Nearly every "when this minion kills a minion it <whatever>" is when it attacks on its own turn. See examples like The Boogeymonster and Darius Crowley.
Why aren't there more cards that have bonuses like that even if your opponent attacks it on their turn? We've had a couple of cards like that in the Icecrown expansion, like the Skelemancer, but I would see more of it AND I would see cards that get the same bonus regardless whose turn it is.
I believe that cards like The Boogeymonster would be better if it also gained its stat increase on the opponent's turn, as it would force the opponent to spend their high-cost creatures to kill it instead of chipping it away with tiny minions.
Freeze is the only one that really comes to mind, but I don’t believe that is as directed as the effects your talking about. And the Armorsmith, howling fiend, arathi berserker, etc. Lifesteal is perhaps another example.
would be neat if there was a defensive version of ‘Overkill:’ like everytime a minion dies while attacking this, curse a playable card in your opponents hand.
