Okay so at first I thought magnetic was interesting. After seeing the video on how it actually operates I am waaaay more excited. This is actually a far more interesting and thoughtful mechanic now. Minion placement is on of those strategies that really help define good players from amazing players, in my opinion anyway. Getting another mechanic that focuses on minion placement is not only a good way to make people think about it more deeply in other games but can potentially create some really interesting card design.
Though I do have a question if anyone knows or just has a guess. Magnetic isn't a battlecry but does it only function when it is "played" or just when it hits the board? For example lets say I have played a Sneed's Old Shredder and The Curator. Sneed's is on the left, Curator is on the right. Sneed's Is killed and then spawns Zilliax. Will Zilliax attach to The Curator or does magnetic only trigger when played from hand?
No you wrong Magnetic works by merging mechs together when a magnetic minion is placed to the LEFT of a mech. It is NOT a battlecry so we have to assume that it happens anytime a mech has a magnetic card text to its left. So if you the sneed will summon a magnetic to the left of mech they will be merged

By that logic... If you summon a magnetic minion on an empty board. Then place a vanilla mech to its right (so that the magnetic is on the left), will they fuse? I'm guessing this is not the case because that seems a little silly.
Edit: I now understand that this is definitely 100% not how it would work. You do definitely have to play the magnetic minion afterwards. Just ignore me =P

It hasn't been clarified by Blizzard itself, so we can only guess, and that wouldn't make sense tbh. Don't make false assumptions, though - wait for actual clarification.
No, that's not how it works. Effects can trigger upon being played without being considered a battlecry. Choose one and combo are examples. Magnetic is a keyword that activates when you play a mech with a certain positioning.

If that's correct, I feel like that should be fixed to only activate when you play the minion from hand like Battlecry. I may not always want a mech that summons from a Sneed or other card to instantly merge with another mech just because of accidental positioning. If that happens a silence card basically becomes a single target removal to remove the summoned minion's health, attack, and effect from the accidentally magnetized pair.
say you have a 1/1 dude on the left and a 2/3 mech on the right. you play zilliax on the left of the 1/1. rush trade into something for 3 lifesteal/removal, then trade off the 1/1 putting zilliax and the mech next to eachother. will the 2 mechs fuse? seeing as how magnetic is a keyword with no text and would still be active?

This is another scenario that makes me think it is only active when playing the minion from hand. If it summons, or after you've already played it like in the above scenario, it shouldn't magnetize. But we won't know without further clarification, or potentially until August 7 when the expansion releases.

if it works the way i want it to, it could be insane potentially, but if it doesnt then its kind of meh honestly
I think it will cancel it and just have the minion go to vanilla stats. Also, what happens if your board is full and you wanna fuse a magnetic minion with a mech?i suppose you won’t be able to play it,even if by combining them you wouldn’t take any board space
Not sure if this has been answered elsewhere, but will Silence cancel the Magnetic effect - I don't really understand how it would without separating them? Apologies if there's a thread on that already.
Magnetic doesn't work as Zombeasts. The played magnetic minion works as a buff to the mech minion on the board. If silenced, it is like the original mech minion were silenced.

Watch the video, this scenario is addressed. The effect is not static. He has one spider on board, he plays the next one to the right so they don't merge. If the effect was static they would have merged regardless. So what you are purposing already has video proof to not work in that manner. The question I had was specifically if the effect ONLY triggers when a minion is played or if can be triggered when a minion is summoned as well.
As far silence goes, my guess is when something merges the played minion (with magnetic) will, for all intents and purposes, buff the minion already on board. So a silence effect will not only strip the 'buff' but will also strip any card text on the base card (the card that was already in play).

This is a really good point. It looks as if you will need board space to actually make use of magnetic.
I'm still wondering how is the merged minion taken into account by the game. Lets take the example of the N'Zoth interaction with the Spider Bomb. When using its Magnetic on lets say Mechwarper, is the minion considered dead (in the pool of minions to be resummoned by N'Zoth)?
Because it seems to be pretty clear that the Mechwarper fused with Spider Bomb will not be resummoned by N'Zoth (as it was a mere buff).
Or did I miss anything in the video?
Usually, minions buffed with something like Spikeridged Steed are not resurrected by N'zoth because they are not deathrattle minions. It depends a little bit how the game treats minions fused by the mechanic magnetic. If the magnetic mech counts as a buff, they will not be respawned. if the resulting minion is treated like the zombeasts from Deathstalker Rexxar, they will get revived.
But if it wasn't resummoned, magnetic likely is just a buff...

When a minion pops up from Sneed, it is not played, so no, it shouldnt fuse together.

:( Ah well. Still a big fan of the placement thematic for it. It's really neat.

lol.....I just made a thread about this in the cards discussion forum 2 secs ago
No, I meant August 7th, the release date for the expansion that Blizzard gave us.
yes but as of August 4/5 people will have gotten to play the expansion at pre-release events.
