I was going to do a forum on countering Mecha'thun, but I already realized that Zoo would be the easy way to counter it, but I don't like playing Zoo. Hand transforming cards such as Demonic Project would counter it, but I'm not about to craft cards for a class I rarely play. I'm mainly a Control player and Mecha'thun THRIVES off of Control decks. It's kinda funny honestly. It reminds me of when Witchwood released and Shudderwock was everywhere. I'm expecting Mecha'thun to sort of die off when decks get refined in a week or so.
Yeah it's a great and fun deck. A lot of testing on it as well. I don't expect this to be viable like shudderwock shaman tho, as all its current iterations are pretty niche and very match-up dependent.
But as decks get refined, I'm sure someone will find something to make it work properly. Druid seems the better deck for it so far.
While I hated hand disruption in MTG (It's been years since I played, so I don't know what it's like these days), I think there's absolutely a place for it in HS, given all the OTK combos. Would really keep people honest with their deck making.
You could get ahead in draw, then play Azalina to steal their combo two turns before you think they can play it. Assuming they've drawn all the pieces, you can just play it before them and win.
You can run a skulking geist in order to counter druid Mechathun decks. For countering other Mechathun decks maybe try running a win condition? I've tried to make super reactive control decks work and they just don't, at all. I think the days where you could reliably kill all of your opponents stuff and wait for them to fatigue are long gone.
Yeah I got my version of Mecha'BOOM druid to go off yesterday against a mage. It was pretty fun. I wish the animation was better though it's kinda lame.

I agree. The animation could be a bit more epic. I was disappointed with the animation when I saw it. Even his summon animation is kind of lame.

Why u hav to be mad? is only card gaem.
Not gonna lie... Mecha'thun is preeeeeety fun when you can pull it off (and yes, super annoying when my opponent does;)
Don't know about long term viability, but for now, I'm enjoying it.
Keep it going. Maybe they’ll re rotate dirty rat back for all of your standard cheese and whine parties.
extended pinkies inc.
