this is arguably one of the worst metas in HS history? I remember seeing predictions about it after K&C was released, but the army of neckbeards came storming in saying "nah bro best meta bro", "nah bro try a different deck bro", "get gud bro", etc. But honestly, this is the absolute least diverse meta we've ever had. Aside from Cubelock and (kind of) Spiteful decks, there really isn't a single unique archetype. Highlander got stronger. Aggro got stronger. Murloc Pally is still a T1. Cool. After 40 games of ranked play ranks 13-10 this morning, I literally did not see a single deck aside from Highlander, Cube/Zoo Lock, Aggro Pally, and Tempo Rogue ---- and over 50% of those games were almost the exact 2 Highlander and Zoolock decks.
Seriously, I'm feeling at an all time low with the devs. The game has just become rock paper scissors with the top netdecks. Hopefully the nerfs will change that, but I doubt it
We've had worse, but I'll agree it's not brilliant. Better than the Gadgetzan meta, but much much worse than Un'goro or KoFT.
Every deck is either Aggro or some cheesy OTK combo, both of which require little interaction and high tunnel vision.
I would say this meta is still better than KoFT which was completely dominated by Razakus and Jade druids. There was literally nothing else on ladder, shy of couple temporogues and evolve shamans. But Un'Goro was the best - so many new decks and archetypes, first couple of weeks of the expansion were probably the most enjoyable time I had in HS since closed beta.
Least diverse meta? These buzz words are getting a little tiring, especially when it doesn't accurately capture what this meta looks like when compared to older metas.
The initial Smorc Shaman and Pirate Warrior metas had fewer competitive decks on the ladder than this deck. It isn't really a contest.
You know its getting bad when a top (if not the top) streamer, DisguisedToast actually made the comment yesterday "why does anyone even watch streamers play Hearthstone anymore in this meta"
The sad thing is .. there are other good decks out there. People just won't play them. I actually had high hopes when I started playing this morning. I saw at least 3 really decent homebrew decks. I actually played a Warrior! And a couple Shaman. ... but then I guess the main player base woke up, and it's back to Warlock, Priest, Rogue.
For a couple hours this morning, it was actually "fun" ( In know .. subjective term) ... I was able to play a homebrew mage list and win some games, and got to see some other off meta decks. But, now its back to the grind.

I second what Ambien said. There are quite a few good decks, and they have a decent matchup against Cubelock (not mentioning Highlander Priest since Raza will make it weaker), such as Tempo Mage, even Big Spell Mage and of course the aggro/tempo decks. Of course if the warlock draws all its heal and AoE, the game seems to be hopeless, but that can be said against most decks. My impression is that people don't experiment enough, and the more we keep saying "Oh after the nerfs it will be Cubestone" "Nothing can stop warlock from being god tier" etc etc, the more people will start using this deck instead of being innovative, looking for decks which stand a good chance against the momentary meta.
I am disgusted with how OP Warlock has become. Even Zoolock is insane right now. Over 50% of my ladder games today were Warlock opponents. Kill them by round 10 or along comes Guldan and you're screwed.
played 15 games today and every single one of them were either against raza priest or rin control/cubelock, you think things are bad now, just you wait till the nerfs hit. lol

Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.
I still stand by the opinion that nothing is worse than Gadgetzan. I can't, can't hate the game's current state more than I did back then. It's like it squeezed out the strongest hatred I had in me.
Not sure if it's worth pointing out but neither of my played decks are Highlander Priest or Cubelock. Not sure if that validates my opinion in any way.
Start of Year: Provoke the failure of 3 expansions, force nerfs on otherwise balanced cards, bring deckbuilding to an all-time low and get rotated one year earlier for being such a threat to the game's health. - Genn and Baku's historical entry on the White Book of Shit Design, shortly before retiring unpunished
I envy you for being capable of playing this game for more than an hour. I can't find any homebrew deck on ladder, only the same smorc hunters, highlander priests, exodia mages, jade druids and tempo rogues, all of which insist on BM me all the time during my games. That's why I can'g get past 3 or 4 games straight.

And this is exactly why I am a strong believer that standard has a higher rate of player burnout than wild.
The wild meta is much better. Although you will still see some cubelocks and raza priests, there is a much larger variety of decks, and the meta changes very frequently. If anyone is really finding the standard meta that bad, I suggest either trying wild, or just quitting hearthstone. (The second option is probably better tbh)
I think you just pointed what is happening to me. I spend more time reading/discussing/watching than playing in fact and some days like today the feeling I should quit this game is very strong.
Are you kidding? Shamanstone, Pirate Warrior era, even the jade Druid era were all much worse than this.
even the jade Druid era were all much worse than this.
I do have a bad feeling that after the nerfs, it could be a repeat of Druidstone.
The thing that made it so bad back then was not just Jade druid, but Aggro druid ... and to a lesser extent, Big Druid. The point being, we had one class with several of the top meta decks. I do get the feeling that is what is coming. Warlock has some pretty serious tools right now. And it has so many different variants of lists. Cube, Control, Zoo, Rin ... and even within those lists are variants. And they are all T1 capable.
Of course we will see counters ... Rogue matches up decent, as do mages (maybe to a lesser extent) ... but I am fully expecting a whole lotta Warlocks here real soon. Just today, I'm looking at 34% Warlock, with Priest and Rouge at 14%. WIth Priest getting kicked in the balls with Raza, that' gonna shift more of those into Warlock.
The only hope is that the next xpac will put some cards in play for other classes, and not swing the pendulum too far the other way.

Ehh ... after 8 or 10 hours, you kinda just go numb :-)
Seriously (sadly), it took me 10.5 hours today just to get through the 20-15 ranks. Couldn't get a win streak to save my life. 52% Win Rate, it took 56 games to get there.

Yes we can Sweetie, jokes aside, it will change with the patch, you will see.

It will only get worse after the nerfs.
so it is better seing patches and raza rather than cubelock? The new meta is at least smarter
Blizzard is a lie for money lul
Anyone else remember the midrange shaman meta? I left Ranked then, after a run against 14 Midrange Shamans in a row.
This meta isn't the worst. Not even close to it...
