Yo, i just wanted to ask, if there are people playing this game mode?
I have like 70 people in my friendlist, of which not a lot are playing it. Does that sound familiar to you? Maybe I'm wrong and the game mode is awesome?!
I play daily. I'm f2p and acquired all mercenaries by daily login + task farming. i have most of the casters maxed. and most of my merc overall have maxed abilities but not equipment
I still play a good bit, and don't have issues with the matchmaking queue anymore (maybe 1 min max) so I think a good number of people are playing still
I play PvE occasionally, but as I'm back to all mercs crafted (F2P), I'll be away from it for a while. There's a push away from it with the honour event, plus two relatively longstanding bugs (Hunting party not proccing, plus the newer bounties not counting for some tasks to complete HC/N bounties) that irk me whenever I forget them. I'm in no rush to max the mercs, that's a grind with a very long endpoint.
I've played it a lot when it started but now that I maxed out my favorite characters there is basically no content, no progression, no rewards, no xp (barely), just nothing, and PVP sucks.
And if they just add 3 mercs and 3 bounties every 4 months it's not gonna help.
When I play all I can think of is how this is like Pokemon but without deep strategy or world to explore. And freaking cards instead of actual character models.

I never actually played Slay the Spire, but people kept talking about how this new mode was going to be "just like Slay the Spire" before launch, and so I looked it up and I was thinking... oh that's neat, I could get behind that.
So I was obviously disappointed with the art direction when it landed. I mean, how hard would it have been for them to make some 2D models and make them bounce up and down a little bit? At the very least, it would have made the game more fun to look at... but that's just me. >_>
A background for a tiny bit of immersion and you have an actually engaging mode, right?
I played it a lot when it was first released and really enjoyed it. After some time, I noticed that I wasn't playing for fun anymore but just to grind quests and bounties for more hero coins and packs. Luckily I quickly saw the game mode was a dead end and quit playing. Haven't touched it since.
so for everyone complaining that its "cards instead of character models", what exactly were you expecting?
It's an extra mode inside Hearthstone using Hearthstone's engine and assets.
It's a case of "hey, what more can we make THIS game do to make it seem like a new game", not "hey, let's make a new game".
anyway, to address the thread topic, I still play daily, but only to clear the task board and get 1,3 or 6 (depending on mood) pvp wins. I'd like to do more, but until they address the excess coins for maxed mercs issue, I have no reason to really play in-depth (or open my 17 packs lying around).
I stuck with it hoping for a better way to get tasks done, or I should say gain character levels. Grinding Heroic is not what I was looking for, so I quit a few weeks ago. Probably done with the mode now. I just don't get excited by it I guess, hard to find the fun in it.
It is an absolutely terrible release. Worse than duels if you can imagine that. The only people still playing it are masochists and those that spent so much on preorder they feel a need to will themselves to like it.
Right now it's a dead mode Blizzard killed the pvp so now u only can farm unrewarded and bored bounties. They add a change for get more legendaries coins but was a stealth nerf
I see it as an alpha with some potential. There is not enough replayability for me in PvE to enjoy it. Blizzard claimed it to be "roguelike-like" but it isn't random enough to be called that. And I just don't like how PvP plays.
I have hope that PvE content will become better with time.
mercenaries pvp is so fun, I won like 20 matches in a row and reached about 6k points and then I started being matched with people who maxed all their mercs, so I basically can't win shit anymore against +1/+5 builds

If you're playing with an underlevelled team, the matchmaking will try to pit you against other underlevelled teams, and if it can't find any after a minute or two, a bot. It'll do this up to a certain rating, after which, it'll match you against players of your own rating, regardless of the state of your team.
it's funny mode but too much grind and notthing special at all, hearthstone itslef is way more fun

I think the hype of it being the "new mode" wore off and a lot of people aren't interested anymore.
That said, I know there are still a number of people playing it, but I guess the numbers have dropped a lot.

I play daily and I'm enjoying a lot, especially PVP. I like it because involves less RNG than Battleground and even standart Hearthstone.
It's not about RNG. It's about math. Kappa.
less RNG, but a lot more rock-paper-scissors
If you look at the meta match-up table for standard, you'll see a lot of boxes containing numbers greater than 60% or lower than 40%.
That's a very rock-paper-scissors meta.
