I think it is a good mechanic because RNG is always fun. The chances of getting another Alex from your Alex is quite low, and it can create really silly comebacks :D Im still upset they nerfed that. It was often the players last hope to survive.
Getting double Kor'kron Elite for lethal in your Thief Rogue can be fun too, when you wouldnt be able to win otherwise in that turn.
Also back in the day there was a Priest combo with infinite Shadow Visions into Shadow Visions , which also had low odds to make it work, but was always fun in a silly was when it worked.

Fun and silly are about the furthest removed phrases from balance. Was it “fun or silly” for the opposing player who out played the player lucky enough to get alex into alex and would have otherwise lost the game?
I always imagine these types of people as ones who play something like alex, highroll to all hell into a second alex, then high rolling further into some dragon like nosari that just wins them an otherwise un-winnable game clapping their hands and giggling like a child.
Fun is arbitrary, and I assure you the opponent who out played the hell out of the alex player had far less fun losing to some 5% chance than the winning player had winning it.

I'm sorry, how is this related to Kor'Kron elite?
Also infinite shadow visions is till possible.
And a note, you may not have noticed but as of recently, discovering a class card is just as likely as discovering a neutral one, as opposed to being 4x more likely.
So now class cards (like emerald/bronze/azure/primordial explorers) are now indeed a lot less likely to discover themselves

I was upset that Alex was released. The cards ridiculous even post nerf. It shouldn't even be in Arena...

Card is busted for sure. Broken in arena. Thinking of her, I realise she still can find herself through getting dragons that discover dragons(atleast not 0 mana).
Maybe we should have those cards named "rng cards" and they can only add/discover non-rng cards.
Value you can sometimes get from those situations is bonkers. Sure, you can get really bad card or options, but I don't think that balances it.
New Alexa nerf would never happen if the mechanic was different.

I would like to see discover offer legendaries less often. And If it has to offer 3 legendaries to offer class legendaries less often.
