I was playing against a C'Thun deck earlier and my deck tracker (the standard one that everyone has) would show some little icons next to some of my opponent's cards, just like it does with any cards that it has some information on ('created by x', something returned to hand, etc....). When I'd hover the mouse over those specific cards I realized that the tracker was able to identify them as C'Thun pieces and could even tell exactly which piece each was. Obviously this shouldn't be possible, so anyone knows why it happens as well as how the hell can the tracker know??? In the settings I could find absolutely nothing related to tracking C'Thun cards....
It happened to me too and I think I know what causes this problem. So I was playing against a spell c'thun mage, at some point an icon appeared on one of my opponent's card showing Heart of C'thun, the 3 damage aoe. I was not sure why decktracker would show this because there is no way it could possibly know the cards. Heart of C'thun was close to my opponent's left most card in his hand which means he was holding it for some time but deck tracker didn't show it since the beginning. Then, after I can see the c'thun piece, my opponent plays it right away. So the answer is: deck tracker registers the cards played at the exact moment, but you have to wait for animation (like when you end turn and your opponent still doesn't play cards, that's because the animations on their screen are not finished) so when you see the piece in your opponent's hand that's because they played it, decktracker registered that, but you see it with some kind of delay (most likely caused by server lag, animations etc.).
wow that actually explains it, I had the same thing happening, I saw the little icon and my opponent instantly played the piece so he already played it but because of delay it was not showing on my end
No it is not that, I had a game today where the tracker was able to identify a C'Thun piece already drawn on t2 (so way before it was played obviously). Eventually the opp played that card and I was able to confirm that it was correctly identified. I tried taking a screenshot, but the deck tracker stuff don't show up on them...

Yes, Sir John is correct based on my experience as well. So in theory, the C'thun the Shattered player should be able to somehow exploit this to know where his pieces of C'thun are in his deck (not sure if DT supports this, but if it can identify when a piece is drawn, then it knows where it is in the deck.) Would be interesting if it can still correctly identify parts after a deck shuffle, which would be surprising - but worth testing out imo

Can you explain why HSReplay admit the problem, and say they're working on fixing it here then? 🤔

That's not how Hearthstone works. There is no deck order. When you draw a card, it's randomly generated from any of the cards in your deck.
Even cards that reorder your deck like Polkelt work the same way. It doesnt actually reorder your deck, it just has pools of "10 mana, 9 mana, 8 mana" etc and draws randomly from each pool until it's exhausted. Then it moves down one.
So no, it cannot tell where the pieces are in the deck because the game does not save the information like that. The only card that I know of that *says* otherwise is Tracking, because it was put out at the beginning of the game, but what it really does is just discover 1, it's not really the top 3. Sightless Watcher has basically the same effect but doesnt say top 3.
That's the reason why there are no cards that let you look at your deck or reorder/search your deck.

Ah, thanks for the explanation - never knew how drawing technically worked. It makes sense, but seems to make it even harder to explain how it's even possible for DT to show the specific C'thun cards. (If each draw is randomly generated, then there should be no way that DT can determine any drawn card in the opponent's hand.)

Looks like it. :(

InB4 trackers get ban-waved.
Oh... das not good.
I was noticing that too, pretty wild.
yes, i noticed it for a while.
It happened on a Trump video the other day as well. Seems to be a common exploit with DT right now.

heard this is a 3 year ongoing problem, so thats nice.
