Been playing mid shaman but ive hit  a wall at rank 8 and have been playing games all day going back and forth a few stars. So annoying. Not sure if rank 8 and up are a different meta than what was in the dumpster. 

Does anyone have any suggestions to what Deck I should play and is doing decent ranking to 5? Once I get to 5 ill figure something else out to start climbing to legend

This variant of Totem Shaman is very good, and I would recommend for you to try it for a few games. Got me from rank 15-5 over a few hours (Not continuously) with only 3 losses.

n'zoth paladin, control warrior are also good

 Tempo Warrior

 It's a bit tricky at first, but if you can get a good grasp of how to play it I recommend Miracle Rogue.

To summarize the above comments, any strong deck - most probably including your shaman, - would do provided you pilot it well. 

For me the easy go to rank 5's are:

Patron warrior (aka tempo), freeze mage, miracle rogue, control warrior, control priest, midrange warrior.

You can also cheese your wins out for an even easier rank 5: aggro shaman, ''midrange/totem'' shaman (aka slightly less aggro shaman), zoolock

I use miracle rogue, dragon priest, and patron warrior(just started using dragon warrior too) to ladder with. All are strong and well worth using, my favorite of the bunch being dragon priest followed by miracle rogue.
