think this is only to set-up the Wi-Fi router for the brawl (or let Blizzard know that this router is the authorized one to connect this particular FG to), so don't get discouraged and confused like I was.
Also, something that I noticed the day of my test FG was that my other accounts (on mobile) were able to detect the gathering before I even accessed my innkeeper account. I have absolutely no idea how Blizzard did that (spooky) but it's possible that when Blizzard prompted my innkeeper account yesterday to set up access points it was in anticipation of today's FG. It seems that you can access the FG a few hours before it was supposed to actually be held, but that's still cool!
You don't need to complete the brawls! I played all of mine to completion, but the moment I started brawl 3 with the third account, I refreshed the official fireside page and it said I was ready to establish my tavern. I think other users on here said you have to wait until turn 1 before conceding.
Your innkeeper account needs to be somewhat legit (it says 3 wins in play mode on the official page) but you can use freshly made accounts to count for the 3 check-ins. I used the account I made to give my account Morglr and it worked perfectly. I doubt this account has ever gotten a win in play mode. The other accounts I used were friends.
Despite the FG official page saying that players can bring laptops or god forbid a desktop PC, I don't think it works. My desktop, despite being connected to the wireless router vie an ethernet cable, could not find the gathering because it didn't have a GPS device. I don't have a laptop to try it out, but I think that wouldn't work, either, unless the GPS device isn't needed (when I used my mobile devices for the first time, they said location not found, but on subsequent log-ins I didn't get that message and just skipped it). So two mobile devices (including tablets) are your best bet.
As far as I can tell, the tavern isn't tied to a geographic location but to the innkeeper's account. If you seriously want to become a tavern and meet strangers, you could set up a Fireside Tavern meeting at your local library one week in one town and the next week you can hold the event in another town. You could become a local celebrity to HS players.
That's all for now. If I come back in 2 days without Nemsey I'll admit that I'm the dummy. Otherwise I'll update it with any new lessons that I learn and I hope this helps some prospective innkeepers out there to open their own taverns.
But as im sure youve read about, alot of us learned about the location spoofing and got our nemsy in jut the time it takes to set up noxplayer or fakegps etc on devices and log in to play at a tavern gathering.
Step 4: Once the third account has begun to brawl, you're done! On the fireside gathering's page, there should be a prompt to establish a tavern. Have fun designing your banner!
Anonspartan, can you change the name and insignia of your banner once you chose it?

Yup, right next to where it says Approved, edit everything about it.
