Am I right in thinking that the mini set gives me cards i can use in the standard game? 

A lot of what is for sale confuses me a little TBH, I never know if it's for some new game mode or for the actual game. 

Is this a good idea to buy if I have no cards from that expac, please? (assuming it is from an expac)

Those 2000 gold mini sets are the best value purchases you can get right now. They're a bunch of standard-legal cards that release halfway between main sets, and you know exactly what youll get-theres no randomness with it. Plus you can disenchant anything you dont want, so I strongly recommend saving for those

 So the one that you can buy regular or gold version of? I think they're all cards from the previous expac?

I know there's another bundle I can get that comes in 2 sizes, but they're packs i think. 

So does the set come with a proper set of cards that we know about before purchasing it? Where can I find the list of cards, please?

 Right now there's only 1 mini-set for sale, the one for Voyage tot he Sunken City. It looks like this in the shop:
