I was having a blast against the Innkeeper, unlocking the classes, I also bought the welcome pack.
I got a quest to play 1 vs game so I did. I chose ranked.
The person I played against absolutely desicrated me. He had very powerful cards like destroy creature with 5 power and above, destroy creature with 2 and below, and cherry on top was some mind control card that stole my card to his side.
Anyway, I thought a ranked match would match me with someone with similar skill and cards but I was completely outclassed and I felt quite unfair in my opinion.
So what gives? Did this other guy spend a fortune on every single pack to get the edge, or what?
There always will be some old players on 25-20 ranks, which are gonna rape all new players. Just.. Don't mind about them. Create 1 strong deck and tryhard on it.
"I have seen worlds bathed in the Makers' flames, their denizens fading without as much as a whimper. Entire planetary systems born and razed in the time that it takes your mortal hearts to beat once. Yet all throughout, my own heart devoid of emotion... of empathy. I. Have. Felt. Nothing. A million-million lives wasted. Had they all held within them your tenacity? Had they all loved life as you do?"

Only 5 bucks for welcome bundle haha but im playing only one class and playinh HS from the start of the game so there was no need for spending real money.
And the best for new players is to play arena. Go to youtube and see some arena players with instructions for new one like you. In arena you will learn basics of HS. And its good value for price if you have 3 wins on avrage.

if you want to try out some of my expensive decks though, I can let you through the borrow decks feature if you add me
Dude.. You can rather teach him the basics of the game xd i could let him play with my full golden renolock that cost like over 60k dust but whats the point if he dont know how to play it xd lets teach him some basics together and then let him play with "expensive" decks :)

New players do get a slight edge in terms of matchmaking in arena but it isn't anything major and I doubt that someone this new in the game knows what he's doing well enough to make arena a worthwhile investment. (at least short-term, and you probably wouldn't want to keep playing it after a few bad runs. Just open packs till you get a legenary from each set and unlock the DK in the frozen throne adventure to start with.
Forgot for "free" legendary in first 10 packs. My bad. But after thet he can spam arena for collection. There is many streamers/youtubers that have videos for new players to help them about arena.

Being a new player is really hard in HS...
I made a new account and guess what? i have a poor collection ok, but i'm a very good player. But... People have so many cards, tier 1 decks... And they are too bad to use them good, they are bad player but win anyway because of good value cards.
i will encourage you as a player of 2+ years, to educate on cards that are available to classes in standard/ranked right now, if not knowing what they do, try to get a general idea of what powerful cards to look out for that a player might run in their class. if you want to know more about the meta and decks that influence the sort of power that you may be scared of, just look up recent videos of popular hearthstone streamers/content creators, simply knowing about these cards may give you an edge above other noobs. The biggest tip i can give you, is to try to stick to one to two classes for now, so that you can get the hang of the game, this will also give you an advantage when creating decks as you wont have to waste as much dust on the plethora of decks you may be interested in, there are plenty of budget cards on this website, youtube, and online in general that you can utilize to maximize your fun <3 Good luck, and cheers for joining the hearthstone community! if you want to add me for more advice, add my battletag ( JadeOPhobia#1187 )

haven't hit legend yet im a good player :)
Most favorite decks right now: 1. Spell Hunter| 2. Quest Warrior | 3. Even Paladin

Arena is bad for new players. Why you all always trying to lead people always youtubers, streamers ?
Let them learn with themselves. Some people enjoys to discover things by themselves and from some conversation.
I don't really understand new generation of players and people. Saying "google it" or saying "watch some streamer/youtuber" when someone asks something is rude in my opinion.
I have a friend who is searching the correct answers from web while watching quiz shows and he also google-ing something while we are brainstorming even in the classes and the pain is there are too much people like that around. This is ridiculous, this is against the wisdom and communication. This is killing your brain and brainstorming ability.
You are suggesting people to kill their brain basically, you know that, don't you? Let them think.
P.s.: Don't stuck to the new generation i have mentioned above please. I am also 27 years old but at least I know I'm a part of a trash crowd of a generation.
Memedeck-seeker. Always tries to build new decks. Hates tournements, streamers, netdecks and poor-o players. ah, but a tournement mode could be great !!!
Wow you guys are super quick to respond! Thanks for that.
I just want to say first, no I'm not trolling, I really am new to HS, actually to card games in general, I did play TESL when it first came out, then after a long break I picked it up again, I'm currently rank 8 in that. Then I thought I'd see what HS is all about (I did it backwards). Anyway TLDR no troll.
Thanks for the peeps that said add them, I will do this asap.
I guess I just need to grind a bit harder to summon some better cards! I did try to copy some decks from here "budget warrior" I think, but I'm many cards short, like half or so.
What's wierd is I've been a Blizzard fan since the good ole Diablo & World Of Warcraft III days but I don't know why I took soon long to try HS, don't ask!

Your very welcome!
To be honest i wouldn't recommended blowing your entire dust on any new decks right now as they will be updated next week when the boomsday (new expansion) releases, you'll also get some free packs and a legendary to jumpstart you into the expansion.
Maybe try a basic deck while your waiting and try to climb to rank 20 or rank 15 if your allready there.
My battle.net is Brody btw, I sent a friend request

I'm a generation above you so I remember before 'googling it' or 'watching it on youtube'. We weren't that smarter then. The folks who look up the information before were either asking others for the answers or just simply accepting whatever info they got and leaving it at that. Actually looking for a correct answer is an improvement.
It wasn't that long ago that most people swore that Columbus discovered America simply because that was the first thing we were told and that's good enough for me.
As far as gaming though, before forums and youtube where you can find out from others we had instruction manuals and magazines giving us the answer. I didn't exactly learn the Konomi code from randomly pressing buttons. Also note that gaming with much more niche back then; when it was more difficult to know what to do, most people didn't brainstorm and figure the game out, they just didn't play at all. Gaming is as popular as it is now because it's become more accessible.
"Trash crowd of a generation" is what the old folks are feeding into your brain, just like the baby boomers told gen Zers and the prior generation told the boomers. Stop listening to such garbage. Millennials had and have to go through a lot of mess that my generation never had to and a lot of the crap you do we did..except we didn't have an internet and endless video coverage for everyone to see our dirty work.
Point is, let people learn how they learn. Encourage brainstorming but stop fretting over the ones that don't. And stop listening to people bashing your generation, and you stop bashing them too.
Though I would agree that arena really isn't the place for a new player. They are going to be 0-3ing it and that makes it HORRIBLE for your collection. They should learn the arena as soon as they can if they plan to go F2P but that comes later, once they aren't worried about priest cards you can get for free.
Don't forget to grab all the free packs and cards you can get:
-Knights of the Frozen Throne (Prolog) -> free Death Knight card.
-Tavern Brawls (sometimes pre made decks) -> up to 1 free classic pack per week
- There are pack rewards for the PvE content (in the form of quest) for most of the new expansions.
-If you have gold to buy packs: Buy 1 pack at a time starting with the newest expansion AFTER you got all the quest packs. Stop with an expansion as soon as you have the first legenadary (within the first 10 packs guaranteed).
With 1 hero card and some legendaries and some dust you should soon be able to make a budget deck (without crafting) to get to rank 15 or higher. Maybe you will have a winrate below 50%. But you can still make progress. When you consider crafting cards, try to do some research, sometimes 2 commons can do more for you than a fancy legendary.
Besides that, it's great that some experienced players around here offered their help regarding gameplay, deck-building etc!
Hello all,
First time playing HS on and off since July 27th.
I was having a blast against the Innkeeper, unlocking the classes, I also bought the welcome pack.
I got a quest to play 1 vs game so I did. I chose ranked.

the cards that you describe are basic priest card, they are good and absolutly free.

You described all basic cards you get for literally like, completing the tutorial
if you really want to get desecrated by someone who has spent a metric tonne of money lemme add you on .net fam
Yeah, they are all basic priest cards btw, so he didn't find them in packs he might be a f2p too.

https://www.hearthpwn.com/deckbuilder/hunter#8:2;76:1;162:2;163:2;225:2;279:2;317:2;363:2;488:2;578:2;55500:2;55584:2;61827:1;76996:2;89398:2;89444:2;
But like I said, I've quite a few cards missing so just made the rest up. 15 I have, 15 missing.
Is there like a deck tracker I can use to upload my collection to here or some other card tracker site??
Borgerking and Tempests I sent you a request, SentralKont tried to send chap but it said no such email or tag.
Thanks all! =)
