ignoring that fact that for 1 mana the effect is stupidly powerful this secret needs a slight nerf. If you play this secret and you have no minions on the board your opponent should be able to trigger it anyway. It says “when you opponent plays a spell,” well I played a spell, so gtfo...It’s dumb that there’s no play around here and secret paladins can just sit on it for a turn. Make them be smart about playing it at least. I don’t think this is an unreasonable change.

Tech the 5 mana destroy secrets minion, or does that not qualify as "no play around" for you?

Clearly you’ve never played against secret paladin.

Was playing quite a few yesterday, it's a new dawn my friend, but you stay set in your ways of complaining.

So against a super aggro deck you’re suggesting that the “play around” is a turn 5 do nothing card? Yeah this secret pops on turn 3 consistently. It has nothing to do with wanting to complain, it has to do with your suggestion being really bad.
While I dont think it genuinely needs to be nerfed.... I do absolutely think that based on its wording it should pop regardless of you having minions.
Agreed, but only if it's consistent with other cards worded similarly. Can you cast these "give your minions"spells without having a board?
That’s the thing though, the spell is already cast, so it’s not the same thing. The wording says “when your opponent casts a spell” so that’s how it should function.
Secrets often have many requirements. This one, like Competitive Spirit needs both the Paladin's turn to start AND that they have minions on the board. Just because you cast a spell, doesn't mean the secret should be triggered, since it needs to buff at least one minion to have an effect.
Its actually worded correctly, its just a basic secret thing: Secrets only trigger when their effect can be resolved, thus there will never be a secret when triggered it does nothing.
For example get down doesnt trigger when board is full because there is no room for the minion. Hidden cache does not trigger while there is no minion in hand etc.
I still agree that the wording is a bit confusing, but its pretty hard if not impossible to put those exceptions into card text.

This space is intentionally blank.
Who cares, secret paladin is bad.
I believe Competitive Spirit doesn't trigger when you don't have any minions on board, so why this card should?

Is anyone running this anti aoe spell in their wild odd paladin and how OP is it? Wild is currently mostly big priests.
Autodefense Matrix won't trigger if the attacked minion already has divine shield. It's just how secrets work
