I've been playing since mid KnC and I just hit legend for the first time and of course I'm happy but I'm not quite sure what to do now. Going for high rank legend is hard when you don't have unlimited time and you are semi-f2p, so what do you all do? Do you play wild, do you try to go for high legend ranks or do you just play fun decks since you can't drop to rank 1? Please let me know what you are doing and what good/bad experiences you made!
the only thing keeping me is that I have spend some money on the game. I made legend, I did 12 arena wins. I'd rather not play anymore but the fact that I spend some money...
anyway now I just do the quests, get to rank 5 and hoard gold.
Try to hit legend without netdecking :) that is first.. Second is that you should try to hit legend with your own deck in wild. Then you should have fun in wild like endless turn druid and other otk decks that are fun! Its not about rank but fun...i play since naxx and never hit legend...why? I dont care about that and i dont have time for grind but sure, i hit rank 5-1 every month... And btw im playing only control/combo/otk warlock decks not brainless aggro because i would rather play one round 20-30 min and lose then play 5 games in 20 min and win all 5... But that is my opinion about that xd

I dont think its possible right now to reach legend with homebrew. And im not talking about swapping 2-3 cards.
I ladder with the class which is the closest to be golden. Druid atm with 430 wins. This way i master all classes, and when i get bored of one archetype i just switch to another.
Honestly, this is the healthiest meta since GvG. I can play token druid, taunt druid, Quest druid with Malygos, Quest druid with Devilsaurs, Spiteful druid, and Devilsaur druid without quest.
Sometimes when i see a mini-meta on my rank floor, i try to counter them, which is also alot of fun. Last night for example i faced many quest priests and Baku warriors, so i just started to play Exodia mage, and oh boy, was it fun. :) Sometimes the biggest joy is to deny ranking from people with boring decks.
I love TCG and the mobile is really nice for those boring moments in my job, I am F2P since the beta and have some fun wilds decks and some good/fun standard decks.
Actually is the mobile that hold me in the game :p
mainly watching streams these days every now and then, havnt played since the meta settled (i assume its pretty set again already after the nerfs, played a few games since but did not enjoy them at all) i usually start farming some gold with arena once the new addon is announced, create a deck that i can enjoy and refine it. i enjoy the first couple days/weeks of a new addon with fun semi meme deck(s) and once the meta is settled and my own deck that i decided 2 play for the addon is dropping in winrate i drop the game again.
guess its impossible for a tcg 2 be more diverse and since even casual games are 75% copy paste decks with a few exceptions (unlike ranked which is 95%+ copypaste) i get bored pretty fast. to a certain degree every multiplayer game has a fairly small diversity since everyone focuses on maximasing his winrate but hs is just insanely stupid and i cant enjoy facing the same decks over and over and over and over again.
tldr: watching fun streamers from time2time and enjoying the first days of an addon is what lets me come back 2 this game periodicly.
I've hit Legend and 12 Arena Wins, the two basic goals of probably most players.
What keeps me playing is the creativity, I'm always coming up with new deck ideas. Some fail miserably, some are hilariously fun to play. And as cliche as it'll sound, fun is the main thing.
I enjoy how casual it is, I can play it on mobile or PC whether I have a spare 30 minutes or 3 hours.
I've had my days of hardcore gaming, setting up schedules and relying on other players to advance in games, but times have changed. In Hearthstone it's all down to me (and RNGesus, of course).

Or you never tried or you just dont know to build a deck :P from rank 3 to rank 1 with dollmaster dorian warlock today...never netdeck...and yes from rank 5 to rank 3 was full demon deck (using ilidan and jaraxxus in that deck)...believe me homebrew are strong decks if you know how to make one..just because your opponent dont know what you have in deck ;) if my full demon could win vs even paladin and cubelock before nerf thats mean it is good deck. (Im talking about wild) only problems were mages and big priests :/ (dont wanna talk about nagalock xD) 0% win vs them with that deck...
Dude believe in yourself :) making a good deck needs time...you cant make one in 5 minutes...100 games played with dollmaster dorian deck to make it work in some good way...even now i think about replacing some cards etc..
I believe you can make good deck for legend!!! If you hit rank 3 with deck you can hit legend but you dont need to...its just about grinding after rank 4... With bad deck you would never be able to hit even rank 4...IMO.

EDIT Okay I see you mentioned sth about wild. Never the less I don't think its possible in standard :P
Wait wait... Were you talking about wild all the time? Average HS player plays standard. So I think its more than wise to point it out when talking about reaching legend with homebrew.
Starting from gadgetzan up to witchwood all I played were my homebrews. But I'm just too tired of trying and present decks are actually fun to play with so don't have a feeling I need to be creative. Also, I don't spend so much time on this game like I used to so prefer having fun than being salty while trying to be original :P
I have never once reached legend and I have been playing since beta (>4 years!). Evidently I don't play to 'beat the game' in any sense (except PvE of course). Mainly I play the game simply because I enjoy playing it.
I only ever play decks I have put together myself so there is always some satisfaction in beating refined net decks, plus I have put a lot of focus on decks with significant random card generation (especially through rogue 'burgle' cards) because these routinely provide unique experiences for me and keep the game fresh despite rapidly stagnating metas.
Finally, use cards that no one else does. When only 10% of cards get used it is easy to forget the other 90% provide tools and options for a huge variety of decks to keep you interested. Sure the decks won't maximise your win rate, but you have the cards anyway and you might find the added challenge enjoyable.

You know whats happened today? Druid stars his turn 10 mana...i had to do something for my doughter...15 mins later it was his turn...same fcking turn when i leaved phone on desk :D he had 1500+ armor... No salt but dude wtf was that hahahha i just needed to tell you that dont know why :P xD

Because at some point I've had enough losing to same boring decks over and over again. It takes time before the final version of a deck is built. And time you spend on finding the correct one can be sometimes very frustrating when having had to face tier 1/2 decks. Sometimes you just want to start winning... Playing hombrews only made me actually like this game less. Why? Because you looooookse toooo muuuch and there is nothing you can do. You won't beat tier 1/2 decks. Not in standard that is.

The only thing that keeps me in is probably twitch. Also I had some breaks now and then so I guess it helped. Longest one lasted 5 months.
I think this is the best meta we ever had in hs. The only thing that bothers me really is burst mage.
I dont think its possible right now to reach legend with homebrew. And im not talking about swapping 2-3 cards.
Eating meta with my own creations. Best feeling ever. Wild only player here. Been legend.

Legend: April 2017, April 2018.
Monster Hunts and dungeons. Really. I mostly play for PvE and collecting cards.
What keeps me in this game is trying out new decks and see how they preform vs the meta.
