So yea, im new to the game barely scrapped enough dust to craft spiteful priest deck. The thing is, every single time i get to rang 6 5stars, i get a paladin and never draw duskbreaker. Or i get a cube lock that coins out a giant followed by weapon.. this thing goes for 2 weeks stright now. So 2 questions: Can spiteful priest even get to rang 5? Is it a good idea to swap out 1x scalebane for 1x holy nova to increase my chances vs paladins?
You’re just unlucky, thats all there is to say. Spiteful Priest can get to legend with enough time and skill, also you can tech in whatever you think will help. If struggling on damage output keep the Scalebane in, if not replace it with Holy Nova if you think that will help.
Its just RNG for the time being. Keep playing and u can get there.
Cant stop smiling of the irony here tho. You play an RNG deck to be honest. You hope to get Spiteful on turn 6 to steamroll ur opponent but even then u hope to highroll a good 8 drop that can range from the Lich King to a Bonemare. Same can be said for 10 drops with stuff like a gg Tyrantus or a bad Cthun.
I'll give u a pass since u are new but i stopped playing Spiteful long ago as against aggro u need to draw duskbreaker or discover him from Historian. Like u i couldnt get him and lost vs brainless aggro. Then my Spiteful plays were always rng at its worst. If u play many hours each day then its not an issue but if u play one to two hours like me then u need a more skilled reliant deck.
But hey congrats on ur journey quite impressive and congrats on not running an aggro deck. I swear aggro players dont like playing HS they just want to get a 6 min game and procede to the next no fun involved and its feels like a huge grind.
For anyone wondering heres the deck im using. The only thing i miss is 2x historians due to being greedy buying karazhan cause it rotates out in a month. What can be teched out for the deck to play better vs aggro?
anyone complaining about things like this arent playing the game enough, statistically it will take something like 500-700 matches for the average player regardless of deck list to reach legend, if you expect to win every match in a game thats made of roughly 50/50 matchups you are sadly mistaken
Dude craft historian its a staple on that deck as it helps u discover duskbreaker. Plus isn't it a a 40 dust card?
It's from Karazhan, so it's uncraftable atm (probably will be after the rotation)
Oh sorry i didnt know u couldn't craft it. I bought the adventure so i never knew that. You will be able to craft it after it rotates out tho. I just crafted some cards from Blackrook adventure and i didnt even play HS at that time

310 wins on a priest, add in the losses and im clearly over that mark
I reached rank 7 first month of gameplay back in Naxxramas with Shaman,(Shaman was a forgotten class then, and by far the worst one).Didn't reach legend until many months after of trying.Reaching rank 6 is very good for a beggining player but,the real grind starts after 5.Your first time to legend will seem like a huge journey, while the rest of the times will seem like a walk to the park.

Now with the changes to the ladder it hardly took me 100 matches to reach legend from rank 4.
Spiteful priest is totally viable, you just don't have much margin for error vs paladin. Hard mulligan for dusky, play around divine favor and Tarim as much as you can. Sometimes intentionally picking the wrong card with curious glimmerroot is the right play if you don't think you'll get to play it. Don't worry about playing for value since your cards are individually much more powerful than theirs.

Yes it can just play more - it may feel unfair but you will get there eventually
Yeah, new players aren't allowed to reach rank 5, Ben Brode takes care of it personally. :P
I would report these cubelocks coining out a giant, shouldnt ever happen.

Some players cut scalebane for book wyrm. Don't add other spells, it ruins the deck synergy.

It is 40 dust, but its in last wing of karazhan, i really dont want to buy something tht wont be useful in a month
