I usually play very casually but in the last two seasons I was able to get rank 5, so I decided to try for legend. The collector in me really wants the card back. But this is just so frustrating. I reach rank 5 five stars and suddenly bad rng and I'm on losing streak. I lose so much because of bad mathups and bad rng that I get matched with rank 7 players. It doesn't matter which deck I persist with. The highest rank I reached was rank 2 but that was only because I faced cubelock against my secret mage continuously all the way from rank 5 to 2. But I was never able to go past rank 5 again.
So far I've tried secret mage, murloc paladin, spiteful priest, taunt warrior, jade shaman.
So what do I do to climb. I have grinded for a month now with nothing but bad rng killing me. Not to brag but I think I'm a decent player and most of the matches I lost were one sided squash matches because of bad matchup or bad rng. (Not saying I don't lose because of my mistakes, just some matches). Do I keep grinding? Should I build a new deck? I don't own all cards.
Also how long do you persist with a deck if you're losing before deciding to change it?
Netdeck at least a tier 2 deck and have lots of playing time. Boom u reach legend. Lol i didnt say anything about skill cause u don't need skill nor luck only time
Just play a lot more, and focus on not tilting. When you tilt from a lost streak you start playing horribly and don't catch your mistakes. Other than that, if you realize that your opponents are a lot of cubelocks and decks like that, try to counterpick them by playing secret mage. Good luck with your climb!

I don't have something witty about this deck, I just like it because Malygos is fun.
The grind from rank 20 - 5 is as hard as from 5 - legend. Bad RNG is a part of the game... you just need to play a lot and farm farm farm... do you have time to spend to get to legend? if so go for it... if you have better things to do... quit heading for legend...

I think that's pretty untrue. You can get from 20-5 pretty easily in a single day or two because of winstreaks. Legend truly takes grinding. Going on a single 3-4 game losing streak can erase like an entire day's worth of progress.
Anyway everyone saying it's all about luck and not skill is correct. If you keep banging your head against the game for a good portion of the season, you'll make it even if you have a winrate in the low 50s. In my experience it's much more important to take a break after you lose a couple in a row because it's very easy to be almost to rank 3 one game and then get pissed off and end up back at the rank floor because you start playing mad and doing things like rage conceding when you really shouldn't.
you need to waste lot of precious time to get legend,if you have noting better to do by all means stay in front of the pc and grind for hours sometimes it takes days, that is my pointer,in my honest opinion its not wort.but if you if you really want to get the card back that is what you should do
Look at what decks are being played, find a deck that beats at least half of them, and then master it. Learn your matchups and mulligans, and fight for every win. If you have a 15% chance to win, don't concede and give your opponent that 15% for free - play to your outs and make them earn it.

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.
I felt like secret mage kinda tops out at rank 3. The problem with it is, better players know how to play around secrets. The deck crushes "average" players in rank 5-15 range.
Murloc paladin should be able to make it, but again, that's a tier 1 deck that everyone has played against a thousand times, so lots of people have either teched against it, or they just know everything in your deck.
It is important to stick with fast decks if you want to legitimately try for legend. I made it with a Prince Keleseth zoo deck (I put the zoo deck up on the website here in my profile). I tweaked the deck to crush paladins and hurt spell hunters and combo priests (which combined for 50-60% of my matches). You need silence to deal with cubelock. If you don't get the silence on turn 5 you're probably screwed haha.
Anyways, tl;dr, build your deck to deal with what you face the most (ie cubelock, combo/dragon priest, spell hunter, murloc/silver hand paladin in my experience). The most common deck will likely be aggro paladin, so take out some slower cards to help gain early board pressure against them.
Edit: I should also mention I played about 125 games from 4 to legend (averaging 5-6 minutes per match, so about 11-12 hours of game time in the first 8 days of April). If I played a slower deck it would have taken 20+ hours, and that's when it's not worth it haha. It's a grind for sure. If you're losing one day, maybe take a break. Last night I won 18/24 games to make the final push somehow. If you find that you're hot one day, just stick with it I've found haha. There are other days where RNG will be out to get you.
I would say that the grind from 20-5 is at least 10% of the grind from 5 to legend, I've been to legend like 3 times in the past and I play since vanilla, since they start to give rewards I try to reach at least rank 5 every month, and that's really easy, I normally do it in the first week of the month. When I'm playing a tier 1 deck I can get it in a day or so.

Don't play taunt warrior and jade shaman.
