I just reached Legend for the first time, and it was in Wild. Mostly, I am posting this for people who are in a similar situation, so they can know it is possible.
A little bit of back ground. I have been playing since GVG, and I am not a FTP. Usually get the preorders and random deals here and there. The thing that holds me back the most is time to play. With a full time job and 4 kids, finding time to play can be difficult. Because of this, all of my play time is on Mobile (Tablet and Phone) since I can squeeze in games anywhere.
Over the years, I have made a few pushes to Legend with variable success. The highest I had reached in the old system was Rank 4 (Dad Legend) and Platinum 3 in the new system. I often switched between Standard and Wild and tried for Gold in both.
What changed? My Legend run was sort of an accident. While working toward my 500 wins with Hunter, I found great success with Even Hunter. It was a perfect deck for me. Games were quick and did not take a lot of hard math or APM. Many people did not know how to play against it and I got a 10 and 12 game win streak. I finished the month at Diamond 2 (my highest rank ever). Life got in the way and I was not able to make the final push.
This month, I decided to really try. With 9 bonus stars, I was able to get back up to Diamond 5 within a few days. Sadly, Even Hunter was just not cutting it. After a few days not making any progress, I decided to switch decks. It took a while to find a good deck to finish the climb. What I ended on was Odd Paladin. Besides being a good deck, what helped me with Paladin was that I really knew the class and deck. I had messed around with Odd Paladin for years, and Paladin is by far my most played class. Deck knowledge really helped me pull out some hard wins.
TLDR:
Take away for busy people going for Legend.
Get to know a deck inside and out, so you can get your win rate up
Faster decks can be helpful
Get the games in
If there are any questions or if anyone wants deck lists, let me know. Thanks
Congrats to a fellow mobile player hitting legend. I hit legend with odd paladin for first time in wild a few months back. got my first time legend month before outland launched. I find the time to play mainly in the morning on the wc... Lucky to get 10 games a week
Long Post, TLDR at End
