I love to play hearthstone, its my favourite game from a long time. Usually i do not complain about certain metas but god, playing against Warrior feels so bad. Its impossible to create some kind of board without it being cleared.
Besides the milllion removal that they have, Dr.Boom Mad Genious just makes this worse. The rush aura is so unhealthy, i just know that i will not be able to develop a board because with Dr.Boom in play he will just clear everthing.
And Omega devastator being a mech... Having to face 4 or 5 omega devastators a game with rush feels bad.
So please, Blizzard, i know you have your data and you think that Warrior is not that bad to play against but i am not the only one saying that warrior is broken at the moment and making the meta super unhealthy. Hell, even some famous streamers are playing wild to not play against Dr.Boom.
Please, for the deep of my heart, do something about the state of Warrior.
Sad thing is, that I have to agree here. I have endured all the metas so far. It was a bit frustrating at times, but nothing compares to playing against the current control warrior. The moment they play Boom the fun is over. You are hardly able to get any damage in and they also gain 7 armor every now and then.
I am close to quiting for the first time since playing in beta.
I, at least, didn't mean to say that warrior is too strong. It is quite strong of course, but there are counters. For me it just feels really frustrating to play against. But alas, you are probably right. This is mainly salt.
I havent been playing too long so if someone could explain how to counter Control Warriors then I'll stop whining. I know its different for each class but just a general explanation of how to exploit its weaknesses. The only thing that has worked for me is just to try to get as much damage to him as early as possible before they play Dr Boom. That's just hard to do because, like another person said, your board gets cleared very easily by them. It's just constantly me reacting to them and never the other way around.
Basically, Control warrior is strong in early game since it has many cards to maintain tempo and remove opponent minions. And the late game is absurd with Dr.Boom and Omega. In my opinion, the only way to win is hoping they have a bad draw...
Go wide? Brawl, Supercollider, Warpath Go tall? shield slam, Execute Want to maintain tempo? Militia commander, Dynomatic Late game? meet Dr. Doom and Omega
The worst metas have been (in no particular order):
- Undertaker Hunter
- Pirate Warrior
- Jade Druid
- Midrange Rexxar Hunter vs OTK Priest
- Frozen Throne Druidstone
- Machine Gun Priest
Warrior with Dr. Boom, Mad Genius is powerful, but it's not broken and certainly not easy to play. I run hunter and my win rate vs warrior is above 60% for the past two seasons. Yes, the rng can screw you, just like it can screw them. Yes, they have loads of board clears, just like the meta has loads of board floods.
The meta warrior decks aren't even the strongest I've seen. I have a buddy who runs a custom build that has gone 80% from rank 18-2 since he started playing in earnest in May. All his matchups are positive win rates. This is a deck that I've seen maybe 1-2 other times, so you're not even facing the best build, just the best known one.
If I can humiliate most warriors just by running midrange hunter, you can certainly find a way to push through to August, when we know the meta will shake up as it must when new expansions come out.
Best of luck!

Rage quitting: the best way to ensure your opponent knows they beat a giant baby.
It's a month until the next expansion arrives. At least wait that long.
Also, saying that Warrior is too good is only partially right, because anything that could beat Warrior also has to be able to beat Hunter and Mage to be viable in the metagame.
Mech Paladin does pretty well against Warriors, both Bomb and Control, but Paladin straight up loses against Mage. Pogo Rogue has a reasonable chance against Control Warrior, but likely loses to Bomb Warrior, because it relies on heavy card draw, and it also needs luck against Hunter and Mage. You could also play Token Druid, which has a reasonable chance against everything, including Warrior, but you won't have many games that you are likely to win. Against all the popular decks, you are looking at a 50/50 chance at best.
If Warrior were to disappear entirely because of a lot of nerfs, you'd probably see mostly Mages and Hunters (already more than a third of all games). Not really a healthier meta. Maybe Shaman would go up in popularity since it looks very good against everything but Warrior, but then you will soon complain about the meta being too aggressive once again. Whatever nerfs you come up with, most slower decks would still lose to Warrior. You can improve the matchup for faster decks, but that would likely kick Warrior out of the metagame entirely and possibly ruins the class for another year (remember Fiery War Axe).
Admittedly, I don't know what could break Warrior's dominance at this point, that would not be inherenly problematic by iself (like infinite damage combos). But nerfing Warrior decisively now would be short-sighted and rushed.
However, if Warrior should still be as good as now after Uldum came out, I'm sure it won't take long before Team5 cripples the class.
Bear in mind also that going by the last data report from VS: https://www.vicioussyndicate.com/vs-data-reaper-report-134/ it looks like roughly 25% of players are playing Hunter right now. Control Warrior is the natural counter to Hunter, hence why you may see a lot of them currently.
If Control Warrior got nerfed into unplayability, it would see a heavily destabilised meta, with perhaps even (dare I say it) a true Hunterstone (Gasp! Don't shoot the messenger!) where it would become ultra-prevalent (in the range of 50%+ popularity) due to effectively little counters available to it that are viable.
If there was likely to be any redress from Blizzard at the moment, it would make logical sense that Hunter would be the first to feel the brunt of balance changes, and then Warrior if it became too much stronger after that.
EDIT: That all might sound a little "Doomsayer prophecy", of course - and it's not intended as a prediction; just following the natural progression to where it might lead if Warrior was heavily nerfed.

If I am clicking on your link, Control warrior is unfavored against midrange hunter (and was unfavored most times) and is even against Bomb hunter and secret hunter.
Oh, well perhaps that's true. I haven't read too far in the exact matchups, but rather was looking at the popularity of the decks. In fairness, there was an assumption that Ctrl Warrior is good against Hunter, as it historically always has been (Rexxar exceptioned).

Control warrior was good against face hunter, that's true.
But control warrior was almost always unfavored against midrange hunter (as long as there was a viable midrange hunter build). Be it old times with Haunted Creeper , Mad Scientist , Piloted Shredder , Loatheb , Savannah Highmane into Dr. Boom or later iterations with unnerfed Call of the Wild. And then came of course Rexxar as you mentioned (although at the introduction of the DK Hunter had a rough time since it was all Jade Druid and Raza Priest).
What would you say is Hunter's biggest rival in the current meta at this moment? What is keeping it in check (if at all)?
According to your link, its best counter seems to be mech paladin and party rogue (whatever that is). Other Rogues, Mutate shaman and token Druid seem also good. But I am not really familiar with the present meta. I presently play more MTGA and merely do my dailies on hearthstone.
But I also realized that my statements were only correct for Midrange hunter. Bomb hunter is even to warrior but loses to Shaman decks (again, according to VS).
Hmm. Perhaps then it is the combination of Control Warrior and Control Shaman doing the work of keeping it vaguely undercontrol. I can imagine that nullifying cards like Dyn-o-matic as MH uses so many mechs, is pretty strong. Mech Paladin's healing makes sense for versus Mech Hunter.
I don't know what Party Rogue is either in fairness. :-D It sounds fun.... it probably isn't... lol
I always enjoy playing against warriors. These are the only games I'm sure to win. You just cannot be too greedy, make them spend their removal. Play conservative while keeping on the pressure and enjoy them slowly dying.

Man, I remember when druid was half of the decks, and they'd end up with over 50+ armor. I still have a bad taste in my mouth from druidstone.

I read the rogue part of VS and it seems to comprise Hench-Clan Thug . So I guess it is aggro rogue with Raiding Party and some pirates.
