Paladin was already hit pretty hard with Equality nerf. I was hoping to get some extra removal this expansion to compensate (they also said that the reason for the nerf, was to be able to print more removal cards for paladin). But with only one more card to be revealed and both Twinspell cards already revealed, I don't think that will be the case. All the spells revealed look below average in power level and on top of that we lose Divine Favor in the upcoming expansion.
With the cards we've seen so far, dragon paladin or secret paladin (ugh) better work. If these two archetypes don't find their way into the meta, more than half the cards this class receives kinda go to waste.
On the upside, the dragon cards revealed for paladin are in my opinion the coolest cards of the set. I just hope we actually get to use them! Super excited to test all the cards and hope that I'm wrong!
Anyone feel the same way? What are your thoughts or theorycrafts?
While i hate the equality nerf, i love the new paladin cards so far. I always disliked the "make a dude n buff him"- paladin. Duel, has such a cool flavor as well as the heal both players to full card. I really hope for a lategame oriented paladin deck to shine again that isn't otk. And btw, every class will lose many impactful cards. Cards that made the last 3 expansions a lot less meaningfull. So do expect to see a lot of those "old" cards to see rising popularity. Can't wait to play my buddy Emeriss again
Paladin really needs some good neutral dragons. Especially a good 1 drop.
Then, maybe, a Dragon/Secret hybrid could work. There is potential with all the secret cards. It could give you great tempo over the first 2-3 rounds. But then you have to follow up with some Dragon power.
Paladin always finds a way, but I share your disappointment at this point.
Well if this year's expansion is based on a storyline then yes Paladin should be weaker at first. The villians e.g warrior, warlock and rogue will be the top classes this expansion.
As I have over 10k wins with, mainly midrange/control Paladin, and probably only 1k with others classes combined.
I already watched a bunch of streamers, and considering Dragonpaladin , Gaara said it best, when he talked about all classes and how they will do in the upcoming expansion. And I think the same that as long specific classes still have Herocards. Even getting only 25% of the time,in case of Dr Boom, a Mech out of thin air is so huge in a value game. Dragons alone can’t win those matchups.
Personally i still think including Mechanoeggs, and Kangors endless army is the way to go, unless Shaman and Priest become popular ( since those are kinda the hardcounter to deathrattle in general) .
To equality... that nerf was so critical to any midrange and control Paladin, since this archetype already has the weakest core cards( Paladin in general is probably now on the lower end of powerlevel). I was really hoping for an aoe this expansion, and i honestly don’t understand why Blizzard never released any aoe for Paladin since The Grand Tournament (!!!). Of course we were forced to run Equality. 3 Mana would have been fine , since the class really doesn’t excel in other areas.

I truly feel like the neutral cards yet to be revealed will define paladin for this expansion. The class cards alone won’t carry them no way in hell.
I really think its weird that there are still so few neutral cards revealed so far!
I’ve faced enough Odd Paladins in the last year, I’m ok with Paladin taking a backseat for one expansion.
This reveal season is kinda strange indeed.
Until now, they've revealed 62 out of 90 class cards and just 13 out of 45 neutral cards.
This
I personally think Paladin got some of the best cards this expension, so I guess it's very subjective.
This expansion seems to point towards flood the board and make good trades. I imagine that a good mid range deck is what Paladin will try for.
I'm glad to see less board clears. There should be only 1 maybe 2 class with good board clears. Mage and maybe Warlock.
That's it.
Shaman, Druid, and Paladin need to go back to flood.
So many board clears leaving Standard.
Can't wait.
Paladin and Druid have been top tier for years, I'm happy to see them weakening for this expansion.
Let's wait until we see all the cards revealed.
Yup, i can see neutral cards being the pillar or paladin decks. Like Zombie Chow and Piloted Shredder back in the day! ;-)
paladin and druid are flexible classes...they cant be bel0w tier 1 f0r t00 l0ng..
Odd is rotating out anyway. So support for other archetypes are always welcome.
We'll see a lot of crazy archetypes this year!
Probably, Paladin wont have 3 archtypes in top tier 1 after rotation :D

I can't wait to play hand buff dragon paly
If you have a deck idea might as well go full ham on it.
This x1000

That post seems to be addressed to me:) .

I'm still salty about that unnecessary equality nerf
