Reckless Experimenter is being nerfed due to SN1P-SN4P interactions, so it will say Deathrattle minions you play cost (3) less, but die at end of turn. (Cost can’t be reduced below 1.) . This nerf will go live June 3, the same day SN1P-SN4P releases, and you will be able to disenchant it for the full dust cost afterwards. The devs are also keeping an eye on Mechwarper.
We couldn’t even see if it was worth a nerf you people are nerfing cards can even be played. Why even play cards if they are gonna be hut nerf bat b4 they even came out
It goes from a degenerate combo to an interesting one. You can still burst for 14 (Coppertail into Reckless + 5 copies of Sn1p on 10 mana). 24 if you somehow stick both Reckless and Coppertail on the turn before. That's not nothing.
Granted Vargoth + 2 Mind Blasts is 15 dmg for 8 mana, and that isn't a thing that's caught on either.
thank god, although I'M kind of sad we have to nerf a really cool card because they felt the need to print some very basic legendary that probably won't even see that much play anyways
was really hoping for Experimenter to eventually become the center piece of some Talanji/Bwonsamdi deck, but I guess I can scratch that now.
On the upside, I get 800 dust back and also they might print some better deathrattles for priest now that they won't have to worry about hard abuse in Priest

Can't wait to possibly have my Spectral Pillager Rogue OTK (which is not problematic at all in wild) to potentially be killed due to them nerfing Mechwarper if the dumb new mech in town happens to get abused upon released.
But hey better to nerf old cards that haven't caused issues in the game just to create and release a new card that may cause issues down the line.
They should have added the "Cost can't be reduced..." text to Snippy, not Reckless Experimenter. Reckless Experimenter's interaction with >4 deathrattles was completely fine, they just decided to jam a bunch of keywords on snippy. I was hoping Reckless Experimenter would be good eventually so nerfing it kind of sucks.
Pretty dumb way to handle it. Snippy was the problematic card here.

You’re right (assuming you’re being sarcastic). It’s obnoxious to fuck around with perfectly good cards because of one busted-ass card. I mean, preparation is never the problem, but making cards that aren’t appropriately costed is. If raiding party was 4-5 mana to start with, this whole fiasco with taking away part of rogues identity would have been avoided.

Prep was a design space problem card. They nerfed it at probably the right time. Now they can create better rogue spells than before. It had to be balanced around prep.
On that same note, this allows them to create some better deathrattle spells without the potential problems of interactions with the experimenter. This is a better long term solution. It's also less awkward than trying to jam something into snipsnap like, 'This cards cost can't be reduced below 1'. That would be incredibly awkward.
What blows my mind is that Blizzard didn't realize this interaction could take place when they designed the new mech. I think it was about 15 minutes after they announced it that Twitter exploding with the problems and how Priest could create a turn 5 OTK.
They have an entire development team and no one figured this out?

that isn't an otk though. people love wonky otk decks and trying to make them work.
Should have nerfed the new boy instead, and not the Reckless Experimenter. But at least they did something
Exactly!
Again they proove that they are designing cards without considering all the interractions of those cards with the existing ones. And if a degenerate combo/a broken interraction appears - they nerf the existing ones and not the new ones that actually caused the problem (Shudderwock -> nerf the Saronite chain gang; Druid op high cost cards -> nerf mana ramp (a basic/classic cards), Rogue mining pick and tutor card -> nerf Preparation, sure, why not?!).
I don't know if I am more happy about them, listening to the community and preventing a broken combo to see the light of day, or I am more pissed of another example of them, acting like little kids, not admitting that the new card should be change before release and that they should do a better job of testing their new ideas and not just throw sh*t on the wall and see what sticks.
And I am also pissed that some people are just being blinded by the 200, 400, x amount of dust they are getting from all those nerfs. Remember people, a new expansion is coming in about 2 months, another 135 or so new cards and guess what - they will fuck up again. But let's see which basic/classic card / which class will get the nerf-hammer this time to atone for their new missprints.

Good.
Well, that should close a thread or two.

They solved the problem, although not in the way I'd have preferred: Reckless Experimenter is a very cool card with neat synergy with stuff like Voodoo Doll and Devilsaur Egg.
It's a shame they ruined this card just to make another one not invincible, but in the end what really matters is that they fixed it.
Oh well, I'll console myself with another 400 dust after this week's refunds

I tried having fun once. It was awful.
It's going to see a plenty of play.

They went for the nerf i have been suggesting this last week, cool.

Blizzard doesn't play priest.
As I said a few days ago. Reckless Experimenter gets nerfed and the Apocalypse is avoided. Yay.

Magnetic with echo is generally stupid idea. Thanks Blizzard now warrior can discover this thing and then win the board for free.
