less of course, but you can't recapture the excitement of having a decent digital card game, so not really a fair comparison. also not sure why you ask about 5 years, i was in beta in 2013 and release was 2014
played since beta as well. Enjoy the game less but I played alot less as well, because of life commitments. If I could play as much as I used to without worrying about real life issues I think I would enjoy it as much as I used to. Looking fwd to the upcoming changes though.

The game is much better now, you have so many options.
However, we don't have the excitement and hype like we had in the beginning, also the the move of famous streamers to BG is a big issue, many friends left the game
the tournament scene and ladder finish excitement no longer exists.
I enjoy Curvestone a little more than Combostone to be honest, game was very different back then, you couldn't rely as much on draw order and card synergy, and it was easier to play around things and have your skill matter.
Now it's a much more fun deck building tool with all the cool options and powerful cards, but the game kinda plays itself, aggro just dump hand without playing around stuff (cause they can't), draw their whole deck in 8 turns (cause they can) and hope for the best, control just dump removals, heals and boardswings every turn as they come because their deck is full of it.
However I think the game is in a much better state now for new players, despite the higher card count and average rarity.
I just think veteran players could enjoy Wild format a little more if there were randomly rotating sets every 6 months and more balance changes instead of a dumpster fire of all the existing and most powerful cards and synergies that have ever been created. It's fun while playing T1-T2 decks, but it's hell for the thousands of T3-T4 decks, they are virtually unplayable forever.
If you had asked this 1 or 2 years ago I would have said less, but Blizzard have worked hard on creating more ways to play and done a lot more to balance the game regularly and shift the Meta and not let it get stale for months on end. I feel it's a better game now and I enjoy it more.

The game is a lot more interesting, or at least stimulating now than back then. There's barely a turn these days where where you just put a card down and nothing else happens. The amount of games that are won by rng or discovered cards these days though does make losing feel a lot worse a lot of the time.
It's hard to believe too that ladder is still the only competitive mode available though. How they haven't created a viable method for implementing tournaments in some capacity when thy've launched BGs and Duels is crazy.
I play a lot less because most of the content creators of hearthstone don't play anymore. so I get less inclined to play ex: amaz, kripp (BG's not arena or constructed), forsen etc.
I enjoyed the game the most during beta, because every game is more fun when it's brand new.
After that, this version of it with two constructed modes i can play in and a better Arena is the best it's been since Naxx. On top of that i just love BGs.
The game itself is certainly better: more modes, new class, more frequent updates, the reward system rework has been improved, with more updates to come etc. Content-wise, this is the best HS has ever been.
The MARKETING, however, took a big nosedive into shit. Many big streamers have left standard ladder, the new competitive scene rules have been scaring professional players away and failed to engage the HS community, and the change from expansion + adventure + expansion to exp + exp + exp + miniset has made the game much less F2P friendly.
The game is better, but it looks WORSE. Kinda amusing how they managed to achieve this.
Genuine question, as I'm suprised by the people who say they play less because their favourite streamers don't play anymore, but why do people care so much what streamers play? Maybe it's a generation things but I don't understand the need to have your choices vindicated by somebody sat in their bedroom talking into a webcam. What do streamers bring to the game that you wouldn't have if they didn't exist?
Oh yeah! I loved playing a game where every other turn consisted of playing a useless vanilla minion that did nothing, and all games were effectively decided by who had the bigger board or who drew Leeroy Jenkins first. Much strategy, Very design!
There's a reason the game struggled and we in the early community were desperate for Naxx to finally come out after an eternity. It's funny (and depressing) to see people who didn't experience all that, clamour about how much they want to bring back that meta. Ugh!
The game is way better (in terms of game mechanics, options, playing, deck building) but the hype has long gone, its not exiting anymore as it used to be, the streamers scene declined so drastically this is sad.
Just a different way to live hearthstone. I love this game and fan creation are one of the biggest reason why this game exist for me. without community probably I'm not too addict

As a homebrew/meme player i enjoy the game a lot more now than back in the days. Since there are endless numbers of otks you can do in wild now.
Not playing EXACTLY from the beginning,, just November 2015.
97 % Wild, rest is Tavern Brawl, very occasionally Battlegrounds, slowly Solo Book of Heroes and no Duels after first few weeks.
I am enjoying the game the same. There are some highlights, like when I mill Shadowreaper Anduin, Raza the Chained or Discover and play Potion of Polymorph turn before my opponent plays Blood of G'huun, mill some secrets with Research Project and kill some secret mages.
BTW Tickatus is no problem IMO.

Way less because they are still forcing kids to dump out 80 dollars for expansions 3 times a year + many other expenses.
and there is no other answer.

Idk for me even though the different modes are nice, I feel all the modes themselves have gotten considerably worse over time.
Standard seems ok but not great. I cant tell if i like the new system for acquiring gold yet.
Arena is a joke compared to what it used to be. So much random nonsense compared to skill.
BGS i feel have been in a downward spiral ever since the Pirate patch.
I don't even mess with Duels because its basically a dungeon run and i hated dungeon runs.
Idk...just doesn't feel as good as it used to for some reason. Seems from the poll its about 50/50 for everyone. Interesting.
